Story Commissions (Old - Closed) · 1:12pm Feb 10th, 2018

So this is something I’ve been wanting to try for the past day or two after someone messaged me and said would I be interested in offering them.

If anyone is interested in a story there is a link now at the very top of my tumblr page (https://www.tumblr.com/blog/archeya) for you to fill out a google form. This will open and close due to my availability etc. You can see examples of my work on my fimfiction page.

Also a direct link to the form itself: https://goo.gl/forms/TzPDrBZhcnx4lR373

Better Writing · 12:46pm Aug 25th, 2018

Huzzah! Now that I've got a job, I decided to invest in Grammarly Premium. That means a better quality of writing and fewer mistakes. It also means less passive voice, which is my biggest freaking weakness in the world. At least this job, as annoying and painful as it is, proves to improve my existence and my writing, which is far more important.

New Story · 5:38pm Dec 14th, 2017

If you're reading this, hi.

If not, well okay.

I am writing a story. I don't have a name for it yet. It is 4k words right now. Important tags right now are adventure, comedy, dark, and human. I am hoping for it to get pretty long and expect supernatural abilities to come along for the human. The story should range all over Equus and be extremely action-filled with a lighter mood. Story arcs will be well-thought out.

Writing Tips · 10:29am Nov 22nd, 2017

I have a sinus headache and don't feel up to working on any of my stories. So here are three tips based on things I've noticed in some of the stories I've read here. I don't know if anyone might find this useful--or even read it. This is probably just shouting in an empty room. :pinkiehappy:

1: The curious past times of bald apes from another dimension. · 10:26pm Oct 21st, 2015

It's finally up!
I have completed the task that I somehow managed to drag out into a torturous marathon of late nights, writers blocks and empty tea cups.
And now I get to do it all again with chapter 2!
HUZZAH! :yay:

Writing Slump · 10:42pm Feb 3rd, 2016

Well as the title to this blog states I am in a kinda slump. I have written and written the same chapter I think 3 or more times but each I either find something that makes it unusable or it comes out simple, well terrible. I am not going for a master piece in my work, but I do want to make something that I can proudly nod and say 'Yep, I wrote that'. but this latest chapter seems to be harder to write then any of the others without my muse and I am trying my best.

Full Speed Ahead! · 9:30pm Dec 14th, 2021

I can't for the life of me, figure out what's come over me as of late? Today, I wrote 1366 words into my Little Adventures tale as Cozy, Trixie, Starlight, Twilight, and now Discord all try to deal with poor Little Snack's situation, although something new just emerged... I also wrote 706 words into my Everfree Slayer story as Rarity plays cards with my villain Starfall and they discuss the meaning of life... I'm going to give Twinkle Shine a little break now since I did just release three

The Last Nightguard - Shifting Gears - When your story changes in the middle · 2:53am May 4th, 2022

Yes, that’s a problem. If you write two different stories with glue in the middle, the people who like the first part will stop at the second part, and the people who would like the second part won’t even start. I’m not Max with his Being a Better Writer series, but I’m going to toss out some examples and maybe this will help us both.

Much Easier. · 5:25am Sep 19th, 2019

Been looking over my old work.

Whoo! It looks rough, for those unaware...

I did most of my writing on a PS4, using a virtual keyboard and a controller to write stuff out. If not the dreaded console, I wrote chapters out on a cellphone.

Either not really great for writing, I'm happy to have a computer now.

So much easier to write, spell check etc.

Conflicting Ideas · 10:38pm Nov 6th, 2019

I'm having trouble writing the next chapter for my GOT fic.

One idea is that Beorn is taken under Marshalls wing after the warden hears of his fighting abilities from his father.

The second is that the war is officially underway as Bluebloods army finally crosses the Equestrian border and begins setting fires to the neighboring towns and villages.

Writing: Short-shorts and the word-count donut hole · 10:40pm Jul 4th, 2012

I've said before that the story length between short-short, and 10,000 words, is very hard. Short shorts, under 1500 words, have just one or two scenes and jump directly into the action. Stories over 12,000 words are long enough that I can rearrange the order of presentation to put something catchy at the front. But 2,000-8,000 words is hell – there aren’t enough scenes to rearrange them, yet there’s too much setup necessary to start at the beginning.

On Authorial Responsibility · 3:18am Apr 2nd, 2023

Been a long time since I did a writing blog...

When you hit that "publish" button and make your story publicly readable, what sort of responsibilities do you have about it? In most cases, the real answer is "none," or at least "none beyond the ones you decide to take on voluntarily," but there are common ones that most authors would agree they'd try to uphold.

Bridge Troll Third Sample Chapter and writing musings · 3:52am Jun 4th, 2022

Sometimes, writers get a little discouraged. Ok, a lot discouraged. When that happens, taking a different approach to a different kind of story can help break the ice. That’s more-or-less what I’m doing with the Bridge Troll story. And yes, somewhere in the back of my mind is a theoretical conversation with a book editor who says something encouraging and frightening like, “This story is pretty good and we’d like to buy it. Do you have any others?” Hey, I write fantasy. There’s no reason I

Pacing, pacing and pacing. · 7:24pm Aug 21st, 2022

Everyone has this idea that bad pacing can ruin a work of fiction, but when people try to define what pacing is, things often get muddy. Sure, someone can say that the pacing is too fast and it makes it hard to follow the work, or say, it's too slow and they got bored with it. There's nothing wrong with this, it's just expressing a view of how they feel a work failed them.
