A period of prosperity began, spanning over four decades, as Equestria grew to become one of the worlds most powerful countries. An experiment to produce more magical energy to fuel the surge in magic technology resulted in portals forming, ripping countless creatures from their native worlds and trapping them in Equestria. The Queens would open their arms however and accept any creature which was pulled through to their world and in turn, this led to technology advancing faster than it would naturally, these beings from other worlds bringing with them new ideas and knowledge. However these beings would also stoke the anger held beneath the surface. In time, the change these beings brought would lead to riots against them and the Queens. The diarchy held their ground, hoping to stop the violent protests against their new citizens and spread the law of equality between all creatures.

Equestria's internal issues persisted for many years till finally the kingdom became fractured. Dividing into bickering City states, Confederacies and alliances, Equestria has begun fighting a civil war. This has become yet more complicated as neighbouring Abysinnia and the Griffin Lands hope to either prosper from the war or remove Equestria completely, after living in its shadow for decades. In only two years, hundreds of thousands have died. Though the heart of the conflict still remains near solely within Equestria's borders, it seems to expand, its impacts being felt across the world and forcing even distant countries to make a decision on what role they will play in the war.

Racism/Xenophobia/Prejudice from the ponies at the worst, and causing a huge civil war!!! Wow, just wow! :ajbemused:


I'm surprised that neither Nightmare Moon, Queen Chrysalis, or even the human inventors that likes to get their hands dirty. Didn't just stop the stupid protesters with their aggressive tactics? I mean, Nightmare Moon is WAY MORE bloodthirsty, and battle worthy than her pacifist sister. And it's obvious Chrysalis wouldn't take these morons BS.

Yeah, there were definitely a lot of stricter police measures to quell the riots but that only crushed the opposition down until their emotions boiled over. I've definitely imagined Nightmare Moon has tried to be a true ruler, taking inspiration from the season 5 finale where we see the world under Nightmare Moon's rule. It's pretty stable and orderly. I mean out of almost all the villains, she is probably the only one who actually wants to be in control and have a stable country, rather than destroy everything :D. Chrysalis is definitely wanting to annihilate the enemy but is probably being held back somewhat ;)

Next chapter should be up soon, just editing it at the moment. The rough plan is to do a '2 chapters with the main characters' then '1 somewhere else in the war' to show the effects it has on everyone :)

Although the rebels have the advantage of numbers, Queen Nightmare Moon and Queen Chrysalis definitely have the advantage of technology and a diverse range of soldiers who can bring all manner of tactics to the field and their economy. Kind of an 'unstoppable force and immovable object' scenario going on :D

Yeah, I wanted to try and make it realistic from the books I've been reading on WW1 trench warfare, the daily life within the trenches and all the background jobs you need to perform when you are not fighting. :)
