I actually thought it was Fluttershy as well.
Oh no. What an unexpected twist. I have been utterly bamboozled.![:ajsmug:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/ajsmug.png)
Great chapter.
Spoilers: It didn't take me long to spot that it was really Rarity. But then when the reveal came, I was like, "The ONE TIME I actually want everything to go exactly according to Chrysalis's master plan, and it's a total coincidence?! WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING HERE" ...but now it seems like it was on purpose after all (impulsive decision), but maybe Chrysalis got a lot more than she was asking for?
P.S. Chrysalis playing matchmaker doesn't happen in enough stories. I'd like to see one where Chrysalis and Cadance have a "good cop, bad cop" thing going on.
Snrk, I was sure it was the real Rarity the moment she walked in.
Applejack.exe has encountered and error and will now close.
Oooh, pool of tentacle goo.
Don't lose your dreams, Chryssie!
I love this. I really do. Bring me more and I shall read more. I don't care if this world burns. I will still find a way to read this fucking gold
Well, I'm REALLY HAPPY for Rarity and Applejack, I hope they can have a TRUE romance (if both of them join the herd, that is another story), but I'm hyped for them in a relationship.
I would love if AJ and Rares get sex friends with Twi and Salis, but having their own relationship aat the top of priorities.
What makes guess if FlutterShy and RainbowDash could have their romance :3
Futa Rainbow having sex with FlutterShy, maybe? GOOOO
Hmmm, sounds familiar...
8713162
I knew I wasn't the only one who felt something familiar with that line. It's from a popular fimfic, isn't it? I never read it myself, but the cover art was so good and the long description gave enough detail that I managed to pick up on nod.
Called it with Rarity. Chryssy is devious to do it. But seems to catch her unawares. and Chryssy their is a chance.
Lol, that was just horrible what Chrysalis did to Applejack in the best way possible. I saw it coming a mile away, but it was still so awesome when Chrysalis revealed herself. In my head, I was just waiting for Chrysalis to just come strolling into room with a smug grin on her face. Though, that isn't exactly what happened, the conclusion we got was still enjoyable. It's interesting to see how Chrysalis is slowly changing. If I had to guess why I(and likely others) enjoy it so much is because Chrysalis only changes at her own pace and only because she wants to, not because the ponies force her to. Not once in this story has Chrysalis truly 'lost to' or been at the mercy of the ponies because whenever she doesn't 'win,' she adapts to the changed 'battleground' faster than anyone can react and thus manages to roll with the punches, so to speak.
In fact, all this will only make it more exciting when Chrysalis starts to change more and realizes her feelings for Twilight run deeper than she intended. Personally, I'm hoping she molts her shell at some point and Twilight is forced to take care of her during the process. Either that, or Chrysalis could get hurt protecting Twilight and this could cause Twilight to question how she and how Chrysalis feels about their marriage that Chrysalis would willingly sacrifice herself for Twilight.
It'll also be interesting to see whatever you have planned for the princesses. I'm hoping they both(or at least Luna) eventually join Twilight's herd(and thus Chrysalis' hive). Also, looking forward to any interactions Chrysalis has with Cadance. It'd be fun to see them team up and try to "spread the love," so to speak.
Can't wait for the next chapter. =)
This chapter was great cant wait for more!![](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsmile.png)

It’s The Enchanted Library by Monochromatic
8713329
That was it. =)
🎶 this day is going to be perfect 🎶
I hope you actually get there, but in a way that doesn't feel like a surrender on Chrysalis' part. Make her "proud, dangerous and beautiful" instead of the current "proud, dangerous and starving" look. Perhaps she just fills in the holes.
On note of the metamorphosis, what we currently have is:
On another note, I wonder what the differences between the offspring that Chrysalis sires and the offspring she lays. Perhaps the ones she lays are a greater investment of energy and effort and thus more capable? (or unique → Pharynx?)
I think we're starting to get to the meat of her trust issues. Besides having a hard life, Chrysalis had her dreams shattered at least twice before. Getting her to dare to hope again won't be easy.
