The Wedding of Quartz Fire and Princess Eris

Quartz Fire stood, staring in the mirror of his dressing room in the Canterlot Castle. Spike walked up slowly behind him and laid a claw on his shoulder.

"You look great son. I'm sure your mother will love it," the dragon brushed a tear from his eye.

The white stallion sighed and put a claw to his chest. There sat a tiny fire ruby, shaped into a heart.

Spike turned him, staring straight at him with a smile, "Now let's get you ready."

Quartz nodded. He checked the cufflinks of his suit and stepped out to his groomsmen.

"Ah, ol' Quartz is getting married!" Cameo laughed, nudging the silent Igneous beside him.

Herleif, the only stallion close to the groom's height gave Quartz a light punch, "Ya did good."

Miracle Mirage chuckled as Thunder Thorn said, "Wow. Iggy and Leif are exploding."

"Thanks so much guys," the dracony replied with a dashing smile, "Now I'm ready to see my bride~"

"I'll be going," Spike said with a faint smile, "Hope your new father-in-law doesn't get any ideas. Haha."

Mirage didn't seem offended by this statement, he hugged Spike a bit in fact. Quartz followed his soon to be brother-in-law, wrapping the pale blue claws around his dad's scaly neck.

"Let's go Q!" Mirage pulled said stallion out of the room.

In front of them sat family and friends in the gorgeous white room. They lined up, Herlief, Thunder, Mirage, Cameo, and Igneous. A stained glass window stood behind them. On it stood each of the queens with their husbands. Celestia and Discord, Luna and Sombra, Cadence and Shining Armor, Twilight and Flash.

'I'll be up there some day,' Quartz thought happily, 'Me and Eris.'

The traditional music, played at royal weddings every time, began slowly. Out of the tall lavender doors stepped the flower girls, Opal Calla and Forsythia Dash. They were followed by Princess Amity, Amethyst Dream, Princess Serenity, Party Pop, and Princess Dreamscape Darkness Princess Topsy-Turvy stood a bit behind, she was a junior bridesmare. They lined up, tears scattered between the mares as Celestia too, cried. Out came Eris, her long dress trailing behind her. Discord closed his eyes to hide the intense emotion he had only experienced once before. His eagle claw linked with his daughter's. Quartz stifled a gasp, tears forming in the corners of his eyes at the sight if his beautiful bride. Discord sat and Eris took her place beside Quartz. She smiled at him with a wink. Quartz shook his head slightly returning the smile. Cadence straightened her papers on the stand behind the parties. The beginning of the ceremony was a breeze, the, the vows.

"Do you, Princess Eris, take Quartz Fire, to be your partner, loving what she knows of you, and trusting what se does not yet know. Do you eagerly anticipate the chance to grow together, getting to know the mare you will become, and falling in love a little more every day. Do you promise to love and cherish her through whatever life may bring you?" the queen said.

"I do," Eris nodded.

The pink mare turned to Quartz, "And do you, Quartz Fire, take Princess Eris, to be your partner, loving what she knows of you, and trusting what se does not yet know. Do you eagerly anticipate the chance to grow together, getting to know the stallion you will become, and falling in love a little more every day. Do you promise to love and cherish her through whatever life may bring you?"

"I do," Quartz bit his lip to hold back tears.

Cadence motioned for Topaz to bring forward the rings. Quartz and Eris each took a ring from the cushion he levitated. Quartz held a silver ring, a turquoise flame intertwining with, but ahead of, a many colored opal swirl. Eris had a similar ring but the opal swirl was ahead of the flame.

"I give you this ring to wear with love and joy. As a ring has no end, neither shall my love for you. I choose you to be my wife this day and forevermore," the white stallion said placing the ring in her claw.

Eris repeated this statement, slipping the ring onto Quartz's thick claw.

"I now pronounce you mare and colt. You may now kiss the bride."

Eris was now crying a bit, Quartz grabbed the mare in a loving embrace. His scaly face against her soft lips, forked tongues intertwined for the moment. They released as quickly as it started. Cheers echoed through the crowd. Eris laughed and kissed her new husbands again. The groomsmen cheered loudly, hitting each other a bit. On the other hoof, the bridesmares were hugging and crying. Rarity wrapped a hoof around her now sobbing husband.

"Let's get on with the party!" Eris giggled.

More cheers began as they exited the hall as husband and wife.

Ponies cleared the dance floor as the bridal parties entered. Herlief was with Amity, Thunder embraced his wife Amethyst, Mirage with Serenity, Cameo with Party, and Igenous with Dreamscape. The pairs danced in a formation until Quartz and Eris twirled into the room. Then they simply danced wherever they pleased. The dance ended with a loud 'Hey!' from everypony. The newlywed couple laughed, joining in on the party.

"Hi Mum!" Quartz hugged his mother, "Enjoying the party?"

Years formed in her big blue eyes, "Yes darling. But don't bother with me right now. Go see your wife. Give her a big kiss, you know I loved it when your father did that."

Spike laughed and wrapped an arm around Rarity. The parents lovingly watched their son walk away to his bride...One generation to another...

Your lies shant be believed! Dislestia heretic!:trolestia:

Well, I think the two main issues is that there's no plot here, and that you're dropping in a lot of next-gen characters as though we are supposed to know them already. In many cases, I found myself thinking "now, wait--whose son or daughter is that supposed to be?" I couldn't get invested in the wedding of characters I didn't know.

Never put things like "I was just bored" or "I wrote this in half an hour" in the description or the author's notes! Readers want to feel that you did your best, so telling them that isn't going to make them like your story more.

My suggestion would be to keep this, either on or offline, as part of something you'll do later. Also, if you get any negative comments, just leave them where they are. Deleting comments is a big no-no in this community.

I realize this may sound a bit tough, but I mean it constructively. Good luck!

FlashxTwilight sucks donkey balls.

4833483 Thanks for the suggestions. :3 Most of the characters I haven't posted on DA yet but this is kind of for myself to flesh out characters. :P I posted it here for comments like yours.

4835465 Yeah, I see the issue. I think one problem is that stories are looked at as a finished product, so people are going to expect that.

I don't know if there's a next-gen group on here somewhere, but there's a group for everything else, so there probably is. Try joining a few of those and reading some other next-gen stories, brainstorm on those forums. That way you can get input from people who are interested in that kind of material. What you can do with this one (I think, so check) is "unpublish" it, so it stays on the site with the comments intact (I think.) Then you can create a keyword for the "unpublished" view, so that people who are willing to offer an opinion can have access if you give it to them. Anyway, that's what I would suggest.

You also might like to join a few of the Recommended Groups on the front page, like Author Support.

Good luck!
