Hearts and Hooves Day was a whirlwind, especially for Cheerilee and Big Macintosh. They remained friends in wake of the fiasco that almost ended in hasty marriage, and Cheerilee never gave their friendship any further thought. They were just friends, nothing more.

However, when she learns of Big Mac and Marble Pie's fling over the Hearth's Warming holiday, Cheerilee begins to dwell upon her friendship with Big Mac. Could there have been something more to their relationship that she hadn't realized before?

After all, hindsight is 20/20.

Takes place in the same universe as Learning Curve. Familiarity with that story is not required, but I do recommend it!

To a child, a dare is one of the most powerful known forces of compulsion, second only to a mother's command. A dare has the power to make a filly do things that they would never dream of doing normally. It has the power to make a foal do anything from mounting on a great quest, to eating a particularly nasty bug. Most of the time, the outcome is not so bright for the pony on the receiving end of the challenge.

Of course, sometimes those dares pan out in unexpected ways. Sunny Days never expected her dare to turn out in such a way that could leave an impression on her for a lifetime.

Neither did the Manticore.

"A good teacher is like a candle— It consumes itself to light the way for others."

Fresh out of college and ready to tackle her career with all of her might, Cheerilee is what some ponies would call perfect for teaching in Ponyville's schoolhouse. It's her first day on the job, and she's ready to start doing her part to help the town's foals grow to be happy, healthy adults.

Of course, there are some things that college simply can't teach. When one of her pupils begins to show signs of trouble, Cheerilee will be forced to learn a very important lesson.

Teaching is about a lot more than writing on a chalkboard.

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means its going to launch you into something great. Just focus, and keep aiming."

For Snapshot, life has ground to a halt ever since two years ago. The last Equestria Games nearly ended in tragedy because of a stray arrow in the Ice Archery event. Why in Equestria did his shot go astray? Seasoned athletes don’t make mistakes like that without a good reason…

I want to give special thanks to my prereaders Jack of a Few Trades, Quillamore, and Piquo Pie. This story wouldn't be nearly as good if you guys didn't help me out.

FamousLastWords helped out too by prereading.
