This story was inspired by a noticed familiarity between Midnight Sparkle and Ness's Nightmare. Twilight wakes up in Magicant after bracing the magic she obtained at Camp Everfree. Now she has to conquer Midnight Sparkle with a little help from a bat wielding boy and the mental support of her friends.

Please explain the author note?

Every chapter afterward features a code which will change Mario's coloration in Super Mario 64 to slightly resemble that of the character in question.

Ness's Nightmare is the boss of Magicant in EarthBound. It represents the evil part of Ness's mind. Upon defeating it, Ness receives a MASSIVE stat boost and a ton of experience points. The following video shows the fight against it.

Nice final touch, because of course Pinkie Prime can annihilate Giygus.

7645317 Seeing as how she giggles at the creepy? Also, that was supposed to be a sort of teaser/cliffhanger for the sequel I have planned to write.

Eight Melodies Design Contest!
I have started writing the sequel and have a little problem. I need a song for the Eight Melodies.
I have a hard enough time writing as it is, but an even harder time with song writing.
So I have a little idea. A design contest. Whoever designs the best song will have their lyrics used for the Eight Melodies, and early access to the first two chapters. Credit will be given to the creator of the lyrics.

7645171 Why didn't you respond to my comment? You clearly know how, so why?

7665856 Sorry, The comment you replied to was meant to have been the explanation. Ness's nightmare is the final boss of Magicant, which is the realm of his mind. According to what it says when you fight it, it's the evil part of Ness's mind. The video below should explain it a bit better.

7645168 if i played super mario 64, i would use fluttershys

is it horrible that i want one of the dream mane-6 to die, just to see what happens.

7734300 You almost got your wish. I chose to have Ness be the one to get knocked unconscious/killed (It says that the playable characters "get hurt and collapse" once they run out of HP, which suggests unconsciousness. However, the overworld sprite for a defeated party member resembles a ghostly version of they're sprite, suggesting death.). Also, I'd assume that a tombstone would appear in front of their home, seeing as that is what happens when a Flying Man is defeated in either of the first two EarthBound/Mother games, which would mean they probably wouldn't be able to come back. According to WIkiBound (one of the NIWA wikis), "if a Flying Man happens to fall in battle, a grave will be set up by their home and cannot be revived."

7734291 I'll personally admit that Fluttershy's code is one of my favorites, along side Rainbow's and Sunset's. It's a shame I can only use them on an emulator, seeing as I would need a Gameshark to use cheat codes on the console,
