I like that the simulators make you think its real life as to make the users take it more seriously.
I'm not sure you had a win condition mentioned. If you won the battle; would it just make you think time had passed, and keep on generating new battles until you get got, or would it turn off after the first win?
Did Gerhardt just created a RPG simulator? I can only imagine what would happen in the next O&O convention.

It would turn off after you won, just like if you get killed or somehow manage to realize that it's a simulation. You would then have to select another location or the same location again if you wanted to continue.
Hm, seems like an interesting story. I'll put this one in my Read Later for now.

Well, didn't VR start as air force training in real life? To me it only makes sense that this is the jumping off point.
As always a good chapter and a thought I had today was how would Gerhardt react to tamrielic magic, the aedra and daedra, the sentient nigh immortal dragons and well everything to do with the world of the elder scrolls I would have to say that the daedric princes would be as powerful as your worlds elder gods maybe more so as one of them appearing on nirn in their true form would destroy the planet if they weren’t sent back in time

Hm... Debatable. Even Mid Gods can destroy entire solar systems, galaxies, or possibly even Superclusters for the most powerful of them. The Greater Gods can create and destroy entire universes at will. I would put the Greater Gods more on the level of Anu and Padomay, the beings who created Anui-el and Sithis, if we’re comparing to Elder Scrolls. The daedric princes are powerful but I believe that they would be more on the level of the upper Mid Gods.
As for everything else: Gerhardt would be confused by their magic, the aedra and daedra would be unsurprising considering he comes from a universe with gods that frequently interact with the mortal realm though he would absolutely HATE Sheogorath and would be absolutely terrified of Hermaeus Mora, he would be intrigued by the dragons and would likely study them extensively, he would have a very keen interest in all the other realms in Elder Scrolls, the politics would bore and annoy him, and the primitive technology would frustrate him.
His time there would most likely be spent in almost total isolation for the most part as he conducted his research and experimentation in his lab. Honestly it would make for a rather boring story all things considered, since not much would happen. He wouldn’t really do much to draw attention to himself.
Very Interesting concept to think about though!

Honestly I think the fact that souls are used for enchantments would upset him quite a bit also a few of the daedra would probably help him against his enemies Merida in particular would probably try to wipe the ghouls from the face of the planet and then go after their gods because she detests undead creatures and I would say that at some point a fates adventurer would pull him from his lab and they would just not leave until he helps also all life produces magika which is what they use for spells honestly though shouts would be my favourite thing for him to try to find the workings of as the only people that could even slightly replicate it were the dwemer with their tonal Resonators
You know if you were to do say Gerhardt in Skyrim each chapter could be him ending up having to personally help different adventures one way or another because golems wouldn’t be enough and things beyond mere wards stop him from making exploration trivial
Welp, looks like I ran out of fic. Good read so far, will definitely keep an eye out for more!
