This story is sort of a midquel that takes place within Family of a LIfetime. Set during the year of bonding before Rainbow Dash and Indominus are married and three months after Indominus made his proposal at the Gala.

Scootaloo is close to getting the family she's always wanted. Ever since the Grand Galloping Gala, things have been looking up for the young filly. Indominus and Rainbow are getting along really well, and growing closer to each other. Scootaloo has become an incredible flyer, and is passing on her training to the dinosaurs. She even has a lover in Tyrannosaurus Rex, but the time for bonding is about to be put on hold. The dinosaurs are visited by the same dragons that helped them in the fight against Black Death. Their lord had heard of the dinosaurs' achievements and has requested an audience with them. Now Indominus, Tyrannosaurus and the raptor squad must travel to the land of the dragons. Unaware that they will be tested by a dragon who reigns supreme over all others. The Dragon King: Smaug.
