We're back... but it's likely slow going.

So, in answer to the MANY people who keep asking when i'm going to update any of my fics despite my having a blog that explains WHY they've ALL been left unupdated over the last 3-4 months, my library is open again, so i should be able to finally get back to writing.

Is it what you all "really" want? · 12:12am Nov 13th, 2016

In my previous blog i asked whether everyone would rather i make the side story to Twilight's Twinlight about Ken going back in time to become Clover the Clever, or it be a different story separate from Twilight's Twinlight, with a different human becoming Clover the Clever.

While i am glad to see so many support the idea of making the side story, i'm surprised you all just want it that easily, when i've realized there would then be a GLARING plot hole in it.

We all know that when Starlight goes back in time using the map, she stops the Rainboom, stopping Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 from becoming friends and gaining their cutie marks at around the exact same time, resulting in all those alternate timelines.

However, for me to work Ken being Clover into the canon of Twilight's Twinlight, there is a big problem with this. When Ken is transported into Equestria, he is turned into Twilight's double in every way, including being an Alicorn. But, in each alternate timeline, due to Twilight not becoming Celestia's student, she wouldn't have become an Alicorn, which would mean Ken would not have had the baseline of Twilight's Alicorn form in the eather to change him into her upon arrving in the alternate timeline equestrias, which would also mean Clover the Clever could never be an Alicorn and unite the tribes due to that (unless I dues ex machina that, upon creating the Tree of Harmony, Clover has created new magic, resulting in her becoming an Alicorn), being just a normal unicorn.

Or worse, her never even ending up back in time, meaning Clover the Clever would've never existed, thus the three tribes would not have been able to create the Fire of Friendship, dooming the world to the windigoes winter.

So, i ask again, knowing of this huge plot hole, do you truly want me to make The First Princess of Equestria a canon side story to Twilight's Twinlight? I want to know because, in all honesty, the only way i can think of making that work is if, due to time magic already being present on Clover, it makes her a singularity point, so, even in the alternate timelines, another version of herself turning into a double of Twilicorn would always appear in those caves, no matter the timeline.

so, what do you want, canon or not canon? It's your choice, guys and gals.

Maybe you could have Ken be "immune to temporal changes?" All I know is that in Squirrel Girl Volume #3, there was this time travel thing and they used something to make people immune to changes in history. Maybe that could work, maybe not. I'm sure everyone will be supportive regardless (myself included).

I'm still for a different human being clover the clever. They can still be a Twilight double ending up in the future later (Discord's fault probably), but it negates the plot holes. It would also give the character time to develop on their own and forge their own relationships with characters such as the young Celestia and Luna before ever finding out that she is a double of another alicorn in the future.

Plus that initial meeting with Twi would be amusing.

What about having the Starlight incident be the reason Ken goes back in time to become Clover in the first place. When Twilight and Ken confront Starlight in the castle instead of them both being sent back to when the rain boom happened Ken somehow gets sent back to the hearts warming eve time. That way it's the event of time travel that caused her to go back and being sent by the spell from the original timeline means she/he keeps his base form of Alicorn. You could then make it she is sent back once Starswirl finishes writing the spell that Starlight altered to travel through time.

I like the singularity point, reminds me of the oswald girl from doctor who. You could make it like a stable paradox loop, in the alternate timelines where twilight isn't an alicorn, you could have her messing with a lost starswirl spell that summons a lost soul and creates a body based off the nearest creature and then use the idea of ken/clover being the one who created harmony magic.

That's just a suggestion though. You could also use the fact that ken's soul had to pass through the void to get to equestria and she picked up protection against time tampering from there to make the time line she is in a locked down versoin.

easy, just ken being there alone causes alterations. Heck ken could be in the castle and capture Starlight. You don't have to follow the show word for word or episode to episode. Ken is ther at this certain time and go from there. hell you could have ken and Twilight be i nthe human world for Friendship games. Don't have it a side story but a sequel after the main arc of ken being Twilight then throw the time travel in.

remember this you are the author and as such you can make things how you feel fit.
follow your muse if it wants things to happen than so be it.
as to the story line well there are way to many authors out there now who have destroyed story from trying to follow the show.
yes I know here comes the torches and pitch forks I really don't give a buck.
I say throw the cannon out the door and lock it.
after all AB you are a five score righter and the cannon there stopped back in season 5.