I'm kinda hoping AJ gets Twi or Rares to give her an Apple, rather than Chrys. Seems like a better arc for growth.
You gotta love how Chrissy is becoming one of Harmony and love even against her not so deep wishes, for she truly wants to be accepted and loved... Something Twilight gives her freely and willingly.
8713162
Yes. I too remember read something about that.(wrong villain though.)
8712909
I know right? Chrysalis would be perfect as love coach, helping ponies find their soul mates or mending broken relationships. Course, after she stops trying to eat ponies' faces off.
8713017
I ain't stopping anytime soon, no worries, you'll get your fix! Gotta admit reading comments like yours makes ridiculously happy. Cheers!
8713329 8713330
Ayeup! I do love me some Monochromatic, Enchanted Library is one of my fave stories on the site. Just look at my top favorites on my profile, Enchanted Library has found its place at the top as soon as I read it. I do hope anyone that hasn't read it gives it a shot, it's a real treat.
8713275![:pinkiehappy:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiehappy.png)
Trying to be sneaky about the reveal was a tricky thing to do, that's for sure. I might have left too many clues, but oh well, it's fiiine. As for Chrysalis, we'll see. Her hoping for more might be a good thing for Twi, but for herself, it might be poison. Good and evil under the same roof, hard to hope for them to get along. One might say, it's doomed to end in tragedy. Maybe.
8713279
I love the idea of Chrysalis being a creature that can change her body at will, but at the same time is unwilling to change her mind at all. She's like a boulder, by trying to change her by force you'll either hurt yourself or break her apart. Rock can be molded if you take it slow though. It's like boiling a frog, you put it in cold water and slowly warm it up. But what happens when the frog realizes it... We'll see :D
8713508
Oh, I actually hadn't considered Thorax becoming a gummy bear would be out of a desire to look more like ponies... I really like this idea! And it does fit Pharynx distinctive look... Hmmm...
8713712
as a fellow story writer it's hard to pull stuff on me. Withy your version of Chryssy I wouldn't have put it passed her to pull this off. and even if it was her she had really improved her acting skills.
and you never know. there is a reason for Twilylis after all.
8713712
Perhaps as the story progresses and Twilight starts to realize how Chrysalis is slowly changing for the better, Twilight could become 'overzealous' and try to force Chrysalis to 'change' faster, such as tricking her into meeting with the other changelings in order to share love. Of course, this would end horribly and could make Twilight realize that Changeling Queens don't bend, they break and that trying to force Chrysalis to change faster than she's ready to would be catastrophic.
Another interesting facet you could add to the story is having negative emotions be poison for changelings. What you could do is have Chrysalis be put in a situation where she's forced to compromise her beliefs(most likely because of Twilight) or anything that would cause her to hate, and thus poison, herself. It would certainly put into perspective that not only would forcing Chrysalis to change break her, but it'd also likely kill her.
Just my idle thoughts on things you could add to the story. Don't take them too seriously. =)
8713758
That would not make sense though, her changelings were able to change, why wouldn't she? I could see her being poisoned by something, but I think she needs to go through the change, otherwise she will simply keep doing this over and over. Also she would be hurting her's and Twilight's children by forcing them to remain as their black, hole ridden, love deprived bodies as they would constantly be hungry and possibly even vicious. Also I am doubtful any changelings Twilight spawn's will ever have any genetic traits from her as long as Chrysalis remains as she is.
Last chapter: obligatory futa Twilight![:twilightoops:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightoops.png)
![:raritystarry:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/raritystarry.png)
This chapter: Rarajack ship all the way! [seriously ship it like Fedex, UPS and Amazon ]
I really like this story, I'm going to bet that Chrysalis actually stops here with adding to the herd [for now at least], I can see it now the hive of the four queens with the guardian dragon.
Please sir, can I have some more.
8714121
I think that's a key point of the story, though. The story isn't just about Chrysalis changing and adapting to living with Twilight and other ponies. It's about them changing to living with her as well and forcing her to align perfectly with the ponies ideology would be counter intuitive to that. I don't deny that Chrysalis might go through a metamorphosis(or she might not, who knows), but whatever change she goes through, I highly doubt she'll end up like Thorax and the rest of the changelings.
