An important message for a dark subject, give a read

Pen Dragon has made an passionate and important petition, one I think is best served by their own words. So please, for the sake of a benign website that has brought such entertainment and joy to many, give this a look.

    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

Creature Feature Casting Call and Q/A Video! · 4:53pm Sep 14th, 2017

Going to be hosting a movie marathon this Sunday at midday, EST. Send in recommendations and I'll see what I can get a'hold of. I'll be showing 3 films. Only request is it

1. Be a creature feature (could be horror film, sci-fi, and/or adventure)
2. Be available online or something I can get pretty soon. Any previous films I've shown can count.*
3. I'm going to pick one modern, one from the 1970s-1990s, and one from 1960s & back; so try to have a variety!

Preferably let's not pick something overly gory as we'll probably have kiddies piling in.

========================

In additional news, Emerald Note of the ongoing Bridge dramatic reading is planning on a video which I have the honor of guest-starring in. He's requested questions from viewers that he and I will answer on the presentation. So if you got any, post 'em here to me, me via PM, Tumblr (if you don't have a Fimfic account), or to Emerald Note. We'll get right on it and be happy to include some, just be aware I'm going to limit spoiler heavy questions.

There's always THEM!, one of the big classics.

I'd suggest the ORIGINAL movie of The Mummy.
NOT the Brendan Frasier one, I mean the one from sixty (I think) years ago, that I'm pretty sure was in black and white.

Then there's the classic, original Nightmare on Elm Street, because Johnny Depp in a blender.

As for a modern one, I'd suggest you just get half-blind drunk and watch something overly bright and colourful intended for children under three.

for modern, I suggest the new 2017 Power Rangers
for 70s-90s, the FIRST Transformers Movie before Michael Bay scared the brand
as for 60s and earlier, I say The Batman Movie to honor Mr. Adam West

I'd recommend Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah for the 90's!!!

Darn it, you beat me to the punch! :rainbowlaugh:

I'd suggest The Giant Behemoth or Planet of Dinosaurs

well for the 60's how about "Night of the Lepus"

70-90s Alien or Aliens

and modern how about the Descent, Cloverfield or Silent Hill

How about The Blob? Either the one that came out in the 50s, or the 80s.

The only horror or creature feature that really comes to mind would be John Carpenter's The Thing (my favorite horror movie of all time) from 1982.

Maybe I'll get more ideas when I get home.

For the the 70's-90's, you can't go wrong with John Carpenter's The Thing.

60's and Back, go with The Green Slime, a classic cheesy bad SciFi movie, that was made by both MGM and Toei, plus it has it's own theme song.

Modern Day: The Room, There is No Way Tommy Wiseau is human, he MUST be a lovecraftian horror :rainbowlaugh:

Ooooh, this is going to a heck of a selection Tarb, so many new creature features.

For the 1990s to 1970s flick, I'd like to nominate ALIENS (1986). Not only is it one of the best sequels in existence, but it's also one of the best "Mama Bear" flicks I've seen. Ripley's protectiveness of Newt rivals that of Junior with Chibi.

As for the Modern Flick, how about Pacific Rim (2013), simply based on this quote on what you endured, and SURVIVED Tarb:

There are things you can't fight - acts of God. You see a hurricane coming, you get out of the way. But when you're in a Jaeger, suddenly you can finally fight the hurricane. You can win.
-Raleigh Becket

And as for the choice in the 1960s....that one is a little tricky for me, as I haven't really seen much of the Showa Kaiju series without the dubbing, but I'm interested. I had to make a choice, I'd chose Godzilla vs King Kong (1962) with what's coming soon, but I'll let you be the judge. :)

Deepstar 6 (1989 flick) ... very, very, VERY bad flick (so bad it becomes unintentionally good funny), but has an awesome undersea creature in it.

What about The Howling (1981), The Lost Boys (1987) and An American Werewolf in London (1981)?

I'll post a question for the Q/A.

1. Can you tell us about the characteristics of Mirror!Ghidorah, Mirror!Hunters, and Mirror!DesGhidorah?

I would say for the 60s, the valley of gwangi, Cowboys and dinsause what's not too like.

For the 70s to 90s, I would of said ALINES, but since someone has already said that lets go for Tremors or PREDATOR.

As for modern, how about Starship Troopers: Traitor on Mars.

If it hasn't already been suggested Beast From 20,000 Fathoms is a great choice from the 50s, and I think someone mentioned Them! already as well so that also gets a vote from me.

For a good creature flick from the 90s I suggest The Relic. Its not as well known as some monster flicks but I think the creature in it is one of the cooler monster designs from that decade.

For a more "modern" film, I highly recommend Troll Hunter. A 2010 "found footage" film from Norway, I think its one of the best of that genre and its got some cool atmosphere and creatures.

For 70s-90s, Jaws, because it's mother f*cking Jaws.
I'm a little less familiar with 60s creature features, but my modern choices are anything from the Monster'verse, or Power Rangers (2017).

Since you and I seem to be on decent terms, I don't really have any questions.

Edit:
Also, not sure if you're aware, but Shin Godzilla got an official dub. So, hintity hint hint.

Film suggestions, huh? Let me think... How about:
60s and back: either the original Godzilla film, Gojira, or Creature from the Black Lagoon, and old classic Universal Monster movie from the 1950s
70s-90s: I’d say either The Thing or Predator
Modern: And finally, Jurrasic World

If it's not too late, the thing with Kurt Russel and the Sacrament. Really good mocumentary based on actual events.

question for the Q&A: Who would/should voice Tytanna as suggestion?[note: not assuming she'd show in the dramatic reading]

Antique creature feature: The Thing by John Carpenter

80s/90s: IT Miniseries[you can't go wrong with Tim Curry]

Modern: The Host[korean horror flick]

For relatively modern; what about Cloverfield?

4668295
The Giant Behemoth would definitely get my vote for the classic entry
For midrange, I would favor the 1986 Transformer's movie.
For recent.... Gamera the Brave.

Oh. My. GOD!
.... how, just HOW could I forget the ultimate creature feature of all time?!

Monster Squad (1987)!!!!!!
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f6/Monstersquadposter.jpg/220px-Monstersquadposter.jpg

This movie is such a classic... perfectly encompassing the 80s in all its cheesy glory! And has the greatest line ever uttered in a monster movie, as said by Horace aka Fat-Kid: "Wolfman's got nards."

If you or the others haven't seen this movie yet, this is perfect to show!!!

Edit: Bonus... if you don't mind spoilers, here's the Nostalgia Critic reviewing it!

I recommend 20 Million Miles to Earth

Full movie is on dailymotion

Is it possible for Godzilla Final wars to be one of them? Havent seen it in a while and I would like to see it again. Besides that I'm fine with anything.

What is Xen's role/purpose now that he's been made? How big of a role does the nightmare play?

Modern: Hmm... I'd say AVP Requeim? Maybe?
80s-70s: Alien or Aliens. I don't care either way.
60s or earlier: Them, Frankenstein Conquers the World, or The Giant Claw

Personally, Id go with either Gremlins 2 or Aliens for 70s-90s, Silent Hill for the moder age, and why not The Giant Claw from the 50s?

What do you mean by Xenilla being made?

4670018
Well, why he did what he did in terms of starting a war with Jr. to toughen him up.

4670187
Well we all know that Xenilla trying to reconcile with Junior immediately might have ended up very badly

4670621
Eeyup, but I wanna see if the Nightmare Junior incident will help Xenilla get closer to Junior.
