So Katyla is older than Twilight by at least a year (although there is no indication of an exact difference), but it competing with her in school? In order for that to happen, either she was held back -- which seems unlikely -- or Twilight was jumped ahead a year. In the latter case, any success would be slightly soured by the fact that one is doing something well enough to skip ahead like that. I also sincerely doubt the teachers would keep track of how many of what grade a student got. At the very least, not off the top of their heads.
Yes, Twilight did skip ahead a year, and it's not Celestia keeping track of the grades, it's both of the sisters. And solely for their little competition. Though I bet Katyla would still keep track even after they stopped competing with each other.

) I was thinking about Harry Potter as I wrote this, and rereading it, realized that there are two Harry Potter references. Whoever finds them first will have their OC featured in the next chapter!
