Why oh WHY did you have to kill PINKIE PIE off like that, couldn't you have them keep her around and then get the Elements and once her's was on her body she would be healed along with her mind coming back to normal.
You could say all the laughter has been taken out of Twilight's life.
My first expression upon seeing this story is hoping for a realistic attempt on the [modern] Equstrain military at stopping the infected through whatever means necessary and not lose completely for the sake of plot devices but we'll see how deadly this thing is.
Let's hope that I'm not disappointed also random plane crashes do not happen unless the Pilots bucked up.
I need to ask this important questions...
Does the Equestrian military have a navy that can bombard the shores?
Does the military have Artillery? (Pinkie had that cannon)
Does the military have Armoured personal Carriers (APCs)?
Do they have Infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs)?
Do they have Tanks and if they do are they designed for Infantry?
Do they have flamethrowers (not unicorns with fire magic)?
Do they have fixed wing planes such as Close Air Support (CAS)?
Do they have helicopters?
They have balloons but that's World War one Technology not modern! Blimps are modern.
If the military had no air support or armour than they were f*cked the moment they entered Manehatten.
Wait do planes even exist in this world?!

I will answer what I can for the sake of possible future events in the story.
The military has artillery, though don't use it because of survivors still in the city, the same could be said for the lack of support from the navy, though I will say they attempted landfall, with failed results.
As for the tanks, APCs, etc. They have them, but not using them yet, that will be explained later.
There's no planes or helicopters, though there are Zeppelins. Why not use them? Again, will explain in actual story.
All I will give away for now is that the military force that first arrived were unprepared.
The rest I will leave out to avoid giving away spoilers.
Also, I'm sorry if none of these answers satisfy you. I barely consider myself an amateur writer. So, I'm sorry I can't make everything as realistic as the United States Military, but this is based off a cartoon of pastel horses. I still accept any and all criticism though, so don't be afraid to tell me how bad this story is. I know it's not anything great, but I'm trying.

Whoever was in charge of the "liberation" of Manehatten will be thrown under the bus by the entire Equestrian military or the Army which I will now call the Royal Equestrian Army or REA for sending soldiers into a urban environment were the enemy has taken over 80% of the population and expect them to clear it without APC support or bulldozer support to clear out traffic to allow armoured/unamoured trucks to protect soldiers and provide logistics to forces. They could also place barricades on roads to force the infected zombies into kill zones but they still failed with bad plan after bad plan after bad plan...
Zombies were already known in pop culture before the outbreak happened but when was the last war Equestria entered?
The Royal Equestrian Navy launch a naval landing for some reason to capture some strategic area at think but failed even with naval support...
The Royal Equestrian Airforce decided on not contracting ponies who built some flying objects that used rotors to fly and there Airships were busy
But generally we must no forget the antagonists of this story the ones that started the project that has taken over most of Eastern Equestrian cities
Okay.........What happened to Pinkie's body, if she can still be 'alive' after they took her out I'll be shocked and more so if she is still able to use her PInkie sense and her Pinkie abilities while undead.
