Was half expecting this to be a Cupcakes parody/troll fic, but it ended up being an interesting friendship lesson on being yourself. This reminds me of Suited for Success in a way. In your story Rainbow Dash listens to her friends' advice, thinking it'll make the perfect cupcake, but in the end Rainbow Dash just being herself is what impresses Pinkie Pie the most.
Bucking apples is physically impossible in the real world, so it makes me wonder if either Equestrian apple trees are different, or the ability to buck apples is part of earth pony magic.
