me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

It all ends tomorrow. Now, come on, let's be honest here. How did you get into MLP? I suppose I should start first.

Quite honestly, I have told my story a few times before but I'll tell it again I suppose.

First started seeing crossovers with... transformers I think I was on FanFiction and I was honestly bewildered why giant robots would even want to meet little ponies. Odd coupling even today, I think, if you do it wrong.

Few years on, I suppose, when Season Five was first starting to air, I decided to check out just some random episodes on Netflix just to see what the fuss was about, if I didn't like I'd move on with my life. To my surprise, I was actually enjoying Luna Eclipsed, and it still took me a bit to say to myself "yes, I like ponies". So, here I am, involved with this fandom. Funny that.

So, what's your story?

I entered the fandom through Equestria Girls. A bit boring, I know, but the High School setting and the energetic music really worked for me. I then began working my way through the show from Season 1 onwards.

I didn't think much of the brony fandom at first, or even MLP. But upon seeing some AMVs and some PMV's of some of my favorite songs, I ended up getting interested and checked out Canterlot Wedding in full and right there... I was hooked. Found season 1, worked up to the rest of the seasons to where we are now... and that's about it :twilightblush:

I got into MLP while I was in my first year of college and I wasn't much of a fan of the franchise because of the commercials that played on Cartoon Network from time to time, the theme didn't help all that much. I can't recall the exact episode that drew me in, I think it was a early Season 2 episode or a late Season 1 episode.

I started watching MLP around the second season. Later I binged watched season one and liked what I saw. Finally, reading Cupcakes is what got me into the fandom. It also got me into writing too.

i got into mlp:fim because of a YouTube poop reaction video

I need to catch up on mlp:fim

I entered MLP through Maximus_Reborn Spiders and Magic: Rise of Spider-Mane story. Then I started watching clips of the show on YouTube. I started reading more MLP stories here on Fimfiction before finally making my own account. Now, I'm here.

I'd known about MLP for sometime up until then. I remember hearing the name Fluttershy, and I do remember seeing the trailer for one of the Equestria Girls movies. I thought it looked stupid then, and I still think EQG looks stupid now. So some things never change, I guess.

But, believe it or not, this was how I actually started getting into MLP:

At the time, I only watched it to mock what I perceived was a stupid show for little girls. But then one day when I watched it again, something strange happened.

I started trying to piece the original story together.

I remember how amazed I was when I found out about Chrysalis and the changelings. It was incredible; this stupid, frilly, little girly wedding ended up being crashed by shape-shifting creatures that looked like somebody had taken one of those ponies and crossed it with a Xenomorph from Aliens. It was the weird kind of twist the sadistic side of my mind craved.

And then it became more than that. Then I started actually watching the episodes, learning about the characters, and...

...well, to make a long story short, I became a Brony before I knew what the term even was. That was around the middle of S6. I joined Fimfiction a little while later.

It's been almost three years since I first came across the strange, wonderful world of Equestria. It feels like a forever ago, now.

Season 1 was about ending or such i believe, saw a bunch of pony memes floating around the internet. The characters actually looked nice so decided to see what the buzz is about. Was nice so here i am almost a decade later. And wow so much time has passed since then.

The story that got me into the fandom was A Dark Knight For Equestria. Then this same author had a story that had The Hulk that just worked.

When I was but a young lass, I watched MLP every Saturday, because that was when it was aired. I wasn't too into it, but I do fondly remember watching "The Mane Attraction" and "The Canterlot Wedding", and my sisters and I still sing to their songs every now and then.

I hopped in and out of the show over the years. That was until I was in high school. With nothing to do, I was scrolling through Youtube's recommend. Then, out of nowhere, I see a clip of Molt Down, Spike having his wings. I was like, Spike has wings? How?! I watched the entire episode, but I had no idea who Smolder was and the Friendship School. I kept telling myself, Okay one more after this and I'm out. Spoiler alert, I ended getting addicted to MLP FIM after that. I loved seeing the reactions of the episodes, and so I got attached to Blank Check and Applegeek. I owe Season 8 for its wild changes to the show.
Then, I find Equestria Amino. There, I find out about Fimfiction. As a writer and a reader, I was hooked to this brilliant site. And here I am now, meeting amazing people like you and many others. MLP has increased my creativity, and since most people tend to lose that in high school, I am grateful for this show.

I worry for tomorrow, however, because I watched the three parters already and I know for a fact that certain people will start cursing the writers because they didn't like it and bashing others who don't have the same opinion as them. Ugh, and the Episode Discussion on the very topic will become World War III because of how uncivilized (and that's putting it lightly) people can become.

I love watching Applegeek. His reactions are how I rewatch the episodes half the time. :)

Hmmm. OK. Buckle up, this is a long one.

Now, I watched a bunch of stuff gowing up, so I was on the hub a lot, so I saw most of their trailers for MLP and shrugged them off. In fact, I thought men shouldn't like MLP, that it was for girls.

Boy was I wrong.

It all started when EQG 3:Friendship Games' trailer dropped. One line stood out to me.

"Twilight's going to play against us?"

It was Rainbow's line that sparked my interest.

