The mane six, Spike, Aita, and the changeling rulers are summoned at the announcement of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna's retirement, Chrysalis responding with her own. Even Starlight will be moving in with Sunburst all the while. This news ends up getting to Aita unlike anything before. Meanwhile, Discord makes a low-effort attempt to bring past foes together with the choice of teaming up or venturing alone.

Shortly after the Grand Galloping Gala, Aita is on his way home from the CMC clubhouse when Lightning Dust engages in a conversation with him. Unfortunately, after Aita tells his friends, Lightning Dust gets a U-Fly letter about a rental chariot that not only postpones her welcome party, but, once found out, also ends up getting Discord framed. To get everything figured out, Aita will have to put his deductive skills to the test with the help of Fluttershy and Lightning Dust.

Chrysalis is being interviewed in Canterlot, Carve mostly there to help with practice, but that gets cut short after Pharynx recreates a spell scroll. Naturally, they track him down until they arrive at the throne, where they find out he cast a spell to go and save his brother. Unfortunately, Carve and Chrysalis get sucked in too. How will they stop Pharynx on their own?
