Hello, everyone!
Given recent events that involve individuals of this site making disparaging remarks about a certain mod who will remain unnamed, I have taken upon myself to illuminate everyone as to how to rant properly. Because, really.
So I present to you, the mildly ranty:
How To Rant About Someone
Step 1: Know your enemy. (Aka Wanderer D the mod in question)
He's not a new mod. And he has proven to know the rules and/or helped write them. So make sure, when you rant about him not knowing the rules, that you actually know for a fact he's breaking them. Or she, since we don't know the identity of said mod.
Step 2: Once you know your enemy, investigate the facts.
If you're rising in defense of a friend, good for you! Stick by that motto of 'protect my own' just try to make sure it's not: 'protect my own against clear evidence of them acting like a kid and basically making a fool of himself/herself'. Again, make sure, if you're going to accuse someone of abusing their modly powers, that they are in the wrong. Like, for example, banning you for smiling. That's abuse. Deleting a story for breaking the re-submitting/do not remove and just re-post chapters rule? Not abuse.
Make sure that if you're calling him or her an asshole, that he or she actually /was/ an asshole. Let's use a random example that is certainly not related to the particular case that inspired this blog:
... yeah, what an asshole. Carry on!
Step 3: Now that your motives are clear, think it through and at least have a plan of where to go with the whole thing. Then, in a sarcastic, angry and possibly witty manner... go for it!
Step 4: Never, ever, put up a youtube video of yourself doing said rant and letting off uninformed steam, link it in a public forum and then expect people to NOT find out about it. Also, don't tell the mod in question that you don't care if you're banned for stating your opinion. (That would be modly abuse, but it's better not to tempt fate.) But also don't expect the Mod to not find out and share his/her thoughts on it. Like, for example, pointing out that he or she has been a mod here for a while, so they're not 'new'.
Step 4.5: After the mod in question has taken the time to add your video to his favorites and also thumbed it up because he thought the whole thing was brilliant... don't delete it! Keep if for posterity! He might have forgotten to download it!
Step 5: Rest and chill. You won't get banned for stating your opinion. You also won't be looked down upon for defending a friend that deserved defending. Provided you actually were accurate and not just circle-jerking.

6) Never mention the name of the person you're talking about by name, ensuring that most of your audience is lost

I've got a question: what if a mod breaks a user's privacy and reveals the user's email address on a public blog post containing emails that had nothing to do with the site and were intended for a group of people, and not him in particular?
Or in short, what if a mod reveals your personal information on a public forum?
Because I'm speaking from experience. I don't know if this is the same mod, but I'd love to know what I do when a mod makes a completely inappropriate move like that.

But yeah having your facts straight even if you're just ranting/venting is pretty important unless you want to risk shooting yourself in the foot and getting 100 thumbs down, and multiple people making rant blogs about your rant and getting a warning from the moderators, you get the idea.
Trying to correct yourself AFTER the rant won't help you either.

1101143 Oh, it happened on this site. In fact, it spanned across two major pony sites, of which the person is question is a mod of both. He brought up personal emails I had sent to one pony site on another pony site's public forum, revealing my email address and leaving me open for attack as he was publicly shaming me after a small argument we were having. That's not just cruel, that's illegal.
That anon mod sounds like a real asshole. He was so not providing constructive criticism and trying to defuse the situation.

1101257 Oh, well it was. Sorry if I misled you. But yeah, I had a falling out with EQD that I've long since put behind me. I saw a blog about them and voiced my opinion. The mod in question challenged me, and I was unfamiliar with a certain word he said. So he published every email I sent to them on the public forum, along with my email address.
You can see why I dislike them even further. Although if you're on there, it can't be all bad.
