And we're back. As promised, Wave is barely in this chapter at all and that probably won't change. That's okay because we knew that from the end of the previous story.

Oh, I'm so glad to see a new story from you!

But at least she sent me the link to the espionage training, which covered physical sneaking and electronic infiltration (and a bunch of other stuff that I wasn’t as interested in). Apparently it was actually a thing.

As I mentioned in the previous story, kobold military doctrine leans heavily on skullduggery. It's completely unsurprising that they'd have dedicated spies.

I hadn’t ever tried it before because it *didn’t* improve the graphics, instead (I found out now) opting for a more realistic physics system and fully destructible terrain.

Even in the far future, this trade-off apparently still exists and there's apparently still a dumb prejudice against the Dwarf Fortresses of the world who make the obviously correct choice of priorities. :facehoof: (Yes, I'm well aware that this was supposed to be Minecraft. It's Dwarf Fortress that goes into ridiculous levels of simulation and then uses literal ASCII for graphics, though)

There's also Summoning Ocellus - Fimfiction if you haven't read it yet.

Okay, now she was just showing off. Subjunctive case? Really?

Ma'am, we speak English here. (Obligatory link to how our shared language is complete bull:yay:)

why the ring of mushrooms? Did they mean something?

For those playing at home, these sorts of rings were indeed believed to bring you to the lands of the fae. Fairy is clearly mandating knowledge of her namesake.

“Aww, come on. You heard the stories, right? About how it made Wave the most deadly fighter in the city with no training?”

There was plenty of training, it was just training in the use of a warp crystal instead of the regular kind. Remember, she was the "Mage" of the original trio and while that doesn't always involve casting Fireball it also doesn't never involve casting Fireball.

this wasn’t as dramatic as it had seemed in my head

Chuuni are only funny when reality disagrees with them. :rainbowlaugh:

“Star would never trust me to do the smart thing in any situation,” I snapped. “That’s why I’m locked in in the first place.”

If it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid.

we’d heard the stories about Ash

For those who've forgotten the original story, not even the classic descending ceiling trap worked on him because dragons are literally Built Different ™. :moustache:

I sighed, but this is what I’d signed up for when I refused to just be normal.

The curse of protagonism. There's a reason I list myself as Page of Void.

“The limit’s the same as for anyone else,” Fire said. “How much they trained. I haven’t been too impressed with the unicorns I’ve seen so far.”

"But I have heard things. If their name is two kinds of light, run."

(I wrote that before I went onwards with the chapter, and I was absolutely thinking "with Raven's luck, Starlight Glimmer is there" while writing it. :derpytongue2:)

Yay. Totally worth being infested. Again.

But on the other hand, the last thing I ever wanted was to be normal.

Yeah, that cutie mark showing up on a non-pony species is something I've only seen in one other place and it was justified by the fact that her father was a pony. That's a big red flag saying "the kobolds are right" to me.

Thanks for writingbthis new story.
I remember liking the prequel, but I dont remember too much else sadly.

I like the story so far.
Good work!
Thanks forvwriting it!
