It is going to continue. I'm just plastered with work and with the whole Corona virus my hours at work have increased, so I've been too tired to write. Though I plan on updating my first story soon then working on the next chapter. I already have a plan in motion for how the chapter will go. Also stsrswirl didn't flip the bird on the humans. He only knew that the human dimension was magicless. Thus magical artifacts are useless without the power to work, ie magic.

The Mirror is linked with magic and the Element of Magic is an object outside of regular magic. It doesn't follow the rules because the rules dont apply to something that powerful. The Element of Harmony at least my head canon, on the movie, is that the Element was able to access the magic from Equestria and thus in doing so created a foundation on which it can use its power. This foundation allowed other artifacts to work as well like the memory stone. A counterpoint would be the Sirens as they use magic before the blast in the first movie. But the way I see it the Sirens seem to have had energy/magic stored up and they needed to use it to cause enough to use their powers while also gaining magic and also sustaining enough to keep them alive. That's why Aria complains about fast food. The Element of Magic building its foundation caused them more access to magic and thus why they were able to affect the whole school with their suggestions in Rainbow Rocks.
If you read closely you'll see how Sunset will be able to use magic.

That's my head canon for why items that no one knew about suddenly started to act up and why the sirens became so powerful so quickly. Also yes but I wont explain too much.

I was getting a bit of a Korosensei and Elfen Lied vibe in this chapter when Sunset escaped.
I've only seen bits and pieces of those shows. I drew more inspiration from Hellsing Ultimate when Seras goes on a rampage.

Yes and no, Sunset is a beacon of power, magic, and thus creating magic and its slowly spreading into the world. Think of it like a bowl with food coloring small drops are slowly coloring it red or blue. She got her power when the electricity mixed with the portal. Essentially Sunset has magic but it was locked away when she went through the portal. The portal is comprised of magic and thus has not limited by the dimensional rules. When Sunset was electrocuted her magic rises to defend her but it was stuck in her. However when she interacted with the portal that caused the portals energy to be look for a suitable place to contain its power as it became unstable. That is why it broke in Equestria with Celestia. As one of the rules throughout the multiverse is that entry cant be created or destroyed, thus Sunset became like a sponge and now has both her magic and the energy of the portal. It one of the reasons she's able to use her magic. Shes unknowingly changing the rules for the dimension to allow her to use her power, the portal is just allowing her to use more of it and at a new intensity than she could in Equestria.
The others magic is seen as mutations allowing them to use powers based in science. Essentially they're espers.

Aurora Borealis is the northern lights. Which are caused by solar flares impacting the magnetic field around the earth. So Sunset essentially calls upon the sun and her own power enough to effect the earth's magnetic fields.

Well one is the demon we all love and hate and the other is the one that made Sunset remember her time in Equestria at Canterlot Castle with Celestia. In other words one is the demon and the other is a younger more happy Sunset.

Yep. Think of her as a bottle inside of a bottle. The first bottle has an infinite amount of water. When Sunset uses her magic the water is released into the second larger bottle. But it can only hold so much water before it explodes.

In my fic magic must be calculated so if she is distracted with something else or if she is not mentally stable than she will waste magic and not be as effective as she could be. She will also be prone PTSD hallucinations.

I might have explained that poorly. Magic for me is like how you state it, however I like to think of it like dirt in that its everywhere but without a catalyst it's just dirt it needs water, i.e. the Elements of Harmony, the potential for magic was always there but it was too scattered and shapeless. When the Element of Magic was brought over it solidified the magic potential making artifacts and banished magical creatures more powerful which is why they dont appear before the first movie. However with the explosion of the portal magic was amplified but remains shapeless which will be explored later in the book.
