Princess Luna, returned to her sanity merely a fortnight ago, arises from her slumber to find herself an unwitting player in a national holiday...

...much to her displeasure.

She takes it into her hooves to remove the holiday from existence, and to set right the misconceptions surrounding her.

(My entry into a Fireworks-themed contest... sorry for the delay. Medical complications prevented this from dropping on the 4th!)
*Edit, now properly tagged tragicomedy!

You never cease to surprise me, Jack. I thought I had this story pegged when I started reading it, but then the newspaper happened, which lead to this:

It was little more than a whisper, in truth, but it carried behind it the weight of a thousand years of self-inflicted misery; and when applied with the royal canterlot voice, this single thundering proclamation from Princess Celestia echoed through the room, causing the windows to nearly buckle, and for dust to fall from the rafters.

And then I thought I had the story figured out again, until this happened:

"...This night, so many years ago marked when not I, but my subjects, brought back the stars, setting a course for your return just a few weeks ago.”

Well written, very well written indeed. This earns every praise it can invoke.

Properly located now.

I really like the idea of all the stars vanishing when Luna was banished, and that ponies would shoot fireworks to try and bring them back is actually pretty adorable!

Finished reviewing for the Goodfic Bin. Unfortunately, due to some problems I had with it whilst reading, I'm rejecting it from Goodfic Bin submissions.