4299764 i agree with you

you could always say that the timeline ignores an unsolvable paradox out of self preservation

There is a lot theory you don't about time since timey wimey confusion where some factor came in and some don't since no one human prove theory in evidence or written in history and make more difficult because since this world are in difference universe than our world make the law of physics so that it enable the exist of myth animal and grant pony with magic. And also affecting the time in how the law of this universe work and That because in multiverse theory ,all universe can't have the perfect similar law fir example our world could not have magic while some of the other world could do magic but since the story is fiction and we do not confirm the theory yet but it will make sense when the human get a technology that can get test the theory of the multiverse. But right now ,we just gonna speculate how the story and it the reader and the author to imagine how time travel work like where Twilight ,Spike and Starlight did not affected by time since it was the follow told by the destiny from the DHX theory or your theory as would been suggested that Equestria pony gonna extinct and the land become dessert frostland but remember this timeline is a river or a tree flow where there are many branch where it lead to the doom of time or the time will continue eternally as long as it can or ever forever but it will never merge two world of different time become too become one world or the timelines intersected will become chaos and doom Equestria in a way that we can't imagine what the effect do to them. And timelines are also different since all the universe are different and cannot be similar perfect .So it the end ,I wanted to told you the story you created can be any theory to what happened to Equestria but don't let the story in the end where all live in Equestria are extinct because that will be a great sadness and fear to the reader if you let the world die but it your choice of what story that decide the fate of Equestria of your story.

Just by being in Equestria ken has fucked up any timeline, there is no way of preserving the original set of events with the addition of the human turned pony. Ken's own intro would create multiple new timelines as she is anchored in the past as the alicorn clover the clever.

No I told you what I want I want it to be a different human

Honestly, I just like the stories of somebody going into the past and having the author write about Equestrian past; I can't get enough of those stories, so I just want one written.

The fanon of fanfics is constantly screwed up by new episodes. Tens of thousands of changelings fics alone were probably ruined by the season six finale. Some premises totally ignore show canon and are great stories. The point is that you don't have to be absolutely faithful to show canon, as long as you tell a good story that is consistent within itself.

Personally I did not mind the side trip to the past, although perhaps going to Canterlot could have been delayed a while until Ken was more established. That's just my personal opinion though.

4299752
That just might work.

I agree with a lot in this comments section. The show's canon is all over the place and most fanfictions use it simply as a base. You shouldn't follow it to the letter unless you absolutely want to.

... This is going to sound bad, but what I'd really like is for you to take on the authorial authority to write whatever the heck you please. I would only ask that, whatever direction you choose to go in, you have an idea of where things are going so that you can avoid another rewrite.

This is your story, and you're writing it for you. We're just along for the ride.

Well, it's a stable time loop. In the end, Starlight's changes were undone anyways, meaning that Ken's changes stay; it doesn't matter that Starlight prevented Twilight from becoming an alicorn, because taking history's point of view, the past already happened and was already changed.

It's what I would say.

Besides, the writing staff has been completely changed from the past seasons, and it seems that no-one is bothering to keep track, since season 1 said Ponyville was founded hundreds of years ago, but season 2 said Granny Smith was there, therefore making ponies live hundreds of years quite easily if you take canon at face value.

I exploit the hell out of it, naturally.

4299752 Or you could say that something happens during the Time paradox that creates a clone of Ken, then clone Ken gets sent back in time to become Clover the Clever, while Ken Prime(original Ken) continues his adventures in the present.

Idk, food for thought?

due to time magic already being present on Clover, it makes her a singularity point, so, even in the alternate timelines

Makes sense to me.

4300016 I like to think that the spell Starlight uses during the paradox event wouldn't exist if it weren't for Ken going back in time and meeting Starswirl. Thus Ken becoming Clover the Clever is actually a fixed point in the timeline that can't be changed without causing a end-of-the-universe scenario.

You have to remember if Ken goes back that far than the time line won't effect him because he is beyond that time line were it would effect the future not the past. As for him being an alicorn Clover the Clever always wore a hooded cape that could hide the wings and Clover created the elements of harmony I don't know about you but that amount of power to do that has to be at alicorn level.

oh i KNOW this is all kinds of messed up in terms of TIME
i mean...
look at the recent Flash TV series
SPOILS
At this point in the TV show one of the biggest Villain's was ERASED from time, but still appears in other shows AND later Seasons
So in terms of what you have here...not the BIGGEST plot holes
but if you want to do something about it you can simply make Ken into a normal unicorn when going back. why?
well it could be plot convenience, or it could be that Clover the Clever WAS an ancestor of Twilight's Line, and Celestia thought she was suppose to go back and complete the time line, but it never worked for reasons that KEN was suppose to go back.

If you want, Ken, in future chapters, still has trouble controlling his magic. He can do great things when he reacts, but he can never activate his magic consciously .
He goes with Twilight to Canterlot to see she can find anything, but in the meantime she gives Ken a book Celestia made her read as a student early on.
The book IS the autobiography of Clover. Ken reads the foreword which contains the spell needed to start this quest.

You don't really must follow canon all the time, take the Author's license an do your own thing with it!
