Hi. I'm a new assembly programmer. I like to write from time to time.

Sequels1

E

This story is a sequel to To Tame a Substitute Queen

When Scootaloo uses a slingshot to go to Cloudsdale, Aita teleports to the landing spot only to discover the presence of Rainbow Dash's parents, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles. Initially they seem like a whale of a time, but as the house tour goes on things get a little creepy for Aita. After the visit though, instead of homework, Aita has a friendship mission to solve between Rainbow Dash's parents and the Wonderbolts.

Truthfully I never liked the idea. It is a mean idea to keep reminding someone of their mistakes. The fact is everyone makes them even if we try to avoid them. I don't think they really like it they just went along with it because they were told this is okay. It isn't okay to do that anywhere just for one mistake. If they keep doing it then give them a hard time. Spitfire isn't a good leader because she wasn't watching the recruits and just gave the assignment didn't bother to make sure everyone was doing it safely because there is always someone who tries a shortcut or tries to make others do the work. Plus instead inquiring why rainbow was acting strange when she got her nickname she waited until rainbow was ready to quit because rainbow couldn't take it anymore.

I totally get it. When the second half of this story was being developed, I ended up looking back at an old video someone made - I can't believe that was six years ago already, where does the time go? - Anyway, Newbie Dash tries to parallel an aerobatic sports team with the actual military, when it should've been considering the kids in school who are going through the exact same thing that was depicted in that episode.

Long story short, Newbie Dash fails on two levels, it fails on trying to teach kids about resilience and instead tells them to be complacent to bullies, and it also fails in accuracy because even if it isn't enforced, this epidemic isn't even permitted one bit in real life military groups.

Now, as for Parental Glideance, it's pretty obvious why this fails and why I wanted to fix it, given the opportunity. Bow and Windy get pretty creepy when it comes to their daughter, and the end of the episode just pulls Rainbow Dash in on their antics instead of letting her correct her parents' behavior. So, looking closer at this episode - at least the more tolerable parts - I found some real potential in them if they were just written the right way. Tone down their creepiness about Rainbow Dash, play up their more rational side, and use them to fix Newbie Dash.

This probably one of the easiest works i've gotten through in a long time. Open Arms all the way up to Displacement Shock had some pretty hard moments to keep a straight face, though not necessarily write, and To Tame a Substitute Queen had several days between chapters due to writers' block.

Yeah rainbow parents had gone stalker fan level with their love. Who keeps one of their kid's baby diapers? Talk about creepy. Every parent we got introduced to was crazy in some way.

Another nice fix that happened in this story was improving Scootaloo's report itself; truncating the amount of pictures and replacing the sandwich with a picture of that would surely give Scootaloo a better grade.

Yeah scootaloo was headed that way but you took that out. If you ever do the washout episode knock some sense into that girl. Cause I don't often want wring a character neck but rainbow kept trying to tell that she was going to end up in the hospital or graveyard if she didn't quit and she was lucky that rainbow saved her that episode.

I never watched The Washouts, and probably never will. That same someone I referenced made it clear that episode was twice as bad as PG and ND could ever be. Buuut one episode that doesn't involve the school I'll get to fix is The Parent Map, which I guess would just be The Parent with what I plan. That will also be my first time ever writing for Sunburst.

That episode was badly written indeed. Almost as bad as the wedding ending

Quick update: Because of a hint from Displacement Shock, I actually have a free spot for this series. Originally it would've been taken up by an alternate take of Fame and Misfortune, but that would either lead to a major continuity error or Aita losing all the development he's been given.

I think I know what to replace it with: Carina finally visiting Aita's dreams.

Anything less than RD's deadbeat parents and the Wonderbutts getting arrested for their crimes is an injustice.

This is an alternate take that corrected both behaviors before they got out of control, which was one out of a dozen or so potential messages you could find in this work, one of them I can clearly see you missed. It's called a fix fic, not a hate fic.

EDIT: I read over the story again, and counted the amount of messages. I was SPOT ON: literally a dozen.

RD is too old to be embarrassed by her parents. It should use Scootaloo for that.

All emotions are universal; an elder or a grown adult can be embarrassed just as much as a child could. Obviously the criteria are different between age groups, but the point still stands.
