helmet of salvation

Christian, husband, father and FlutterTwi amalgam. Hope you enjoy my stories. "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good." [Rom. 12:9]

E

A new sound has been emanating from the Everfree Forest. Fluttershy learns that the source is a squonk, a beast whose entire existence is one of misery and loneliness.

Naturally, her instinct compels her to help. Yet even introducing herself will be difficult, since the squonk cannot bear having another creature look upon its hideous appearance.

Can Fluttershy and her friends help such a creature experience friendship?

Good chapter, but i Think there about to learn the most saddest thing about a squonk, since "scientific name" of the squonk is Lacrimacorpus dissolvens, which comes from Latin words meaning "tear", "body", and "dissolve".

Please don't tell me they are gonna be super pissed off with her for popping a balloon . Other than that good story. I thought elegy accepted help too quickly for a creature that spends its whole existence crying but whatever. You write Pinkie very well in my opinion.

7709610 Thanks for the favourite and feedback. Pinkie is probably the main character I resemble the least so I'm glad you like how I capture her. Hope you enjoy what's to come.

Well atleast they didn't all hate her after she popped it haha but I feel there was just too much drama surrounding this one balloon. Im interested to see where you can go from here with this story. Altogether this was a rather short chapter but it did a good job of finalising the party in an interesting sort of way and opened the door for future progression. Keep up the good work.

Come on, you know our heroes better than that. :scootangel:

I get that but bear in mind this is Fluttershy we're dealing with. Hates being scared, hates being pranked. Yes, as the series has progressed she has learned to overcome some of her fears, or summon the will to act in spite of them, but it has never been a quick process and she does not react well to having the source of her fears thrust upon her. That her fears may seem disproportionate to you or me does not make them any less real to her (see also Lesson Zero) and her friends have learned to allow for this, whereas Elegy had not, having led a solitary existence and only just met Fluttershy.

Also, the seeming insignificance of the incident meant there was scope for Elegy to shrug it off as nonsense—much as Rainbow Dash did in chapter 1—rather than regretting and apologising. It gave her a plausible choice.

By the way, getting distressed at the noise of a few balloons bursting? I've seen it happen. She wasn't a baby either, she was nine. Different people are sensitive to different things.

Thanks for the good word and your continued readership.

I was expecting a twist ending where Elegy turns out to be an ordinary pig.

8156000 Now that would have been funny. Or touching. Alas, it wouldn't quite square with the physical descriptions from Zecora and Elegy herself earlier in the story, especially with ordinary pigs already being canon in FiM.
