Really surprised more changelings didn't do this; the idea behind this is the metaphor of a battery in a flashlight... or changelings are long-forgotten bioarmor (another fic already did that one).

Tho, I still think changelings would keep the pony in themselves like a battery in a flashlight. Why fumble with a clumsy pod you have hide somewhere and then visit for a snack when you can carry your meal with you for a continuous nibble. And if worse comes to worse, ponies are much less likely to throw spears or blast you if that battery in your belly might get seriously hurt by their actions... hostage is such an ugly word.

Honestly... I like the idea that Daybreaker is somewhere inside Celestia's subconscious. Makes me want to write a fic from Tia's point of view with her having those "niggling little dark thoughts" in the back of her head and having like... mental conversations or something, and seeing her in her dreams, with Daybreaker.