As I said, the Hub had advertised FIM a lot, so I knew one of the main characters was named Twilight, and that she was a purple horse crossed between a unicorn and a pegasis.

So, when she said that line, I was curious. One of the main characters, fighting against them?

So, I memorised the date when it would air, and watched it in secret.

I.....fell in love! The art style, the music, the animation, the characters! It just.....clicked!

And at the time, I had Netflix, and all the seasons up till then were on Netflix, as well as the previous EQG movies. I watched the Other EQG movies, and the entire series as it was at that point. Giving myself context for what the hell the stuf they referenced in Friendship Games was.

While I would cringe at some more of the Girlish moments, I fell in love even more!

I went on to the internet and found the fandom, looking for theories on best human: Sunset Shimmer, specifically and found the fandom and Fimfiction. The first stories I read were Redfire's Transformers Equestria Girls and a bag of plums' Leap of Faith.

And, I've been in the fandom ever since!

To this day, I still can't say for sure what made me fall in love, but I did. And now, it's coming to a close. And I have to wait till it hits Netflix too.

I just hope G5 is as god as G4.

Well, to infinity and beyond!

Let's all go into the unknown together!

Man, can't believe it's veen seven yeats since I joined this fandom. Anyway, I got into the show thabks to YouTubers like BenTheLooney and TheHeroOfTomorrow raving about it. So, around the tjme season three was premiering, I decided to give it a shot and I've never looked back since. Hard to believe that was seven years ago and it's coming to an end tomorrow. :applecry: Seems just like yesterday I was watching the season three premiere. Man, how time flies!

Brace yourself—this is gonna take a while.

I first saw the pilot episode shortly after it came out; my younger sister was still relatively within the show's primary demographic at the time, and I had to watch over one of her "playdates". I thought it was alright, but wasn’t really interested in digging deeper.

Over the years, I had a few more brushes with the show. Several YouTubers I enjoyed professed their enjoyment of the show, I watched a couple of parody animations (mostly the ones by Piemations), and the ScrewAttack series DEATH BATTLE! featured Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Twilight in three of their episodes. But other than these quick peeps, my involvement with the show was relatively minimal.

Fast forward to late 2017, and I’m reading a random Reddit thread asking "What is the scariest/most disturbing story you have ever read?" Some guy jokingly mentioned the MLP fanfic Cupcakes, only for several people to come forward and admit that, yes, that sh*t actually was pretty f*cked up. My curiosity piqued, I looked up the story and read it.

It took about a week for my brain to forgive me.

Baffled by what I had just read, I did a little more digging. In particular, my attention was drawn to TV Tropes’ article on the fic. It mentioned that the fanfic The Light In the Darkness by Zaptiftun was a pretty affective "antidote" of sorts for Cupcakes. So I read it.

And I loved it.

Everything spiraled from there. I read a few more fanfics (becoming particularly endowed by the writings of DarthLink22 and The Descendant), peeked at a couple of fan comics, and eventually worked up the courage to watch the episodes themselves. Next thing I knew, I was a fan of My Little Pony.

There was an a bit of an adjustment period. For one thing, I wasn’t really aware of some of the series’ later occurrences. For one thing, my first encounter with Starlight and Sunburst was in the fan comic The Shadow Shard by dSana, and I initially assumed that they were OCs!

But I’m all caught up, I’ve had this user account since 2018 (when I’d gotten sick of just lurking), and I even have a few stories under my belt, with plenty more in the tank.

It’s been quite the long and winding path to this point, but I’m happy to be here.
:)

Mine was because of a reviewer called Sf Debris. He started off just doing Star Trek reviews, but later branched out into any Sci-Fi/Fantasy, his stuff is freaking amazing, and hilarious. He did a review of the pilot, and then a kind of short little thoughts on the series as a whole. (This was done just at the start of season 2). It got me interested so I checked it out, looked around a bit, binged the first season over a weekend, loved it so much I had to go back and binge it again, and that was it, I was hooked.

I first joined the show back in 2013, during the episode Keep Calm and Flutter On. Mostly due to the fact that it’s a parody of our british saying and because I was morbidly curious about how they were going to bring Discord back. Not only was it a rather enjoyable episode, but I opened up my eyes to and watched the rest of the show thus far, eventually growing an affinity for it.

Come September 2013, I became a writer on this very site and, like all people, I wasn’t very good at it. But I took some time, learned how to write properly, and now, I can honestly say that writing has changed my life for the better in many ways than one. I guess, in a way, that it’s made me smarter and better than who I used to be as a person in many ways, so I cannot thank this site and the show enough for everything that it has done to me in the past few years.

I went to BUCK 2014 as my first convention and utterly loved it to pieces. The people were lovely, the entertainment thrilling, the connection to the fans was strong and I felt nothing but adoration for it. And that was only just the beginning of my foray into conventions, with other sites like BronyCon, UKPonyCon, BronyScot, and more being such names that I have attended over the years.

