    I'm the worst :D

    I know! Terrible.

Just popping in for my periodic State of the Dancer, you know how I do.

Previously, I was lamenting my lack of free time due to the whole working full time and having my smol child. I decided to add to that by rebooting the soap business.

Professor Plum made a really excellent bridesman, and as soon as I get the pics back with him in his kilt, they'll be incoming

and Sicily for the honeymoon was just

    Oh hey

Wow, been a hot minute, eh?

I've missed this site. Last year, I went through Some Shit over the summer and fall, and then I got engaged in November to a very nice man.

We get married in five days, and I had noticed a lot of registry gifts coming in all of a sudden with real names attached that I did not recognize.

    NEW PLAN

Germany is kiboshed, unfortunately--lots of rl stuff going on around con-time.

So, instead, I'll be at Bronycon so I'm closer to home :)

Can't wait to see you guys!

This Hotel Is Now Ducks: A Bronycon Wrap-Up · 12:15pm Aug 17th, 2017

I'll try to keep this short-ish :p

Thursday, FoughtDragon01 and I left my house at around 7:30am to make the drive to Majin Syeekoh's to pick him up, too. Then we turned round and headed back south to Baltimore.

We got in safe, met up with Petrichord, and got settled.

Then, we went on the Bar Trot!

This was my second year on the Trot, I believe, and while there were definitely bad bits, it was mostly great! The highlight was probably FoughtDragon01 helping a couple of more sober bronies get a Lyft for their extremely drunken friend (who shall remain nameless).

On Friday, I did my first ever proper cosplay, and the nervousness was real y'all

FoughtDragon01 dressed as a very sharp Spike with an awesome hat and wandered around with me, which was fun :D

I also got to meet Sparknanator that day! He was really nice and while I didn't see him the rest of the weekend (I think, a lot of it's a blur), it was super awesome to put a face to a name I'd seen around so much!

I believe that was also the day I met The Canadian Delegation, comprised of GaryOak and his popsicle, Reia Hope, who's FimFic account I cannot seem to find; and Horse Voice. I had a blast babbling about horsefic to all three of them (admittedly, mostly to HV), and perhaps it was ingrained Canadian politeness that made them all put up with me :D

Saturday was the longest day of the con for me. It was also the worst in a lot of ways, but it was good in others. I did another cosplay because why not

Which later got utterly soaked during our mad dash to Tir Na Nog through the severe thunderstorms.

My tiny corner of the dinner. I think there were what, like 34 or 54 of us or some such nonsense? It's always huge, but credit where it's due--that waitress we had was a p r o f e s s i o n a l. We were sat, watered, fed, and were back out within two hours. It's usually a four hour comedy of errors, so props to her!

FoughtDragon01 and Professor Plum, ready to drop the most fire mixtape of 2017

Later on, I had my panel. Honestly, I didn't have a great time at it and it got very irritating and frustrating at parts, but GaryOak and anonpencil were my favorite parts of it. I got to read bad fanfic out loud with Gary, and I got to flirt with anonpencil :3 Thanks also to Applejinx and Flutterpriest for bouncing actual writing advice at a mostly drunk crowd--u the real mvps

Sunday was the final day. I got my silly selfie with Professor Plum

And we also went to a Brazilian steakhouse. I forget who's idea it was and I frankly don't care because it was a m a z i n g

The alcohol poured freely and the puns flew fast and thick. It was great :D

Also, meat

Sunday night, ducks happened. That's all you really need to know. Ducks.

And then Monday morning we went home :D

Just some thanks:

Wanderer D - It's always awesome to see you!

Corejo - dude seriously you get the gold star for everything from like, midday Saturday onwards.

Ferret - I kept missing you in Quills! I should hang out there more.

Bookplayer - It was wonderful to see you! I wish I'd gotten more time to talk to you this year. Til the next year!

This is all over the place but whatevs--these wrap-ups are rarely coherent.

I came home with a new passion for writing that'd been missing for a long time due to the burden of stress.

<3

See you next year!

"Sharp" is right! I am insanely jealous of that hat! D:

Your cosplays look great, you needn't have worried. :D

Thank you. I'm just getting to that "am I getting too old to cosplay" mindset, but I appreciate the feedback :D

PSSH

I've seen old ladies cosplaying, you're nowhere near old enough to start worrying about that! >:B

Of course Dragon had a sweet hat. When does he not?

4637856
It literally arrived Wednesday, he showed up at my house Wednesday night lol

I saw you around, but we never really touched base. I hope we'll correct that next year.

That said, amazing cosplay.

4637839
You can never really be too old to cosplay. Just be careful, thought, to not cosplay characters that are too far away from your own age group. You are perfectly inside the young adult age group, so you fit quite nicely with the Mane 6. The one who should worry would be me, being old enough to do Gendo Ikari (from Evangelion).

4637881
I... am not considered a young adult anymore, I don't think. I'm 36. But thank you :duck:

It was good and fun to see you as always Dancer. Until next year!

You mean BONUS DUCKS

I'm sorry we kept missing each other, but the rare time we did connect was wonderful.

4637892
I have a photo of you smooshed against a window, it's great fun :3 And it's always good to see OH MY GOD IS THAT ROBCAKERAN53, AUTHOR OF MY LITTLE DASHIE?!?!?!?!?!

4637879
I remember running across you here and there, but there was so much coming and going that it was like I couldn't dedicate time to people in particular D:

QUACK QUACK

4637920
For sure  And hey, there's always next year! And then I'll actually be able to like, give people the soap I brought.

Hmm, I seem to be the Bigfoot of BronyCon: Lots of people claim to have seen me, but photos are few, indirect, and blurry. :rainbowlaugh:

and perhaps it was ingrained Canadian politeness that made them all put up with me :D

In seriousness, we all thought you were fun to chat with. We of the Delegation all like socializing more than the average brony, possibly because we accidentally scared off all the shy people back home. (Oops.)

I forget who's idea it was

Gary's. That trip was his baby, and he worked like mad to make it happen, long after I would have given up and gone somewhere else.

4637839
You look young, so whatever. Besides, it isn't like you had been cosplaying a Crusader.

4637948
See, some people are weird about having their photo taken, and I'd only just met you, so I didn't ask.

4637950
This is also true. Though I think I'd make an adorable Applebloom.

I AM BECOME DUCK
DUCKSTROYER OF DUCKS

I think I took a picture of you in the panel, but... iPhone. There's about five little bright pixels.

It was a hoot hanging out with the bunch. Sorry I missed the dinner.

Don't worry, I loved your cosplays. And the puns. And the ducks.
