Diamond dogs don't concern themselves with the affairs of the surface and, if they had their way, wouldn't go topside at all. Unfortunately, there's things of value up there, and so they regularly send scouts, with scout duty the punishment for disruptive dogs to remind them why they stay beneath the earth.

Precious has been exiled to scout duty, but she doesn't mind that at all. The surface world can be downright beautiful, and when she's up here she doesn't have to deal with Rover's ego. She's very content to spend her days beneath the sun, watching for any ponies that become separated from the herd.

Until she meets a pony. One who talks to her. And she figures she can afford to let one pony go. No one will ever know.

She should have realized that one pony never stays just one pony.

Spike, Pinkie, and Rarity go to the kingdom of diamond dogs, which unlike the ones they met a few years ago are actually pretty friendly. The problem seems to come from the royal family's daughters, Fiona and Amber. Fiona seemed to be a bit spoiled and doesn't think about others that she deems below her. Amber on the other hand is a tomboy who feels confided. Rarity and Pinkie both help each sister in their own ways.

This story is loosely based on the universe of Equestria at War. Griffon knight Friedrich in pursuit of wealth travels far away to the pony land of Wittenland, to partake in an expedition to Barrad with help of his diamond dog squire - Basalt. Although he'd never heard of this place, its reputation is feared amongst ponies of this Kingdom. The former province of Barrad has been corrupted by dark magic and Wittenland lost any control over it. Queen Whitestar wants to reclaim it, but she needs intel first, so she tasks a party of adventurers with gathering information about this place. Nobody knows, however, what kind of horrors are hidden behind the mist that shrouds Barrad. Can one fight against the darkness and prevail?

Lauren Marie Wolfram "Ren" (Fal)cey (Bav)aridge, was supposed to have been summoned into a medieval fantasy universe where kingdoms fight over the freedom of heroes... except she wasn't. Her roommate, Reggie got it instead. Instead of that, she's just a normal young woman who plays MMOs by day and works as a bouncer by night. Or was.

Ren wakes as a smart diamond dog with a new name and a rootbeer flagon pin on her vest after creating a new character in Equestria Online... which really turns out to be a one-way ticket to a new world. She still keeps her prosthetic arm and eye, so there's that.