And now, as we come to the end of FIM, we must now ruminate on the past, but rather look forward to the future. For, like all things, once it ends, it leaves behind history for others to look back upon and learn from and I think that the history of the show and its’ fandom is a worthy and enriching one that all people could benefit from when taken the right way. It is a shame that the ride is ending now, but all things must eventually end. Better that than they continue to zombie, and end up becoming stale as a result.

Thank you for everything, Friendship is Magic.

Equestria Girls happened. I did know of MLP, but seeing MLP humanized caught me attention, mainly the art style which reaches closely to anime. Went to the internet to check out what it is, and the first episodes I watched turned out to be the finale of Season 3. I did watched EG, but only the last moments. Went to watch the other episodes, which in a coincidence, the next one was the Season 1 premiere, and... I became a fan, though I'm not happy about my actions during the fandom.

I became invested in MLP not by the show originally, but a youtube video on one of my favourite games, Hearts of Iron IV, where a youtuber was talking about a mod for the game, which turned out to be Equestria at War. I was thoroughly impressed by the lore and gameplay that I decided to compare the mod lore to the original show. It all spiralled out of control from there.

Similar to yours, I entered the fandom through a fanfic, namely Fallout Equestria by Kkat since I was onboard the Fallout hype train at the time and stumbled on the crossover while trawling for a good Fallout story and stumbled upon the admittedly badass coverart and started reading with no knowledge of the series so I had to substitute some of the mental imagery with stuff from the games instead like replacing Enclave cloudships with flying versions of the Mobile Base Crawler from Fallout 3

Anyways, when the Mane 6's names kept popping up along with their figurines, I started growing curious so I decided to start watching the first episode on youtube(before they started taking them down) and the rest was history.

I was introduced to it after seeing an Fallout Equestria short, Into the Fire by Herostrain.

After that, I started checking out the actual Fo:E story and ended up getting hooked on such stories like Spiders and Magic, Warrior of Epicness, the list goes on.

While I never fully went full brony, I did watch a few episodes and several of the specials.

Hahaha. The how I got myself hooked on ponies is when cupcake Music Video was very up in the air in 2012, ya I'm a bit edge lord in my time in high school, and looking back at it, it gives me a laugh on how that started me to the road of becoming a brony but that only a match that start the flame. My curiosity was poked and wanted to know what show that they are and so I did, I found the first episode, in that time I'm just gonna watch one episode soon it become two then become three, in the blink of an eye I'm at its 15th episode.

I enjoy watching the show for luna at the time cause she adorable, then season two came along and introduced the changeling they instantly became my favorite Species in the show but that nothing compare when I saw her, her green eye, atoll green mane and tail, and her black carapace body: Queen Chrysalis and I knew I she had stolen my heart. On that day I hunted the internet for more of her, music, art, story Its matters not as long she is there while proudly carry the name: Brony, to this day and onward I shall die with the herd even I lay in my forever bed.

In a short story, I went through the door of my little pony and never came back.

Few glimpses and in 2012, my younger brother showed my two other brothers Shed.mov and I didn't think much after that. Then April 2013 is where I saw a review of the show, then watched the first episode when it was still on YouTube. And I've been hooked ever since. Also saw the entirety of Pony.mov afterwards.

Mine is fairly short.

My best friend introduced me to many things, mostly anime... among that were our favorite little ponies. I didn't get into the show early on, not until S2 when my parents had a little sister. I got hooked and looked into it and here I am, I will die with the herd.

Friend kept bugging me to watch it.

Was board one day so load ed s1e1 up on Netflix.

Next thing I knew it was 5 days later and I finished s5e13 and wanted more.

Which drove me to find more mlp stuff online which lead me.to videos which lead me to fanfic which lead me here which lead me to actually joining a fandom for once in my life.

Here is my story:

Back in September 2014 I was doing a Google search on bats - since bats are one of my favorite animals- and kept seeing the video "MLP Stop the Bats". This had happened quite a few times, and eventually, I got sick of it. I figured "Okay, CLEARLY this video has something to do with bats. Just check it out and move on,". I watched it, and actuakly liked, plus getting the song stuck in my head for several days too.
By November, I flipped through the channels on the TV and saw nothing good on but mlp. Having a bit of a biase towards it since I didn't understand why it was a big deal, I watched the first episode. I decided to watch some more episodes, and ... Boy was I wrong.
Since then I have been a brony ever since. This is honestly one of the best shows I have seen in the past decade, and I am so happy I joined the fandom. I don't regret that one bit.

For me it was through Doctor Who. I stumble upon one of those youtube radio show with a ponyfied Doctor.

Later, on TV while browsing, I ended up looking the end of EQG. I was aware of the My Little Pony then, but didn't think much of it, but I was totally unaware at the time about the movie playing in a human setting and thought it was another franchise. Though I did have a "wait a minute" moment, just to be it confirmed at the end of the movie.

I then look up to some episode passing on the channel, it was the end of season 4, and I thought to myself "Hey, this wasn't the cringy little girl show I thought it was. In fact it's better than the garbage cartoons airing now on CN. And it actually remind of the PowerPuff Girls style cartoon."

And lo and behold, after it a little research, that comparison was spot on since the two shows were made by the same person. I then started looking at the show more regularly and afterward watching it at the very beginning. And I joined the fandom.
