Did y’all have a nice Labor Day? I got the day off and was productive enough to mow the lawn and poke at some of recent comments I’ve gotten on . . . well, you know.
So now would be a great time to complain about work.
Actually, you know what. I’m not going to complain about work today. Let’s just have a bunch of cute pony pictures, shall we?
They’re Yakutian horses, which is a real breed.
According to Wikipedia, they live in the Sakha (Yakutia) region of Siberia, and need to survive in weather that goes from 100F (38C) to -94F (-70C).
So of course they’ve got some modifications to work in that type of environment. For starters, they’re extremely floofy in the winter.
They’ve got adjustable metabolism, which makes use of seasonal resources (or lack thereof)
They have an unhealthy obsession with fire*

I don't actually know how blood sugar levels work. Is this something like negative IQ scores where it's comedically using an impossible number for the system, or is it just worryingly high?

Far as I can tell, the craze started with a picture of three real yakutian horses standing around in the snow that someone went and remade but if they were Ponies, and it was just so damn adorable people couldn't not make more.
I think mine went alright, though there was nothing particularly special about it, I think; thanks. I'm glad it sounds like yours went pretty well, except for... well, that.

(Also, I'm now wondering what a Yakutian pegasus would be capable of, with that base temperature tolerance combined with the common idea of pegasi having their own expanded temperature tolerance range.)
From what I can tell, someone posted a picture of some Jakutijan horses on /mlp/. One artist did up an MLP-esque rendition, and from there the Anons just went nuts. Don't worry, I can barely keep up with them as it is.

My summer wasn’t that bad, although it was hot and mosquito-y for longer than it shoulda been. Now it’s cooler and that’s nice. Kinda looking forward to winter, kinda not.

Normal levels are 100 to 150 for 1st thing in the morning after a 6 to 12 hour fast. Anything above 200 is kinda high. 638 is diabetic ketoacidosis level worryingly high.
Then again, sudden spikes (200 to 300) can and do result from consuming something extremely sweet.
