Sorry, but Pinkie is the only pony who I really can't imagine silently heartbroken. Even with the added insecurity about her sexual orientation: Pinkie Pie living a lie and faking smiles?
And Rainbow Dash with a rejection like that? I'm sure the bearer to the element of loyalty would have found a better way.
On the other hoof, if you're Rainbow Dash (and you probably aren't), you're probably thinking that the proper way to deal with this is a quick, even terse, dismissal - especially if you have a stallion waiting for you. It's not like you wanted to break Pinkie's heart.
Still, intentions, in the grand scheme of things, don't necessarily mean squat, and I, for one, have never made my peace with "It was never meant to be," even when it was never meant to be.
