Twilight Sparkle was annoyed to say the least, when her mentor Princess Celestia dismissed her warning of the Mare in the Moon and assigned her to go to Ponyville to supervise the Summer Sun Celebration. 'Make some friends' she says.

The thing is, Twilight already had friends. Friends she's had ever since she got into Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, friends she's taken for granted for many years, friends who she just happens to bump into before leaving Canterlot and invite themselves along to the celebration.

Between the crazy ponies in this little town and the crazy ponies who call themselves her friends, she finds herself at her wit's end while being constantly sidetracked in trying to prepare for the fabled Nightmare Moon's return. After all, it's not like these old schoolmates of hers are going to be able to help prevent eternal night and the end of Equestria as they know it, right?

When I was a foal, I despised Apple Bloom more than anypony else in the world. Years later, my feelings have changed, and so have Apple Bloom and I. But some things will always be the same: she will always be honest, and I will always be a liar. To her, to my parents, to the world—and to myself.

Princess Celestia has been planning for this day for years: the return of Nightmare Moon, the restoration of the Elements of Harmony, and the ushering of Equestria into a new age of friendship and love. Now that it's finally arrived, all she has to do is wait for Twilight to get to Ponyville, make some friends, hunt down the Elements, and save the...

Wait, what'd that letter say?

She didn't get on the chariot?

She went to whose party instead?

Oh. Oh, this could be bad. And more importantly, it's gonna need some hooves-on interference from Celestia to get her master plan back on track. But it'll probably all work out in the end. After all, how big a deal could one party be?

Sunset has no desire to kill herself; what concerns Luna is that that isn't the same as wanting to be alive. In fact, it's not even close.

This is about a specific kind of deep depression: the kind where you don't particularly want to live. At one point Sunset talks about possible ways she could die, and how none of them would bother her. So if you're not up for reading things suicide related and suicide adjacent, steer clear.

Now that I've spoiled almost every aspect of the story, let me ruin the rest. I didn't tag this as "Sad" because I don't think it's sad. It's definitely heavy, but that's not the same thing.

You might disagree about whether it's sad, though, so take that into account when deciding whether or not you want to read it. If you do read, and you think it should be tagged as "Sad", please tell me in the comments. (The last thing I want to do is bring people down when they're not prepared for it.)

Twilight Sparkle, younger sister of Princess Celestia's personal student, Shining Armor, grew up listening to her brother's bygone dreams of joining the elite of the elite: The Royal Guard.

Now, fresh out of the Academy, this young mare is ready to prove herself equal to the deeds of the great soldiers she read about as a filly. Too bad the princess she ends up protecting isn't Celestia.

Twilight is ready for another normal day at Canterlot Academy. Unfortunately, a certain pink-haired girl has other plans. Those plans involve appearing in Twilight's room claiming to be her "fairy godmother". Her mission? To make sure that Twilight hooks up with her one true love and lives happily ever after.

However, Twilight isn't too interested in living "happily ever after". She just wants to get on with her day. But that's alright. All she really needs is a little fairy magic.

Robbie Rotten, after numerous failed attempts to pursue and catch the super sporty Sporticus now sets his villainy eyes (and chin) on someone who flies around more than flips around.

Or rather, somepony.

He fails spectacularly.
