Aw.
Which God does Twilight Get?
10240427
Either way, you'll need to find some new coverart.
If you're going to follow through with the change, then the current one is misleading.
10240504
We have new coverart in the works.
10240513
And vote is still for Shadow Canid.
10240522
Cool.
Well at least one character went off on a good note BB. ^.^
10240558
Huh? What now?
As much as I would love to see a dryad Lorraine, my vote will have to be Shadow Pup.
I dunno about Lorraine being Shadow given the more detailed descriptions, given sneaky variable its more Johns thing, silent bodyguard?
Definitely sticking with FaunDoe for Lorraine. Especially Chocolate FaunDoe Fountain.
Yay for insufferable asshole gods.
10240719
At what point were they insufferable assholes? If anyone was being an asshole, it was Luna.
Was that a reference I saw in there? Do you by chance have a headless suit of armor hiding somewhere in the back.
10240727
Thanks to the Nightmare Luna was tortured for 1000 years, and she comes back, mocks her, and dismisses her concerns. Then punishes her for not falling on the ground and worshipping her abuser.
10240729
Depends on the reference. Which reference were you referring to? I'm pretty sure we don't have plans for a Dullahan.
10240733
For context, Luna disrupted the Balance by making it Eternal Night, and abusing the powers of her station granted to her by The Nightmare. The Nightmare possessed her to put everything back to normal, then allowed her to be banished as punishment for said abuses.
Also Luna's pushing of Lorraine to "embrace her destiny" is only making Lorraine worse, not better.
10240734
There is another author, wrote the Headless but Not Heartless stories. One of his big things was "jolly cooperation", his main character was a Dullahan and was curious if that was where you got it from.
10240749
A) He's my co-author for many of my other fics.
B) Jolly Cooperation is a Dark Souls reference.
As much as I like the Faun option I’m going to vote Shadow Canid because if Lorraine was a Faun you can almost guarantee some asshole would sell her on the black market out of spite.
Great chapter and I'm voting for shadow doggo.
I've enjoyed the story so far and I'm not sure if I would be able to pick between shadow dog or faun. Probably faun for similar reasons listed in last chapter(ELORA FOREVER!!!)
That said, in my honest opinion, I don't think a species change would be a good idea. For a couple of reasons actually.
One-it makes no sense in world. Not for protection, she would just need to work with Celestia in private for a while and her luck magic could probably do all she needed. Not for avoiding the bad attention. The whole reason ponies are on her case is because they're a mixed couple and she's not 'keeping her stallion in his place.' That won't change with her species. To make a difference? You established she's basically the dragon version of Celestia. After working with the others to deal with her anxiety she could easily employ dragons to add a bit of political pressure on extremist groups with Celestia's help. Basically, you're just making her take a change that will leave her taking the same dangerous attention but less ability to protect herself or make a difference.
Second-You ever heard of the Watsonian vs Doylist argument? Interpreting in world vs author changes? While making an author based decision isn't necessarily bad (bringing awareness to social issues, etc) It's best to avoid changes that make it obvious that that was main issue (Like caving to fans, changing themes partway, etc) as it brings people out of the story and disrupts the narrative. At this point in the story, it would probably be best just to give Lorraine a quiet moment to reflect, maybe talk things out with one of the older/wiser characters and just find a way to make peace, steel herself, and make a plan going forward with what she has. At least in attempt before doing something drastic.
That said, this is your fic so you obviously make final say in it. Just putting in my two cents and what I see here. Don't mean to sound preachy.

Ponies are generally xenophobic to begin with, this change is more for Lorraine than anything else, especially since she's incompatible with her magic. (She hurt herself just trying to deal.) She doesn't want any kind of power, or anything to do with destiny. She just wants everyone to stop harassing her and her friends. (As mentioned in the chapter)
To be perfectly honest, we've had the change planned for awhile now, we just weren't sure what she'd change into. Hell, we had this chapter in the pipeline for next week. However because of the initial response to the previous chapter, we posted it today.
The next chapter is going to be much lighter than this one.
Honestly, I hate this turn of events. It seems to me they're just saying that because they only see a Luck Dragon they should turn her into something else exotic to change nothing about the situation or just make it worse. So if you're going to get rid of Lorraine to fit in, why not do it to John as well so you can both just abandon yourselves to fit in as a the ponies they say you shoukd be. Go out and assault a few stallions to make a herd whike you're at it.
My vote goes for dryad doe, I like them better.
Goddamn Lorraine's innocent as fuck. Yes, every single person's seen by what they are, by strangers, always. You can try and change how that "what" is perceived, but those that are not your friends simply don't care - and why would they? It's quite impossible to see the "who" if you don't personally know them, and it's quite impossible to do that.
She'll change, have hope things will get better... And then just go back to be treated worse - for she'll not be royalty, legendary or mighty - and have less power to do anything about it, specially her stallion rights fight. Girl really needs a reality check.
On that matter, she's perfectly within her right to deny a greater power for lack of hability or suitability for it. But with her denial comes also the acceptance that every single time she complains about a lack of power to do anything for the rest of her life she'll be a huge hypocrite. She had power, much more than she seemed to realize (at least according to what we saw the princess talking about), but will have chosen to forgo it.
It is though an excellent opportunity for character growth when that comes to bite her back and she recognizes that changing what she is will not make anyone see who she is, only her attitude can make a dent on that. She has to act as she wants others to see her, and on that becoming other that's still different won't change a thing in the end.
