Should have more hearts

<3/10 IGN

About time. <3

Let us hope we get something anything near as cute as a baby dashie with daddy flashback. LET THE CUTENESS RAIN DOWN AND PURIFY THE JADED SOUL!

4523188 It's fine just as it is, >9000/10

When Rainbow Dash's parents disc-

Stop. You sold me. This episode will be amazing. :pinkiecrazy:

knighty, pls. >.>

... The <3 is a heart, not indicating less than 3.

4523211
I hope that hogwash awhile back about the flashback of rainbow's dad not being rainbow's dad by the showrunners was just a joke...
Also Firefly ftw even though 99% sure she isn't in it.
Expecting something probably different

Here's hoping that this isn't a simple "Continuously Fuck With RD" episode...

4523211 Fun fact. Lauren Faust originally tried to get Firefly into the show, but copyright issues prevented it. So in the seasons after she left, Firefly is only a mentioned Wonderbolts general. If Hasbro was to get a Firefly design in the show, that would likely be a big "fuck you" to Faust.

Wait a minute, is this episode being released early, too? Or is this just prep for next week? Canada's already a full week ahead of us. :twilightangry2:

4523233 I fail to see how it would be an F.U. to her. I figured if they did get Firefly in this, it would be a nice nod to the original inspiration. Also, the copyright/trademark issues may have changed since then based on Hasbro releasing a Transformer under the name Firefly in the last couple years.
tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/1/16/Generationstoy-Firefly.jpg
Sometimes, issues like these happen, like when Hasbro lost the rights to the name Bumblebee ironically around the time of Beast Wars.

4523233

Yeah, but would Hasbro even want to do that after what Faust created for the company?

I mean would Hasbro really want to upset Lauren Faust with underhanded trick like that ?

4523254 With what they've done to the series so far, I thought they already had.

4523256

How so...Please explain it to me ?:rainbowhuh:

4523216 Yeah, I always fall in that image trap :rainbowlaugh:

I can actually relate to this. I just hope they won't go too far with this and make another Dashie cringe-fest.

Can I just ask, which idiot thought of Rainbow's dad's name? I mean seriously? I find it hard to take him seriously with a name like THAT.

4523256 Do you always have to be a jerk, Kyurem? ...Really? Was that needed?

4523199 Oh, we all want that. Any time we see the Mane Six as fillies is always cute.

4523266

Just wait till the Applejack parents ep. apparently despite repeated hints of being dead over the years, Hasbro has pulled a 180 and not only confirmed them alive, but apparently they have lived a Romeo and Juliet style romance when they met. Still no explanation as to where they have been for the past seven seasons...

The stream is sticky and smells like maple syrup.:pinkiesick:

4523234 Yeah, it's airing in Peru today from what I heard.

4523192 Probably part of their jobs, embarrass their kids. I know from experience.

I'm gay for Dash's mom.

My stream crashed and I missed Rainbow Dash's screaming at her parents. :rainbowlaugh:

4523298 MY reaction to this?
roundstable.com/forums/images/smilies/facehoof.png :facehoof:
However this goes, it doesn't effect my own headcanon about AJ's parents one teeny iota.
Mainly because in mine, they're both dead and they're STAYING that way.
Well, with only ONE teeny exception that is. But that's hush-hush for now.
I also ain't using the rather lame names that DHX came up with for them. Stickin' with the ones that I came up with for them.

Same for Rainbow's parents' names.

I mean, seriously, WHY do folks let CANON things like that effect the headcanons for things like this that we fans come up with?
I mean, they're called HEAD-canons for a REASON, folks.
Not only THAT, but it absolutely boggles my mind WHY, if a fan doesn't like certain things IN a show's canon, and they come up with a headcanon that THEY like BETTER, then why all the boo-hooing and bellyaching about "Oh, that destroyed/shattered my headcanon about that!"
In THAT, case, what's the point in even come UP with headcanons that you think might be overturned in a later season, or whatever?
Effort in futility, right?

Me, I don't care WHAT the show might throw at us in Season 7 and beyond.
I have my own headcanons about stuff like this, and I'm stickin' to 'em.
Period.
No "ifs", "ands", or "buts".

Okay, yeah, I generally do my best to stick to canon when it comes to cartoons, shows and books that I like, but when the show's writers come up with ludicrous stuff like THIS?
I'll stick with my own headcanons, thank you very much.

You're telling me that Rainbow Dash knew Lightning Dust prior to that one episode that I forget the name of?

Darn, I wish we saw Scoot's parents in a flashback.

Guess Soarin/Spitfire/Fleetfoot aren't that much older than Dashie.

Great episode 10/10.

4523298 I think they are explorers like Daring Do! At least I think that's what Hasbro said.

4523233 or a tribute? Maybe get her to voice her. Doubt it but maybe.

