A new project, and an explanation!

    Hey folks,

Alternate title for this blog post: I'm Doing a Thing (and I'm looking for help)

I don't think anyone is surprised that my pony writing has been on a bit of a hiatus for a while, and my presence on this site is mostly to lurk-and-read rather than finish my long-delayed stories. What you might not know, though, is what I've been doing instead of pony writing.

Just blasted right now · 2:23pm Jul 29th, 2014

Hey folks,

So, if you hadn't heard, I managed to win "The Most Dangerous Contest" with that changeling story of mine, 'For Whom We Are Hungry.'

I don't have a complete post for you now, but I had to get some thoughts down before I collapse in bed. I'm truly honored that the judges and so many readers believed FWWAH deserved to win -- I had a blast writing it, and I think it might be one of my favorite of my own short stories.

If you haven't already, please go check out the other finalists. They were all incredible, but I want to add a special shout-out to Lucky Dreams and "In the Place the Wild Horses Sleep." I actually gave that story my first-place vote, simply because I've never seen another children's story done so well on this site.

I promised I would post a review of all the finalists, and I will! Just, tomorrow. I managed to finish my Masters Degree yesterday, I've been a bit sick the past few days, and we've been very busy here with kinetic activity (i.e. rocket attacks). I didn't get a chance to log on yesterday, and completely forgot that the contest had ended until I logged on just now to see Obs' post.

Thanks again, all. More to come, but I'm just blasted right now.

You finished your Master's while deployed?

And I thought I had problems...

Oh Cold in Gardez, how can you be so flippant, yet so desirable.

Just turned in my final paper yesterday.

It's nice. I'm really glad that's done.

Now I need to go collapse in bed for a while.

Try not to be blasted when dealing with that kinetic activity. We need more stories out of you!

Also, congratulations on winning the contest.

Congrats on both winning story and masters! :yay:

Many congratulations, CiG. You definitely earned the win.

Congrats on the contest win and the Master's, and please try and stay out of the way of the kinetic activity. :twilightoops:

I LOVE YOU KENPACHI RAMASAMA

Wait, shit, how am I not following you?

Well, fixed that now, at least.

Looking forward to this. TYFATS has gotten the full spectrum of hate/love, but I have to admit I voted for yours far above mine.

Stay safe, and may all of your kinetic energy absorbed be hugs. :pinkiehappy:

Congrats! And stay safe!

Congratulations on finishing your Masters and winning the contest!

Dear 2325832,

Congrats! BTW your story was my #1 choice, so please allow me to be smug about it!

Second, congrats on finishing your Master's degree. While on deployment, even! You deserve to be smug about that! Here's a well earned :yay:!

Wow. I just wanted to add my congratulations on to the pile, and good luck with the missile-fu.

Congrats on the Masters, and on the contest win!

Stay safe and don't get rocket-blasted!

Congratulations on both accomplishments, sir. I know that in your boots I'd feel both proud and relieved.

Holy smokes you've had a busy week. I'm just going to comment now so that I can say I knew you before you cured cancer. (At this rate, that should be Thursday morning sometime.)

Seriously, major congratulations on everything! Take some time for yourself and celebrate. :pinkiehappy:

Scrolling through my feed, I saw two phrases out of the corner of my eye.

blasted

rocket attacks

I briefly wondered how the hell you were able to type that after being hit by a rocket, then I looked closer and realized that I'm an idiot.

I just assumed you didn't like me.

It hurt, man :(

Grats on finishing your Master's and not getting blown up.