If you were asking why wouldn't Chrysalis want to change, that can be put down to Chrysalis just being herself. In canon and in this story, it's made very clear what she thinks about turning into anything like Thorax.
8714562
I get that, but I just don't see how a true happy ending can come from this, if Chrysalis just sleeps with all of Twilight's friends and vice versa they sleep with her. It seems to undermine any relationship Twilight and them might be in because, oh, is Twilight tired of Chrysalis, oh no worries, she has about 5 other ponies she can sleep with. Also if its not ok to make Chrysalis conform to pony standards, then why is it ok to force the ponies to conform to Changeling standards? There has to be a middle ground, and their has to be somethings they both have to give up. Considering Twilight has already given up her virginity, castle, and is sharing her wife with two of her friends now, I would say Twilight has already given up enough, so shouldn't it be time for Chrysalis to give up something, like maybe her form.
8714575
I see this story ending one of two ways. One, Chrysalis metamorphizes and learns to live like ponies. Put simply, this one has Chrysalis essentially throw out everything that she is in order to embrace life with ponies. Personally, I doubt this'll happen, but it's possible none the less. Second, and far more likely in my opinion, is Chrysalis slowly starts to come around after Twilight has given her so much(as you said, her virginity, her friends, her castle etc) and eventually comes to a moment where she'll offer to give up her form for Twilight(since that's what it is to Chrysalis, giving up part of who she is) and Twilight would most likely say she doesn't have to anymore as Twilight would then understand why Chrysalis is the way she is and what giving up her form would mean to her. This has already been shown to be happening when Chrysalis asked Twilight is they could ever be like 'them'. Showing that she's slowly coming round to viewing Twilight as more than just a meal.
So, to sum up, I think Chrysalis will eventually reach a point where she'll offer to give up her form for Twilight, which Twilight would then rebuke as she would understand what that means to Chrysalis.
8714609
The problem with that though is by having Twilight except that, she is excepting that not only will Chrysalis not be solely hers but she may never have foals that will bear her genes and continue her legacy. Also having Chrysalis change in such a way where she becomes a better Changeling Queen but does not change her form, is only a short term solution. Unless the author is going for the idea that Twilight is immortal, then Chrysalis will definitely out live her. So what happens then, when she loses the first pony that loved her for her. Whats to say she would not revert back to her old ways, once she realizes that other ponies might not be as forgiving and understanding as Twilight was? Is it not better to change her form to get rid of the long term pain and hunger she may feel one day then to continue to hold on to her past? Also, we all just assume that Chrysalis going through metamorphosis, means she will look like Thorax, yet thanks to the mlp comics we already have a look for a reformed Chrysalis who still has her color scheme and setting but has the sparkly butterfly wings like the other changelings. Chrysalis changing her form does not necessarily mean a complete change in look, it just means it would make her body more acceptable to living without the constant need for love. Since she would no longer need love to feed herself she could start actually loving Twilight and any future husband or wife she may have afterwards as well as give birth to a new generation of changelings that will never have to suffer the way her originals ones did for likely thousands of years.
8714677
Oh, I see what you're saying now! All my conclusions up to this point only drew upon what was deliberately implied or said in the story. You're trying to look deeper into the story into things that aren't mentioned. For example, no where in the story does it draw any attention to Twilight being mortal vs immortal or ever wanting children to carry on her legacy. Because of that, I never paid those details any mind since they were inconsequential to the story. Essentially, I didn't try to make look deeper into the story than was intended by the author.
You're right that, upon looking deeper, there are problems with the way Twilight's and Chrysalis' relationship has progressed and likely will continue to progress. Unfortunately, I think this isn't because of the story so much as it's because of Chrysalis as a character. Any story I read that tries to stay true to Chrysalis' canon personality(like this one) and have her be in a relationship, usually have the pony in the relationship give a lot more before Chrysalis starts to give back. Think on it, can you see the Chrysalis in this story giving as much as you're implying without Twilight giving a whole lot more first?
