This was a bit of a shock, the tense was totally different than the rest of the Marjoram series. The sudden past-tense to present-tense kinda drew me out of the story. Other than that it was interesting, I'm curious to see where this goes in future oneshots/the series proper.

Yeah, sorry for the sudden shift. Most of the oneshots are just for fun, or just bits and pieces I couldn't just leave unwritten. Some stuff might make it into the main story eventually, but probably not. So, I'm approaching the writing for this story a lot differently. I'm not really proof-reading, or caring much about tenses and stuff. And I'm sorry that's a problem.

This feels like it could have driven Twilight to her effective but flawed magic infusion treatment. Seeing family like that made her desperate. In the main story we don't see the bad days since there isn't a story beyond just existing through it. I'm lucky I've never had anyone stuck in such a situation for long. I imagine it can feel worse than if they died, you grieve and can move on, with this there is only the dread that it will get worse.
