"Hmm...something drew you to my shop. Something powerful. Do you seek wealth? Glory? Perhaps a way to mend a broken heart? Whatever you desire, I can provide it. For the right price, of course."

Nestled away within the back alleys of West Canterlot lies a quaint, unassuming curio shop owned and run by the mysterious Dr. Odsin Ends. An earth pony well-versed in appraisal, herb compounding, acupuncture, shiatsu, and most importantly, the collection of Equestria's most magical and ancient artifacts. Those who visit his shop may not always want what he has to offer, but in the end, they will always need it.

Iiiiinteresting..... I'll be watching for new chapters

Okay, first, I would like to say that perhaps that this should have been split into smaller parts to make it more digestible (for lack of a better word). I don't know about others, but if I see that a chapter has over 5000 words, personally I see it as a wall. Besides that, your separation could stand some work.
Second, there was one fault you had with entering it into the contest: it's still labeled incomplete, as in you have more to write with it. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but probably one reason you didn't make it into the finals. (For what's it worth, I didn't either and, having read the ones that did, a good portion of them deserve it. [Much as it pains my pride to admit it. :twilightsheepish:])
On the whole though, looking forward to more.

Personal inquiry: You listen to 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' while writing? :rainbowhuh: Not anything wrong with that, but personally I feel that classical is more conducive. (Also, I would have gone with a George Harrison song. Not that I dislike John and Paul, but George has more in the way of substance, to me anyway. And this is how I feel at the moment: :twistnerd:)

Meh, with my kind of inexperienced writing, I wasn't expecting to place anyway. What I really set out to do was get the ball rolling on this open ended "collaboration", as I want to call it.

My intent with Dr. Ends' Curio Shop is for it to be a collection of stand alone short stories, with multiple authors adding their own pieces. Hence the reason why it's labeled as incomplete, and why the "chapter" was so long - there are many more tales I want to tell, and I'm hoping that other aspiring writers could write for it as well. Need to write an omnibus for it before I share it with all the other groups first :applejackunsure:

And, well, I was more inspired to write this by listening to that particular song every so often ~
What I normally listen to is Street Fighter III: Third Strike ost :trixieshiftright:

4918731 So your idea is a collection of stories that tie into that one shop and the oddities that go in and out of it. I like it! It sounds like it will have a 'Twilight Zone'/'Amazing Stories' feel to it. (Both American tv shows with that focus around surreal situations in it. They aired at separate points in history.) Might even contribute to it when my muse descends. (Don't say dirty! :ajbemused: It's too easy...Come to think, 'it's too easy' is too easy too. :raritywink:)