As for all the details and inconsistencies you look for in the story, I think you're looking too far into the story such that there isn't really an answer to your points that wouldn't completely change the direction of the story. Until the author draws attention to Twilight wanting children to carry on her legacy or whether she's mortal or not, I think readers are just going to have to ignore plot holes like that.
And lastly, concerning Chrysalis changing, I took a look at the picture of the good Chrysalis from the comics(she kind of looks like a grandma) and I just can't see Chrysalis ever becoming anything like that Chrysalis, in either form or personality. Doing so would require her to essentially give up all the deception and subterfuge that makes up such a large portion of who she is, and I just can't see that happening. As I previously stated, the story seems centered around having Twilight learn to accept Chrysalis for who she is and having Chrysalis learn to bend a little and not lie and deceive so much.
P.S: And for Chrysalis inducting other mares into her hive/Twilight's herd. I put that one down to necessity. It even says that Chrysalis needs other broodmares to carry her young if she wants to rebuild her hive. The only compromise that can really be made here is having Chrysalis check with Twilight before trying to add to her hive, which the story seems to be doing if the latest chapter with Applejack is any indication.
8714779
I get what you are saying, but I was merely pointing to that Chrysalis as an example, sense there is no "canon" reformed Chrysalis, the author would have the freedom to make Chrysalis look however they wanted her to look. The point of the change is to get rid of the hunger portion and the need to breed with so many mares. Changing does not mean that Chrysalis as a character has to change as well, it just means that what she does is not really necessary and she could still be given the time to adjust and grow out of these habits. I mean, the only thing that changed about Thorax was his look and his need to feed on love, but other than that he is the same Thorax. So Chrysalis would not necessarily need to change her personality, but it could help her see that her insecurities are not just. And even though yes the future stuff likely won't be explored in the story, I still atleast think that for Chrysalis sake she deserves a long term plan.
I just feel that if she changed, she may become excepting to other ponies, and then they may learn to lover her for her, so she won't need to be decisive anymore. Also I would expect some of what Chrysalis is needs to change anyway if we want to see her reformed. I mean reformed Princess Luna is nothing like Nightmare Moon, and Discord (while still a troll) has shown he does care about his friends, something he would have never batted an eye at before if a ponies life was in danger. So having her learn to be less deceiving would only be beneficial, but her not being deceiving anymore does not mean she still can tease, or mess around, it would just mean shes doing it for fun instead of a means of hurting the pony shes doing it to.
8715183
I suppose we each have our own version of Chrysalis we're hoping comes to fruition and we'll just have to wait and what becomes of Chrysalis. =)

Ship it like an Amazon package being sent via UPS and handed off to the USPS for last-mile delivery?
So fucking good mate
8713508
Here are some more thoughts about Chrysalis' mental state:
I absolutely expected that it was the real Rarity, but damn you, you sure know how to make me doubt my convictions![:rainbowlaugh:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/rainbowlaugh.png)
Well, that was quite the heart to heart indeed.
Though bravo to AJ for actually getting Chrysalis to see things from Twilight's perspective, that there's more than just the queen's own world view.
There's chance for you yet, lovebug!
Honestly, they really should be pull an old fashioned “Fluttershy-on-Discord” type scenario fairly soon if they don’t want Chrysalis to try and take over again, because right now, at least to me, it looks like they aren’t just blindly falling into place in a chess game for Chrysalis, they are actually intentionally walking down the little dotted lines she’s drawn up for them with a dopey smile.
8716236
Well, the chapter also revealed that Chrysalis doesn't have any plans and is apparently just running on instincts, natural and political. She's not drawing any dotted lines.
I think a possible endgame could be that by the time she realizes she has amassed enough power and offspring to actually succeed at conquering Equestria, the bonds to her lovers (and friends?) will be more important to her.
This doesn't necessarily lead to a great moment of conflict where she is forced to choose between friends and power. Her goals could just change a bit. After all, while military conquest and the institution pony slavery would not be met with approval, some softer approaches to gaining influence in Equestria for both herself and her Changelings won't, and may even be applauded.
