I like what you're doing with the Mechanica Mk. 2. I anticipated there being an "issue" with the whole affair. I think you did a good job of conveying Fun Fact #2 in the chapter itself. Right now, I'm most curious in if those twelve days was/is him just working on the frontal lobe replacement or if Gerhardt has already moved on to the construction of other fun toys.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far and that I've done well portraying Mechanica Mk. 2. I was actually a bit worried that I might have gone a little overboard with him.
As for what the original Gerhardt has been doing for the past twelve days... You'll just have to find out in the next chapter. 😊

I mean, if I'm being honest, I personally would have probably written the Mk. 2 scene a little differently. Without the inside information that you, the author and creator, hold and without devoting more time and thought into it, I couldn't give many specifics. Though in a nutshell I think I would have added a little bit more scene time and I might have dialed down the overt rage just a bit. I'm mostly spit-balling though because I think it turned out perfectly fine. It did what it needed to and wasn't completely overdone, which could easily happen with a scene like that.

Well, I disagree with " dialed down " part.
He knows "he" was disposed of. Aaand this leads to the clusterfuck of a management and incompetence in his field.
So he learned that "he" was as good as dead, his colleagues incompetent and this all was sprinkled with a gargantuan loss of lives. So he has his right to be furious.

Also question - is MK2 fully mechanical? Considering MK1 is is the process of replacing his frontal lobe.
Because if you already breaking the laws by resurrecting him, why not go all the way? No organic inferiorities to complete his better soul.

Yes Mechanica Mk. 2 is fully mechanical. As you suggested why would they bother building him with anything other than fully mechanical parts when they are objectively superior to organic parts? It's only logical.

Like I said, I might have. And when I say dialed down, I mean just the overtness of the interactions and just a little bit. I understand the difference in context of Mk. 2's and Gerhardt's circumstances. The anger and motivation that causes Mk. 2 to be the way he is right now is common in both him and Gerhardt. I think Phantomdust did a solid job of making the situation and the why of it all clear. I admit that the critique is probably just me though. As I said though, I still think the scene is good.
Chrysalis messed up, her ignorance and arrogance will be the end of her.
I'm not sure this makes sense. The story has repeatedly made it extremely clear that souls are objectively factual and that they survive beyond the body. Gerhardt has many times used soul magic, and Pixel was created using it. "Death" isn't really possible, it's just the body that wears out, and even that's not much of an inconvenience when they can simply make new ones or casually replace parts.
Even the fundamental chapter one premise of this story involves Gerhardt creating seance devices to allow people to speak to the dead. So what's the problem? Death is completely avoidable, and even if somebody's body dies, you can still talk to them. Nobody's ever really gone.

Yes, souls exist and thus the afterlife exists. However I've also made it abundantly clear that Gerhardt is extremely reluctant to use necromancy unless he has no other choice. So he wouldn’t be making those seance devices, he wouldn't be bringing people back from the dead, he wouldn't be manipulating souls, and he wouldn't even be willing to give very many people augmentations to make them immortal. So for all intents and purposes death is the end.
Yes it can be avoided with the use of necromancy. However, have you seen Gerhardt building and selling those seance devices in order to speak to the dead at any point in this story? No. So what makes you think he would be willing to do anything beyond that? He wouldn't because he's too paranoid about necromancy being reverse engineered and then spreading amongst Equestria. I thought that I had already made that fact abundantly clear already.
So anyreason that you want to get rid of Chrysalis?I am just suprised cause u set up Chrysalis to be neutral.

I'm not getting rid of her. I'm having Gerhardt prepare for war in case she tries to screw with him by going after Pixel. If she doesn't do that then Gerhardt will just have an army and powerful weapons sitting on stand by and he will just leave the Changelings alone. He doesn't intend to do anything to them unless they intend to attack him and his daughter first.

Please tell me that you're going to do Equestria Girls.

No. Sorry. I've only ever watched a few minutes of the very first episode. I don’t know nearly enough about it to actually write a story about it or add it to this one. So for all intents and purposes nothing from Equestria Girls exists in this story. Not the mirror and not Sunset Shimmer.

Shame, it would be super interesting to see how he's react to the alternate humans
Kind of anti climatic. I assume it also failed and she gave up. He didn't really change and the ponies kind of shrugged it off. I was hoping for more of a reaction. I mean you would think Celestia would have checked on his progress or there being a true final lesson to summarize all he learned, where he metaphorically gives a middle finger and show he didn't changed and they failed. Oh well. I will take what I can get and am glad he didn't go a complete 180 like some other stories does. Though I would have liked more in depth lessons from the others and him foiling it in different ways, since I liked Pinkie failing and him teaching Applejack a thing about honesty from a different perspective about it.

That's not the end of the friendship lessons. Those last all the way to the most recent chapters, they just fall into the background a bit since they would get a bit repetitive.