That can certainly help her grow as a person, if she doesn't retract more from falling in her main objective that is.
All in all the story has come a long way since the beginning, kudos for that!

Did you miss the point where Lorraine said she just wants the harassment to stop, that that she's not comfortable being a luck dragon?
She wants change for her own peace of mind. Or are you suggesting we don't change her and cave in to everyone else saying the same thing? We have highlighted the motivation behind the change as Lorraine's desire to, put it simply, escape from the stress. Hey have read our previous responses?
So, what's your vote? Shadow doggo or flower doe?
10240934
She's innocent, but not stupid. She's tried and failed to get through to the townsfolk. The change is for her peace of mind. At this point she's just tired.
reading both of their descriptions now ill change my vor from shadow cannid to the nature deer, it seems more fun in the long run
10240943
Fair enough, I hope she doesn't get disilluded when ponies don't change much.
I do bet she'll be cute as a button as whatever she becomes.
10240939
Its not the transforming into something not a luck dragon I have a problem with, if you were planning to have her become something else thats fine. The problem is her transforming like this is just stupid. The ponies don't like her because of her beliefs and not being a pony, and Lorraine hates being a luck dragon because they don't love her. This combines to being fucking stupid, turning into some other non-pony that will be hated all the same and still having her same views, solving nothing because they'll all still hate her so she'll hate herself and she sacrificed a part of herself for nothing. The only way she'd be loved and accepted is changing WHO she is and becoming just another terrible RGRE pony mare.
This pisses me off because instead of her changing her form because she wants to be something else, its her giving up and ceasing to be Lorraine so she can be loved by people she shouldn't even be caring about. The ones she should care about all care for her, and she should be turning to them for help instead of just surrendering. I read this story for Lorraine and John being wholesome, getting rid of part of that screws the whoke formula up.
Tl;dr By all appearances she's changing not because she wants to, but because she's giving up (with permanent consequences) when faced against the mares of ponyville, and that ruins the story.
Edit: as for the what I really don't have any preference as long as the why is vecause she wanta to and isn't her caving to people and hurting herself permanently.
God I love what you did with Blueblood, he's not a complete jackass/spoiled asshole and tho this is RGRE so there is that anywho, with what happened in the chapter and the description I'm kinda mixed on what she should be but flower doe seems better and shadow Hound is more John but that's me
The flora doe provides many interesting materials to write upon with Lorraine's personality very suited for it. Like a flower no one can pick. A doe is also a more common and easily acceptable race for the ponies. There are many great ways to write Lorraine trying to adapt to a half plant life. Plus, that means that there's less excuse for Alastors flirting.
The doggo is also interestting as It can use virtually any 'type' of magic given that her magic can be more suited for her purpose to the narrative since the canuds are looked upon as a more 'aggresive' race, you can write in how Jon will react towards her fear mongers. You can also write on Nightmares need for a guardian.
All in all both form provides interesting points that can be used later in the timeline. The flora doe is more interesting on a more personal level while the shadow doggo can be used to expound on story narrative.
While I want Lorraine to be me a shadow doggo know that the flora doe is also a very viable option to choose in case the story needed it. I will support both forms earnestly as the story continues.
Oho. This just makes the vote harder. Both the doe and the hound are very viable in their own way. The doggo is super interesting since you can play on that with Nightmare. But then theres the doe's powers and I see that connecting with our noodle dragon very well.
Heck, y'all. This is a hard choice!
Methinks the doggo is a better choice- mostly for the whole fact that you can play around with that and Nightmare and Luna being a grumpy child (literally haha)
Also I love doggos
Personally, I think changing species would detract from the story. It feels a bit too gimmicky and really breaks the immersion. Doubly so since they're shopping around about it.
I vote for the shadow doggo
Eh, i really dislike this, so she basically goes all woe is unto me people dislike me and wants to change and now boom her moping and woeing is enforced by literal gods stating that she is unable to be Luck Dragon anymore since ponies were too mean to her?
It is just... bah... she thinks she will be more accepted as some kind of a shadow hound? It just feels weak, and reinforcement from the gods feel like author wanting to enforce the decision for some reason. In my mind it should have been either personal wish or a forced option. Now in my mind it is either author wanting to enforce the first option by authority of a plot or enforce the second option to blunt the tragedy of the second.
This is my thinking, take it as you may, might not be useful at all.
I know it's a bit late for me to vote. But I dislike the idea of her changing to stop the harassment. No matter what she turns into it's still going to cause the harassment because they are harassing her over her mindset, not just her physical form. In fact, they're harassing her over being a Non-Pony with a Non-Pony mindset when it comes to relationships.
By choosing to become another Non-Pony species and not changing herself to a Pony mindset for relationships (A herd, stallions are inferior, etc...) it will quite literally change nothing about the harassment she is going to get aside from the fact that she is no longer a dragon and is now some other species. It's always sad to see a dragon die, in my opinion, and this feels like another one of those unfortunate situations because I was looking forward to her having little luck dragon Wyrmlings.
Probably yeah
I am John in this scene
It's not their thoughts she has a problem with, it's their actions, their words and how they treat her, her boyfriend and her friends... starting to feel like you're not much better Luna
Oh that's not good
Solaire, Solaire of Astora?
Too much hesitation there for me to believe you
Very true
Big Mac.
