Equestria divided: The final chapter

Chapter 2, the news:

After their argument, Rarity decided to call it quits for the night and for them to go to bed, but right before they went, Twilight asked “one last question Rarity, where are the rest of the crusaders?”

Rarity answered “They are looking to find the rest of our agents and spies in the field, so we can regroup, Applebloom’s here because she found the agent we were looking for and has learned supposedly learned some important information.”

Twilight then asked suspiciously “what agent and what information?”

Rarity then answered with simply “tomorrow”.

Twilight wouldn’t take no for an answer, “What is it?”

Rarity then sternly said “I will tell you tomorrow and that’s final!”

Twilight conceded and then went to bed, as she got into the bed she thought about all that had happened since three years ago, they had actually all been at war with each other; after their exiling: they tried to stay together, but the lack of resources began to push them apart until they all separated, and formed their own tribes, in the freezing cold of the north, Celestia and Luna in all their complete idiocy exiled hundreds maybe thousands there, and the resources were very lacking to say the least and their were many battles and skirmishes between ourselves with our tribes, Twilight was with Fluttershy, Applejack and Rainbow Dash had teamed up together and Rarity was by herself, they fought each other’s clans many times, and eventually Rarity controlled most of the resources and exiles and was on the verge of defeating the rest of them, they then came to an agreement after they heard of what was happening in Equestria, to put their hostilities on hold at least until they had killed Pinkie, and returned to Equestria, they had plans to divide up what was left among us and the exiles once the cult of laughter was gone forever.

Their work together had rekindled their friendship and they all worked together to find Pinkie and her cult: they did find her and they made a plan, they knew that there was a good chance that she would kill them all, so Rarity who was the most powerful of them at the time would fight Pinkie and if Pinkie wasn’t defeated they would all rush her and defeat her, it didn’t work and they all “died” but Rarity had cast that spell that she didn’t tell them about, and in the end saved them. With their supposed deaths, Pinkie now thought she had taken them out and Twilight feared that she was now going to rampage across equestria and ‘convert’ everyone else. “They needed to act quickly,” Twilight thought before she fell asleep.

The next day she woke up to a ray of sunlight landing on her, it couldn’t have been more than 7 A.M. the sun fell and rose with no help because When the princesses die, the ability gets passed oan to the monarch of another kingdom. Anyway, Twilight left the room and reached the room she’d had dinner in last night. There was some activity, with Rarity and Fluttershy reading something, they looked distressed, Apple Bloom was nowhere to be found, Twilight then asked them in a tone full of dread “is something wrong?”

They looked at her and said grievingly “Applejack and Rainbow Dash didn’t make it,”

It took a few moments for her to realise what they’d said and then exclaimed “What do you mean their dead!?”

Rarity said: “Their injuries where too much, Fluttershy tried as hard as possible to save them but it was too much for them and they passed while you were asleep.”

Twilight stumbled hard and almost hit her head on the floor, her breathing became rough and quick as if the world was stealing the Oxygen from the air around her “How could this have happened?” “we were so close,” she thought.

A few minutes later, she was barely able to coherently form and sputter her next question “where’s Apple Bloom?”

“She went outside to grieve” they both replied.

Twilight then made a decision, “I’m going outside to see her,” she told them and headed off to the outside.

Once Twilight reached Apple Bloom outside she saw her holding something in her hoof: Twilight then realised that it was Applejack’s hat, she put her hoof on Applebloom’s nape, she looked behind her to see who it was and said “who goes there?” then, “Oh wait it’s you Twi,” Apple Bloom said to Twilight.

Apple Bloom was clearly grieving, she had had tears in her eyes, she talked as if she'd had a coughing fit, she was a mess, so Twilight decided to tell her about other things to try to get her mind off of her sisters passing “the weather is very nice today, especially for June, it even rained last night,” Twilight knew that the topic was very generic and not even compelling enough for most ponies to warrant a reply, there was no way that it was enough to distract her.

But to her surprise she answered back “I remember the last time it rained in June, it had rained the night before, me and Big Mac had gone into the orchards to collect some equipment, Big Mac slipped in the mud after I pushed him, he then pulled me down and we played in the mud, we were so dirty by the end of it,” she said with a chuckle. “Applejack had been happy for the rain because our irrigation system was broken and we were trying to fix it so the plants wouldn’t die, she had cared so much about those kind of things.” she said.

The two then went on to reminisce about Applejack for several more hours until it had gotten too dark to stay out. They then went back into their base, and there was a noise, she could hear Rarity and Fluttershy were talking to an unfamiliar voice, Twilight and Apple Bloom then both panicked and grabbed their weapons and went into the room expecting a flight, instead Twilight dropped her knife when she saw who it was, and shouted “Shining Armour!”.

Author's Note:

I decided to take some liberties with the mlp world in Equestria divided, the world was never really expanded on in the animations, so I decided to add quite a bit more details to it, I'm trying to make out Equestria in this future timeline as a nation that has completely fallen apart and the magic of friendship failed, and they're now picking up the pieces to try to rebuild, that is after they kill Pinkie after all.

I'm sorry, but that did it for me with this story, I won't be following it any further.

I can understand your disappointment, I was originally planing to keep them but then realised that I had no ideas of how to integrate them into the story. Also after looking at the animation, I realised that them surviving in the first place was a serious stretch so I made the decision to kill them off.

And since I have not watched the animation (and don't really plan on it at any point in time), I did not know that they were killed off in it.
