10 years, I think it’s safe to say I was not expecting to be in this sort of position 10 years ago when I was typing up the first chapter and story details sitting in between classes at a community college I was dual-enrolled in. I wasn’t even out a high school yet, was a recluse at school even if I did have friends, and was still primarily talking to my long-distance girlfriend through this ancient and archaic program which some of you might have heard of in times of old… It was called Skype!
2012 to 2013 when major work started on this project was a very different time for both MLP and Godzilla. I really don’t think you probably get to see a project like Bridge again, and that’s not me saying I think Faith-Wolff and I’s labor of love child is the best there could be. Just that the ecosystem for fan works as well as those two franchises have changed a lot in a decade.
In the early 2010’s, MLP:FiM was starting to ride at its height outside of just meme culture and there were announcements of potentially a full-on movie. The world of those characters had some expansions upon, but it was a slice of life show and it excelled at that. Which meant fun stories as well as tantalizing clues for content creators to pick up on and expand upon. We didn’t know everything about everything and that left a lot of ambiguity, which I think is the perfect storm for fan creations.
And the Godzilla franchise and kaiju genre in general? What else is there to say but it exploded? Pacific Rim was an excellent primer, but this one is the very last years of the “Dark Age” for Tokusatsu properties and especially kaiju genre films. There certainly were some fun outings between 2004 and 2014, and there were also some releases like comic books or video games that help keep the fire going. But ever since 2014 kicked the door open, the genre probably is going through the biggest golden age since the 60s on both sides of the Pacific!
When I meaning is, if someone were to make a crossover of a similar variety now, the end result might be fascinatingly different than Bridge. They might choose to use the generation five world if they want to do world building and expansion that hasn’t been covered yet. They might choose to stick to the generation for world knowing everything that is about to come. They may go with an amalgamation just like I did for the kaiju property but this time with Equestria! And what of the giants? Even if they were played similarly as characters and as approachable, maybe new authors would choose to use the Monster’verse, Singular Point, or other series over the Heisei Saga anchored world Bridge did?
There’s a whole new crop of concentrators on so many platforms on the Internet making fan works that grew up with properties I saw come out over the course of Bridge’s run. And I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
As for me? I got to make a fun series alongside my beloved, and she showed off on so many occasions why I admire her so much. On this project and so many other she is committed herself towards. I like to think it helped me cultivate my talents as an author, and this year I put out my very first book. It led to people coming to both of us for advice on their own projects and I think both of us sometimes get equally flummoxed and a bit surprised they’re coming to us of all people!
Bridge got the attention of some really great people, once I am very honored to say have become my friends over the years. I went from having a social sphere of maybe two or three people I interacted with on a daily basis, to well over two dozen on and off-line.
And I know one way or another I would be a much less happy person if I had met the people I did. But before and after Faith and I started working on what seemed like a crazy idea….

Thank you, Tarb, for making this story. Honestly, when I first saw this story, I wasn't sure how MLP and Godzilla together would really work, but then as I read through the story, my eyes were opened to a world that shocked me one moment, then had me howling with laughter with stupid shenanigans the second.
I look forward to further chapters, and to see where this story ends up taking us next!

I'm not a big Godzilla fan (big Godzilla fan, what am I saying
), so I want to say I started reading it around the time that the battles against Grand King Ghidorah were wrapping up. I don't clearly recall if that's the case, but at any rate, thanks for all of the effort that the both of you have put in over the years. >^_^<
I am so happy to have found this story and been on this journey. I haven’t been around the full ten years but I do believe I’ve been here for the last three or four and it has been a roller coaster! This story is just so amazing! I came into this story being only barely a Godzilla fan and not a MLP fan and didn’t really see how these series could blend but you have managed to create a story that I can genuinely say is my favorite not just on this website but just out of all the fanfics I’ve read.
I look forward to seeing where you go with this story and how you get there.

You have done such a wonderful job with the story. The characters are on point. The story is fantastic. Very well written. Though there are a few cases where characters have the wrong colored speech text, but that's minor. Overall, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I will ALWAYS want more of The Bridge.

I never took any of your comments seriously and the only reason I didn't block you was both in the remote hope you might self-correct, but also because I found your disparaging comments so childishly petty and arrogant that they turned around and became amusing to me. Time does have a habit of creeping up on us, doesn't it? Glad to have been sharing the road with you so far, Tarb, and looking forward to seeing where the next ten years of walking down it might lead. Even after The Bridge finishes, sometime down that road, there's no dobut it'll have left quite the impact on all the folks you've come across along the way. That, by itself, is worthy of some celebration.
Two days late, but congratulations bud. You should be proud. Most media is lucky to get more than a year. To last ten is an achievement.

I discovered Bridge back in late 2015 or early 2016. I was bored out of my mind and wanted some Godzilla related content. Godzilla 2014 was a blast! Went to watch it in theaters three times. Couldn't tell you how many times I watched it when I got the Blu-ray. 😂! The 10 year gap between Godzilla Final Wars and Godzilla 2014 was a rough ride. And not wanting to wait another 10 years I tried the internet again. Fair to say back then and even now I'm kind of inept when it comes to the internet. I found some good Kaiju stories here and there. But then I came across (Godzilla x MLP : The Bridge). And thought "What the hell is this sh!+?!". Couldn't find anything else worth looking at that I haven't already seen and you can't dislike something till you try it. So I started reading back in early 2016. And I haven't stopped. You and Faith created a world... no. A universe that I didn't even know I wanted to exist. I could go on and on and on about all my favorite things about The Bridge. But I probably said too much as it is. Sorry. Hehe. So... Congratulations on making the story amazing for 10 years! And I'm one person who wouldn't complain about another 10.

Thanks for creating this series, showing a crossover with a kaiju franchise doesn't need to be just the horror and violence of its darker parts. There's space for fun, for silliness, for bravery and kindness.

Hard to believe it's been ten years. I remember that when I came upon this story, I was looking at godzilla mlp crossovers to see if at least I could get a few laughs. Once I started reading, I was hooked. Thank you so much for this story, tarb.