The political machinations of Princess-consort Chrysalis is something I would really like to read about, but most probably out of scope for this fic.
I realize I've been regurgitating my fanon for three posts but haven't praised the author yet. Gloria auctor! ArmadilloEater, reading your fic has been a delight that's kept me on the edge of my seat and your naughtywords have been tickling my fetishes. Seeing a new chapter in my feed is like an unexpected birthday present. 😃 You're a great writer and I can't wait for more of your awesome work.
8715183
Why does she need to lose that? She could be gaining volunteers instead!
Reminds me of the fic "Queen Chrysalis' Foundation for Volunteer Incubators", another fic combining clop and drama, which hit my fetishes both harder (oviposition into a pony) and not (serious pain). Sadly it was abandoned.
Perhaps one of the ways our ponies will have to adapt to Chrysalis (and not the other way around) is that sexual exclusivity to a small group is impossible for her.
I still want to see what that spawning pool is capable of...
8716722
Because, the center focus of the story is suppose to be the relationship with Twilight and Chrysalis, having to many characters added to the relationship, starts to lessen the actual growth of the two who are suppose to be in a relationship, especially if those others are only their for breeding purposes. It not only stops them from actually gaining actual relationships and starting their own families, but it takes them away from their families and duties. For instance, if AppleJack joins, even if she can leave and go back to her farm, how would her family react, they are extremely sensitive when it comes to tradition, so having her move out, and into a herd, might not sit well with her family. Also how would this effect Fluttershy and Discord's relationship, even if he does not kill Chrysalis for mating with her, he still most likely wants nothing to do with her, so if Fluttershy gets assimilated into the herd, and moves in, then she will constantly be around Chrysalis.
Also it can be a hindrance for Chrysalis, we already know, other changelings can mate and breed with ponies, its just they don't lay as many offspring as the Queen, so their species survival is not dependent solely on Chrysalis, plus if she does keep this habit, what happens if in the future, when Twilight and her friends pass on, do you think any other pony Chrysalis might fall for would except this, and be as understanding as Twilight? Because if there was ponies as understanding I am doubtful Chrysalis would have ended up the way she is now to begin with. Thus this could damage the progress Twilight made and put Chrysalis back to square one.
Darn I am losing bets left and right with these chapters... fortunately I did not make any actually bet nor did anyone take me up on them because I would be losing three bets in a row... did not see any of these chapters coming the way they did.
8717180
I said "small group" and not just "Twilight" because the story has already established polygamous herds as the norm for Equestria. Herds are the natural and traditional style of pony relationships. Monogamy is a recent (in centuries) development that has been confined to the capital. (I wonder what Celestia, who monogamy developed around, thinks of it.) We don't know how big the average herd is.
Chrysalis already picked the Mane 6 plus Starlight and Trixie as her prospective wives. Twilight also just substituted for the stallions Chrysalis required. (She doesn't know it's Starlight's spell.
) She sees Spike as her child (being surprised at her own motherly behavior) and plans to "let him have" Rarity. Rarity, meanwhile, also has a thing for Fluttershy. Applejack and Rarity are both polygamous. Applejack's family would not be weirded out by her joining a herd and pregnancy is expected. Being pregnant with changelings might be different, though. I'm not sure if we know anything (from the show or here) about bigotry in the Apple family.
I was musing that Chrysalis' reproductive impetus is so demanding that eight broodmares aren't enough. We don't know how many broodmares she considers to be normal. It's probably a lot of mares, though, given the amount of alcoves (beds) next to the spawning pool.
On the other hand, she expects to need a "whole herd of stallions" for her female parts but is surprised when Twilight manages to satisfy her. So maybe she built too many beds. Then again, that same surprise leads to her concluding she needs to "compensate with more broodmares".
We also don't know how long a "nesting phase" lasts or how often it occurs. Perhaps it's periodic. Perhaps it's voluntary. Perhaps it's connected to emotion intake and lasts as long as she has abundant food available. Neither do we know how strong her sex drive is outside of the nesting phase. Perhaps she becomes less promiscuous or even uninterested.
