Nice start for your first story. I know how much time it takes as I am too trying to write mine ^^
The adventures start pretty fast. I liked the fact you write using the first person (i.e. "I") when the main character is talking. It may be just me, but I think it involves even more the reader into the core of your story.
I am not an English-native speaker so don't mind my mistakes if there is any.
