Something In The Air

Chapter 1

Upon a pleasant day of spring
When birds were heard to chirp and sing
Ponyville's tailor Rarity
Was having friends over for tea

Sitting outside the Carousel Boutique
Around a fine table oblique
Enjoying drinks, snacks and little cakes
And light conversation to make.

When suddenly there was a noise
One which interrupted their poise
It was small, tiny and weak
Yet it was an unmistakable squeak

Five stared with shock and fascination
Ponies looking in the direction
Without any subtlety
Directly at miss Rarity

"I can not believe what I see,
Do you all mean to accuse me?"
With a voice annoyed and tart
"I most certainly did not just... toot."

From both Pinkie and Rainbow Dash
Came a peel of giggles and laugh
So infectious was their mirth
Grins on the others they gave birth

Except on an indignant Rarity
Upset they doubted her honesty
Dash dismissively waved a hoof
“Every now and then we all let out a poof”

Rarity sputtered and gave a start
To each her eyes did dart
Then she said from her heart
“I most certainly did not just… toot”

It was difficult to stay demure
As a smell like rancid manure
Which had slowly crept and rose
Drifted up to Rarity's nose

Rarity's snout began to itch
And an eye started to twitch
Dash laughed with satisfaction
Then herself felt the same reaction

The scent had drifted across the table
Every pony gagged with each exhale
How had a smell so vile and horrible
Come from a pony usually adorable?

Too late for the day to restart
Rarity watched from eyes that smart
As her friends started to depart
"It wasn't me! I did not just toot!"

But what everpony could not see
From the window behind Rarity
Was the originating source
Of sound and odor worth remorse

Had earlier ate something yummy
That did not agree with her tummy
Fainted from her own scent
Laid an unconscious Opalescence
