A long war between the humans of Iceland and the centaur of Equestria is finally at an end.
The Queen Mary and the Great Horselords of Equestria have find amiable terms to put a dispute older than their great great grandfathers finally to rest as they join at the Lord's Pass on their way to Canterlot.
However, not all support the new found peace and would try to stop it from blossoming by nipping it at the bud. Stranger things yet stir in the Everfree Forest and ominous events begin to proceed one another that put everyone on edge.
Harmony: an ideal as old as time itself.
Will it be restored and banish the coming darkness that threatens the infant hope?

The world, the naming, Celestia, Luna, Discord, the theme of Friendship, and the elements of harmony.
That's all gonna be in there and those are pretty core to FiM.
Sorry if you expected ponies and cartoony stuff happening. It's an AU fic, after all, and also noted as dark as I plan to make it less than perfectly happy.
There are some characters I plan to have M/M pairing briefly and one of them a bit more full on.
Don't expect any naughty scenes though, at least not in detail. Unless I get wicked in the mood to write a smut scene ^_^
Which means I'll have to add a warning...
And they're not gonna happen all "BAM! in yo' face!". It's gonna be gradual or unexpected.

Well, this is certainly an interesting and fresh idea. How did you come up with this story?

It started out something akin to the Nightrunners by Lynn Flewling.
I wanted a magical world with lots of excitement and beauty just as you'd find in a high fantasy novel but it began feeling too much like a convenient adventure instead of something with deeper character development. So, I expanded the adventure by thinking of things like Harry Potter (Minus the whole magical school bit). I wanted it to be familiar to the characters but still something beyond their ken and bigger than they are so I thought about all the interlacing character and side stories that A Song of Ice and Fire is developing and thought how neat it would be for me to try and create so many different characters and explore them individually.
I find this really good practice for trying out new things and ways to write. I'm having a blast.
Little by little, it morphed as I added new characters and tried to incorporate as much of the lore and unique aspects of MLP into it while trying to move myself away from all the kiddie stuff and trying to make it into something an older reader could relate to more.
So, as I made the characters up, I decided on their element of Harmony and what troubles they could have related to it and then thought of the bad guys and how they profit from the lack of harmony in a war torn land and how it all comes together and how each character is naturally part of the conflict before it even really begins or they realize there is a problem.
I wanted a story that's moved by the characters instead of magic or plot twists as to help the characters grow and change without everyone already knowing one another or them all being in one place at all times. It's a journey for each individual.
The main goal is to have each reader be able to immerse themselves in the detail and background of the world and characters as well as them being able to make out the characters instead of me telling the reader what each character is like.

Maybe I'm catching on a little late, but this is a version of Equestria in which everypony is a centaur right? I thought that there were both centaurs and regular ponies. This is good too.

It feels like your attempt to make this 'more adult' is really just alienating anyone who's expecting a 'serious' MLP fic. It reads like something in-between a young adult's novel and an installment in a 70 book series about a world that is never built in its entirety within the span of one story. And all these problems are systemic. Not liking it all that much, dude.

By serious, do you mean more MLP oriented or do you mean that my story just seems all over the place or something?
I do realize that I am lacking in detail on some character descriptions and at times I find myself wondering how can I fit some lore/backstory into a scene without making it feel forced or out of the place.

I mean... well, you can be serious while also being MLP oriented. This story doesn't look or feel like an MLP fanfic. The few references to the source material barely go beyond name-drops. Celestia/Luna could go by any other name and have as much relation to FiM as they do now. Honestly, this story would make sense as an MLP fic if you made the lore have more references to MLP than just names.
It feels... like a word-replaced original fiction novel. And that's not bad, the original fiction part, but this is a site for pony fics. Unless something changes dramatically in the next couple of chapters, I would argue that this fic doesn't actually belong FiMFiction. Not for a lack of quality, the quality... it's decent. Certainly in need of some editing but it can be understood.
Similarly, this fic's inclusion on the M/M Shipping group is subject to the same issues. The rules state that, essentially, you can't add a story that doesn't have M/M relations at the forefront, or at least as an element in the main character's repertoire.You're juggling a number of character and they are, as far as I can tell, predominantly not homosexual (or in homosexual relationships). This would be excusable, personally, were it not the reason I began reading this fic in the first place(and admittedly the reason I've continued to do so...).

It really wouldn't be the same for me, personally, if I removed the MLPness that I see in the story. Perhaps that'll come more out in full later on but I don't know if it's just me. I see what I see I guess. Maybe it'll be more blatant when Discord and Luna get more heavy coverage. Right now, it's mostly introductions and setting up the main problem with the humans.
And yes, I'd love to edit some things and add scenes here and there. I feel like it's a tad cut and dry.

The M/M is coming but it'll be spread out and thin at first. There's gonna be two/three couples depending on how you like to count it and it'll be the main characters so it won't last for just a scene or something ^_^