Maybe her herd would be sufficient only if they were constantly pregnant. I wonder how long an enslaved broodmare managed to last while Chrysalis was building her last hive. If the stress cut their lives short, Chrysalis would be discouraged from subjecting her herd to it. Thus, spreading her seed would allow her to avoid overwhelming her mates. Given the tone of the story and her comment about filling Twilight up again as soon as she delivers, this seems unlikely, however.
Chrysalis breeding a large group of volunteers appeals to my fetishes. Those beds need to be filled with full-bellied mares. Mares sleeping soundly at night. Being brought breakfast. Reading books. Gossiping. And watching what happens in the spawning pool, stroking themselves.
The relationship between the herd and the volunteers could be that of parents and surrogate mothers. Googling a bit brings up lots of information (and even some studies) about surrogacy relationships. It seems they can be quite varied, from life-long friends to moving on after birth.
This contradicts Twilight's talk with Thorax. Queens are the only changelings who can reproduce.
While fucking Chrysalis-as-Luna, Twilight's fantasies of breeding Luna for the rest of "her immortal life" implies Twilight shares her immortality.
Zecora was ostracized just for looking weird, yet the ponies immediately warmed up to her after being introduced properly. Chrysalis still has an unfriendly attitude, but will that still be the case after a century of being with Twilight?
Discord hasn't been mentioned even once. Maybe they don't have a relationship. Maybe they're polygamous as well. Maybe he would be jealous. Maybe he would be indifferent. Maybe he would be supportive. Maybe he would put it on film and make an educational movie.
8717632
Ok I will admit I forgot the part where Thorax mentioned that, so ok I guess she need to breed, but nothing mentions that Twilight could not feel that role of a brood mare alone.
I will have to reread that but I don't recall them mentioning that Twilight wanted to breed Luna "for the rest of her immortal life".
True they mention that it is natural for ponies to mate in herds, but they also mention it as a "out dated" form of relationship and Twilight even mention how she was raised that "the two ponies in love" style relationship was the current norm.
I did not mean that Discord and Fluttershy was in a physical relationship, I mean relationship as in what they have in the show, where they are best friends and Discord comes to visit her for teaparties. I would figure Discord hates Chrysalis and would be very apprehensive about Fluttershy being near her after what she did to Discord and Fluttershy in the Season 6 final.
I mean this is the authors story so if they want a herd style relationship then that's their decision, I just don't see why they couldn't have just had Twilight and Chrysalis be set up as only friends and roommates and the herd comes about instead of setting up a natural marriage between the two, setting up a relationship between just Chrysalis and Twilight only to then start to add all of her friends into the herd. I mean is she going to get married to all of them? Would she even be able to? Yes the herd might be natural, but at this point in time it is no longer considered the norm. Also Twilight does not approve of the herd, and it feels like if she does eventually approve, it will feel more like she was forced, rather than wanting it herself. I mean had it been set up that Twilight had secret fantasies about being in a herd with her friends then I could understand but she was genuinely hurt by Chrysalis's betrayal and was even warning Chrysalis when she found out she was trying to get Apple Jack. I mean I can only hope that if the herd is finalized that they will all atleast get officially married rather than just having Twilight and Chrysalis be in the actual relationship and her friends are just their for Twilight and Chrysalis to mate with.
Something something additional pylons... or overlords as the case may be.
Also, Applejack... come on. Anyone could see that switch coming from space![:facehoof:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/facehoof.png)
wow this chapter really moved the story forward and in all the right ways.![](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/heart.png)
i am really liking how this is all going.
Still an excellent story.
8718319
'You must construct additional pylons' is the protoss sided one while zerg are the 'Spawn more Overlords'
Forgive me on this but I am a Starcraft guy... love that game.
8748116
Eh, zerg player here, I do love me some Starcraft references. I'm still scratching my head as to how I can cram an allusion to a "six pool rush" in this story. I'll find a way.
8748243
Remind me, what is a six pool rush? And a Allusion? Also I am mostly terran but I do dabble in others to make it more interesting and broaden my skill. Got to keep it open.
