Two in a row! Today was a great week!
8206062 Those are my flutteryays you can't have them.
Huzzah!!!!
I really enjoyed everything pre-Cadence in this chapter haha.
So detailed! And very relaxing ^_^
Thank uuu!
If I were Shining, I would force Celestia to make the main six soldiers, and also make them pass a rigorous training for the future.
About damn time
You know, it's funny. I was actually gonna send you a PM yesterday asking if this fic was going to update soon. Then today, a new chapter magically appears! Awesome timing.
This was like a little present showing up when it appeared in my update feed.
More please. This crack be tasty.
yes update , also wow chysissy replaced a third of the guard already, by the time of the celebration will there be any guards left
Update!
Small coding error though
Keep em coming.
8206432 Ah, shit. Thanks for pointing that out >w<
So there are no historical documents of their brother "Artemis" to prove that this new alicorn is legit, but apparently he actually existed? Were the documents destroyed or something?
8206513 Considering how much shit has happened during Equestria's history, you gotta admit that it's possible. It also may or may not be accurate
Well damn me it was a very nice chapter, but the way it progressed left me with this empty feeling that only another chapter can fill.
8206578 So you have a fever and the only prescription is more horse fiction?
Woosh, no predicting which way this will go.
8206581 basically yes. Yes I have and yes it is. Give it to me.
Dude!! You outed me as a brony!!!! I saw the update, and I squeaked. Literally squeaked with joy.
My friend asked if I was okay. He pressed the issue and I had to admit that I was so excited this pony story updated that I involuntarily squeed.
This better be damn amazing....
........
8206647 I'll do my best
8206669 I have only one thing to say to that: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Nice to see someone treat Chrysie as a careful planner rather than the megalomaniac so many have done here in other stories. And an interesting motivation for her: revenge for the unintended damage done to her hive during Celestia & Arty's fight.
Plus, there's Arty's "memories" starting to take center stage...
This is going to be FUN!
... I don't think soldiers train with live grenades, at least not at first... right?
Just thinking how much worse all these conversations could have gone if someone had mentioned Artemis almost accidentally blasting Pinky.
Eh, he's probably fine wandering around unsupervised, as long as no one else fires a cannon near him.
Well, it's great to see that Artemis has started to have a new out look on his new existence, and starting to see the bright side of things too. It might be going a little too quickly, maybe it's a pony thing, but I think he would need more to really improve on his attitude, other wise he can still suffer have rebonds. So it look like Artemis just might actually be the original's reincarnation, that could be interesting, it not really my thing. I wonder what was his relation to the Princesses, sense he seemed so close to them back then?
I think Artemis has a long way before he can actually caught Celestia off guard in a verbal jousting, or phase her in any noticeable way.
Still it is interesting to see that we might get to see Twilight and try to find out more about his weired weather magic, I hope Shining is going to make a fit over this
I am almost sure that Chrysalis' plan is going to be fucked up by Cadence once she casts her love spell on Artemis and her, and will actually start to develop feeling for that retched alicorn Destroyer that she despises so much. This is going to be so much fun how things are going to get weird. I wonder what would be the changeling reaction of that happening, and if they might actually dethrone her compromising the hive and mission like that. I thought it was funny how Chrysalis daydreamed about her changeling Empire. I wonder what happened to all those guardsponies that the Changeling replaced, where are they hidden and what are they doing to them in the mean while and how they managed to to take up all their tasks, did they just copied and paste parts of their memories. I wonder what are the state of the hive anyway, I mean they lost haft of their own in the battle they can't have that many drones to spare and can't have enough to for a Cantelot level invasion his they are already decimated.
So Bob, or whatever his name was, is a person from the princesses' past reincarnated, or possibly a copy from an alternate reality? That starts to explain why the elements didn't turn him human again. He's probably an alternate universe version of a relative, so they gave him the body of that universe's counterpart.
8206680 .....
Dammit!!! It was amazing!
Worth the squeak and and the outing.
I half expected the Mention of Twilight scene to go like this:
"You spoke to Twilight recently?"
"Yeah. We had some business we had to workout together. But when it was over I woke up in her bed feeling a bit sore.
"....what?"
"It's fine, we had a party afterward."
".......WHAT?"
Man, when the crap hits the fan and Chrysalis reveals it was all a sham, it's going to drive Artemis into a killing frenzy. Literally. Lots of changelings are gonna die. Hopefully Chrysalis, too, the stupid runt, but with a C.