4523343 Still wouldn't make them good parents, I mean up and leaving their kids without any notice to fend for themselves and work the farm with only Granny to watch them...? Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this picture?

This episode scares me. They managed to make super annoying fans not all that annoying for the audience. Even the squeeing wasn't that bad. Also, are we seriously going that angle with Scootaloo? She basically said she didn't have parents who supported her, either going the orphan route (in which case, wtf Dash) or just hasn't not particularly good parents. Nice to see at the beginning when the others suggested other ways to get to Cloudsdale, Scootaloo would've taken their ideas. The over active fangasms were a bit annoying, but a lot were funny (sound effect door was amazing) and it was supposed to be much more annoying for the characters. I really liked the Wonderbolts in this one too, as they never gave Rainbow genuine crap over the situation (unless when the stream skipped for me), just some teasing. Another great moral, another very good episode, though still short of an amazing. Still, the CMC have been freaking amazing for quite awhile now, and it's very nice to see them able to help their older sisters and Dash learn. Another 8 or 8.5.

4523281

He has said multiple times that being a jerk to people is basically why he comes to this site.

As for the episode, why is everyone talking like it's a Rainbow Dash episode? It was clearly a Scootaloo episode, she was the emotional center of everything that happened in it.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty great episode. Structurally it wasn't anything amazing, but it had a lot of heart and sincerity behind it in the form of Scootaloo's reactions to everything, and the seeming confirmation that Scootaloo has been lacking a family all this time. She doesn't say she didn't have parents, but she basically says she didn't have parental support... which to a developing child, is basically the same thing. Scootaloo being basically "adopted" at the end by Rainbow's parents to cheer her on was really sweet, and a fitting continuation of Rainbow Dash taking her on as her sister in a previous episode.

A few chuckles, and a lot of heart. I give it a passing grade.

anyone got a link to the episode

4523358 And he has yet to be banned yet why? Can someone answer me that?

4523344 The only 'tribute' I know was the hinting of Applejack's parents being deceased and making it canon in "Apple Family Reunion".

4523279 Haven't heard that kind of complaint since the name Bulk Biceps was canon. :rainbowlaugh:
4523281 You do know there's a group called "We hate what's happened to MLP" and I'm in it.
4523366 Oh, so are you the one following me and down voting me every turn? If you're really asking why some users aren't banned yet, get a life.

4523358 Actually, I gave that up for the most part.

4523261 For starters, Cadance wasn't intended to be an alicorn. Hasbro did that.

4523376 Well, if you've seen the name you'd know exactly why I'm laughing at it. As for you getting downvoted at every turn, that's not me I can Pinkie Promise you that, but you do keep digging yourself deeper with the users who dislike you with pretty much every rude comment you make.

4523298
:facehoof: The episode is going to about the PAST events.

4523383 Then these users who dislike me should get over me and move on and I'll do the same. This means you. Alright?

4523351 Yeah they didn't even come to Apple Bloom's Cute-ceañera I hope they get a talking to in that episode!:twilightangry2:

4523388
True, but Hasbro has always skirted away from any subject involving character death. (The closest theyve come to it was Tank's hibernation ep.) The ep will be a Romeo and Juliet story. Again it is highly doubtful they die at the end or there would be no AJ, Big Mac, or Applebloom. The ep is generating a lot of speculation as to where they actually are due to Hasbro pretty much announcing they are still alive despite former convention interviews confirming them dead.

This episode is just going to raise support for Scootabuse or Scootaloo Orphan stories isn't it?

Dammit.

4523400

Considering Scootaloo was "spiritually adopted" at the end of the episode, her being an orphan has more canon support than her having parents ever did.

4523398

The song AJ's mother is confirmed to sing is in a Flashback. For all we know currently the episode could simply involve Granny Smith telling the kids how their parents met. They don't have to show them dying at the end, just not say what happens to them after.

I couldn't find anything on the internet stating that their parents are currently alive.

The facial animations though...

Also still adds how Derpy is still Best Pony. :derpytongue2:

This is easily the best RD episode of the entire series, and the best episode of the season.

So much second-hand embarrassment in this episode.

And another case, where if the characters simply talked to each other and explained themselves, the issues could've been easily resolved and there wouldn't been any problems.

Like, "Mom, Dad, I'm in the middle of training, please come back in half an hour and we'll catch up". Or "Mom, Dad, please stop screaming and hollering during the show. It's distracting". And so on...

EDIT: And seriously, shooting fireworks into the sky while they're performing?

EDIT2: whoa, so RD knew Spitfire and other 'bolts when she was filly and was winning against them even then?

EDIT3: damn, so disappointed that the creators chickened out at the last minute and didn't say it out loud that Scoots was an orphan. Though, I think, they still hinted at that rather heavily.
