Luna's Birthday Surprise

My 1st Story On Fimfiction!

PS-This story was made specially because this is my first one on Fimfiction!

It was a fine Spring day in Canterlot. Outside the castle, a cool breeze wafted about. Luna jumped out of bed with a grin on her face.

"FINALLY! The d-day hast arrived! It is our birthday! Now, we are free to use The Royal 'We' AND The Royal Canterlot Voice as much as we want!" said Luna, grabbing a beautiful blue and black hairbrush, encrusted with many different types of jewels, and combing her wonderful flowing mane and tail, which sparkled and glittered more than ever, in vibrant rainbow hues. Luna quickly trotted off to the bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face, and came out feeling refreshed and awake after a long night of warding off ponies' nightmares. She hummed to herself as she applied on a fresh new coat of her famous blue eye shadow, and then walked off, down to breakfast.

On the way, she passed by a few attendants, none of which wished her 'Happy Birthday'. "Huh...that's weird...we were sure the whole castle would know about our birthday...oh well, perhaps they are new, or Celestia forgot to tell them, or something." she muttered, brushing it off lightly. She was, after all, now 8,692 years old, and she did not want to act like a baby and ruin her special day. Soon, she reached the breakfast hall, and found that her sister was no where to be seen. "Celestia? Celestia! Where art thou?" Luna called, looking around in all directions. "Perhaps she's in the kitchen?" Luna mused, trotting over to the kitchen, where her sister was sure to be making Luna a very special Birthday Breakfast. But when Luna entered the kitchen, Celestia wasn't there either. As Luna inspected the entire kitchen, she noticed something, carefully covered with a lid, on the marble slab. She carefully tip-toed over to it, wondering if it was one of her sister's 'Head-On-A-Plate' pranks. But on the lid, there was a note from Celestia, which read:

'Dear Lulu,

I made you some breakfast. And don't worry, there's no special occasion. You just looked so peaceful sleeping, that I thought you would be too tired to be able to make any breakfast. I'm sorry I couldn't be here to watch you eat my famous pancakes, as I had some work outside of Canterlot. Enjoy the pancakes!

P.S. - There's some chocolate syrup, maple syrup, honey and butter in the fridge. Take whatever you like!

P.P.S. - Feel free to go to Sugarcube Corner. I checked your schedule, and you're free for today.'

That was it. Luna turned the note over to see if there was anything written behind it, but there was nothing. Still confused, Luna used her horn to light to light a scented candle that she had found in the storage cupboard nearby, and held up the note to the flame. Still nothing.

"That's it?! B-b-but...she couldn't have forgotten our birthday, could she? We are her younger sister, after all...but..this note..." Luna felt a wave of sadness overcome her, only to be replaced by anger, causing her to dash the lid to the floor, and she suddenly didn't feel so hungry after all.

Still, she didn't want to starve to death on her Birthday, so she levitated some chocolate syrup from the fridge, and poured it on those four pancakes.

While she ate, her mind drifted to the attendants, and the note from her sister. "Firstly, those attendants didn't wish me, and now Celestia has forgotten our Birthday. On top of that, she couldn't make time to see us! Could her work be causing this? Surely not...even Amnesia isn't a very convincing guess. Your only sister's Birthday isn't hard to remember."

She finished her breakfast and left her plate in the sink. She looked for the little golden bell, which usually hung from a hook, near the sink. It was used to call one of the attendants, a silver pegasus mare named 'Shiny Days', to wash the princesses' plates. Today, however, the bell wasn't on the hook. "Does this mean WE have to wash our plate? US?" Luna cried out in exasperation. This Birthday just wasn't going well. Luna grumbled as she washed her plate, a defiant pout on her face. Woe betide anypony who dared to come in her way!

Then suddenly, Luna had an idea. "Why don't we visit Ponyville? Everypony there is so friendly. And at least they will surely remember our birthday!" With this thought, she shouted to the Royal Scheduling Advisors. "KIBITZ! RAVEN! WE ARE GOING OUT FOR A STROLL IN PONYVILLE!" Not waiting for a reply, she quickly galloped to her bedchambers and grabbed her saddle bag and water bottle, which she filled with water in the kitchen.

Soon, she was ready to go out. But she first consulted the clock, which said 10:33, and then left. She decided against the chariot, and started flying. On the way, she passed by a beautiful mountain valley, where a train was slowly chugging along the tracks. Luna increased her speed a bit and flew up to the window of the driver's cabin, and looked in with a grin. The driver, a crystal mare, was extremely shocked to see Luna, to the point that she was speechless! Luna chuckled and flew on. She didn't have far to fly. Soon she reached Ponyville, or as some ponies liked to call it, The Kingdom Of Ponyville.

As soon as she landed, ponies started bowing to her and greeting her, but still nopony wished her. Luna pretended to be happy, smiled, and walked on. Inside, however, she was the saddest pony in Equestria.

She walked slowly, still smiling, to her most favourite place in Ponyville: Sugarcube Corner, and turned the door handle. "SURPRISE!" shouted a bunch of ponies, including Celestia, Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Spike, Cadence, Shining Armour, Night Light and Twilight Velvet. Flurry Heart, of course, could only gurgle and giggle. "Wha-what is this?" she managed to stutter. Celestia piped up: "Why, it's a Birthday Party, my dear Luna. Never heard of one? It's when-" "Alright, alright, I know what a party is." grumbled Luna. "Well, you forgot your Royal 'We', Luna." smirked Celestia.

"Forget it. Although, about that note on the lid..."

"Ah, so you got my note, I presume?"

"Yes...but...was it really necessary to remove the bell and make me feel worse?" Luna asked, a bit of annoyance in her tone of voice.

"Um...well...I suppose maybe I went just a little overboard."

"A little?"

"Okay, a lot."

"Well, forget that, you guys, we have a party to celebrate!" shouted Pinkie, trotting up to them. Soon enough, they were all partying and having the time of their lives, even more so when the black and blue Marble Birthday Cake was ready.

Especially Luna.

Other. For some reason ( and this is my grandma's laptop btw ) it just goes black every time we turn it on. The screen just stays dark. We don't know if it's a virus or what. 😅 My guess is it's old, like you also guessed XD

Actually, v have 2 computers, one is a Toshiba, NON-touch screen computer, Windows 7 proffesional, and its older. The other one is an Acer touch-screen computer, Windows 8, and it's newer. So, the Toshiba one is mine.

I’m really surprised how no-one’s commented as yet about the fact that this story is rather cliche. Here’s the plot (oops, my bad, unintended pun, sorry. nowadays, no-one seems to appreciate a good pun anymore) in a nutshell:

Birthday pony wakes up, finds out everypony has forgotten birthday, starts moping around, somehow ends up at secret birthday party, happy ending.