8206876 You are such a bad person, you know that right?
8206896 Do evil people squee? I think not.
8206939 Did I say evil? No. I called you bad
8206948
Very nice. Really look forward to quite a few things here. Artemis's growth into who he can be. Thechance that a lost twin has been reborn finding his cutiemark and rising up to show not just the others what he can do but show himself.
Great setup here, waittine be damned. Well worth the wait!
8206100
WELL TOO BAD! I HAVE STOLEN THEM AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!
Can you explain Artemis relationship with the princesses not the human one the one that died I can't tell what they were.
8207068 I haven't exactly straight out said in the story yet, so doing so would be a total spoiler wouldn't it?
I got a feeling that Artemis is going to explode... Literally, like a nuke.
So Artemis is going to actually have been a long lost alicorn? Feels forced to me, as does his sudden apparent friendsgip with Luna. Honestly, her and Celestia feel... unwilling to engage with him in his comfort zone, rather than not pulling him into theirs. If anything Shining and Cadence are more genuine.
Sonething just feels off, and I can't place my finger on it.
Not bad, I want more though!
8207303 Probably my inexperience. I've been getting better, but I still have a long way to go, especially on this site
Ooh yay.
The updates will commence and I shall consume them like a fat kid eats chairs at McDonald's.
Dunno where that came from.
FRRRRRREEEEEEEDDOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
I'm surprised he didn't have a snarky comment ready for Cadance's "no one was injured" line.
On to other things. I'm liking the stuff between Chrysalis and Artemis. There's a not insignificant part of me that's really hoping that ship will actually happen, even though it's pretty unlikely at this point. And it's nice to see Chrysalis actually being competent, instead of how she was in the show. Though she might have dun goofed using her magic on Artemis like that. I know she has no way of knowing about his past, but trying to magically manipulate someone that has spent the past thousand years being magically manipulated might not be the best course of action.
One thing that I was confuse about was sense when was Artemis ever wore any regalia anyway? I mean it was never mention and I think that most guys would scoff at the idea of wearing any of that stuff and I don't think that Artemis would agree to wear any of that simply to spite Celestia and Luna.
I wonder why the council of lord or whatever were so afraid of Artemis and what was those concession Celestia had to do? I wonder if we will get to hear more of on that. I wonder if Blueblood in amongst them. So is it only Celestia who has any real power and Luna and Cadance are only figure head?
Can't wait to see what will come next.
8207984 Less regalia, more like armor, like in the cover art. No gems, no fancy details, that sort of thing. As for the rest? Luna has the same authority as Celestia, in theory anyway, while Cadance, at the moment, is more like "Prince" Blueblood in the show. No real governmental authority but does likely have at least some political sway given her position as a princess and alicorn. And Blueblood is indeed on the aforementioned council, being a descendant of Princess Platinum. More details to come in later chapters
8207984 either the last story or first chapter, it was for his introduction to canterlot but it also was supposed to keep his power in check.
8208817 No, that was just the cola that Celestia put on around his neck and not a necklaces, and he told me that is not regalia but "armor", supposedly. I am properly starting to get annoyed at Cresmsler for skipping on the description of Artemis' collar until much later, we don't even know if it is a leather or metal or if it has any ornamentation on it.
8208852 I've actually already said what it is. I described it as a peytral, a piece of horse armor, those things that Celestia and Luna wear around their neck and covers part of the chest. You see it in the cover art.
Something something memories and other plot element we the readers have no clue about. But it is strange, who is this pony that Luna and Celestia miss? Brother? Old friend? Lover?
And I do not see Artemis reacting well when Chrysalis finally lets drop he has been manipulating him. I see some very terrible backlash with no regard to innocent casualties.
The D&D gold standard it seems.
This I don't like. This ability had not really been hinted at earlier and should have been used in multiple different cases in the previous chapters. But it was not. I was looking forward to changelings that didn't communicate over some hive mind.
Which the changelings had been doing up until this point.
Artemis knows how to dry himself off already. Happened when Celestia visited him in his room. From chapter one:
So Shiny should be the only one wet in that scene.
8209046 And I now feel like an idiot for the inconsistency that I really should have noticed while writing. Oh well, thank you for pointing it out anyway. I can always edit, though I'd have rather not made the mistake in the first place
