This story is a sequel to Moving On

One day at work, Rainbow Strike requests an audience with Pinkie Pie to tell her something, and the response he gets is far more than he expected from the mare he did ill to.

For no reason whatsoever, Rainbow Dash flies up to Sweet Apple Acres to request a hug from her dear friend, Applejack. Surely, it can't be too much to ask, can it?

My goal: to have this written down in 1000 words or just above! Let's see if I can do it!

Written purely out of nowhere, and it's also so bad that it's laughable!

Written as an alternative take on the Season 4 Finale, the reason being we never saw the Crusaders' in the episode.

Following the events after Tirek's defeat against Princess Twilight and her friends, a headcount of all ponies local to Ponyville have been taken, yet there were three missing from those numbers: The Cutie Mark Crusaders.

With the note of this information, the Mane Six fan out to form a search party for the young girls, hopefully with a positive outcome on their whereabouts. For Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash, the news hits a whole new tone of worry for their sisters.

Alone and in tears in a desolate orchard, Apple Bloom is struggling to come to terms with the apparent rejection of her crush, yet is all as it seems, or is this all just a huge misunderstanding?

The world is mean and bleak. All that remains is acres upon acres of scorched earth with unimaginable levels of insanity strewn across it. The world is dead, deader than dead. What was harmony is now disharmony, nothing but a pure void of living Tartarus.

A soul that reflects on what the Equestrian nation used to be has one last and final thought of the downfall of civilised society. Where he stood when there was no disaster looming over the governmental powers of Equestria.

There is some blood in this, but only used lightly, so if you are uncomfortable with visualising blood, reader discretion is advised!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This story isn't intended to be a Fallout: Equestria-related piece of fanfiction, but quite the opposite. It is a piece of work I wanted to try out as a test of how I build a gloomy, sympathetic and empathetic atmosphere in the setting of an apocalypse. Nothing more, nothing less.

When you lose someone or something you love, your whole world will seem black, but the largest hurdle to jump is the time when you have to say goodbye. When a very dear and close friend departs, this is just the very thing that a unicorn filly has difficulties with saying.

Fluttershy once had a friend. An imaginary friend that kept her company, way before she knew her now best friend, Rainbow Dash, and even after. Said friend resides in a small, wooden pine box, a gift given to Fluttershy by her parents on her birthday, acclaimed to be a hoof-down that was left to her via a will.

The friend still visits her, but not very frequently. She has told nopony, nor does she plan to. Not even her closest friends know. One day, she has a conversation with this friend, and it is certainly not a conversation that she will forget any time soon.

This is that conversation.

Your name is Apple Blossom, or Apple Bloom for short. You live on Sweet Apple Acres, the farm on the edge of your home town of Ponyville. Today is Presentation Day, and your turn has come up to give your life story to the class at the start of the new school year. This is that story.

Life has done nothing but gotten me down. It has only shown me pain and ridicule ever since the death of my parents, and even more so now that I've let everypony, including myself, down.

There's no reason to carry on living on this living Tartarus of a planet anymore, and so I think I'll end it here. Nice, quick and clean. I can finally say goodbye to my dreams and ambitions and fall to the consuming dark.
