frabjous day
Ah shoot, I never commented on the previous chapter; I meant to and then I never did. Should do that before I read this one.
A nice change and good chapter. Great work!
Well, fraggit. Some things get better.... some things get worse.
Afraid I'm not going to EFNW this year, Somber, but have a great time!
Also, in the chapter list on the story page, this chapter is missing the "Chapter 13:".
Wheeeeeeeeeeeew... what a chapter this was, nicely done man, nicely done
8141853 I wondered too, but just assumed it was a side arc or bonus arc, since it was not involving scotch's party. so no number
Awesome chapter can't wait to read more!!!!!!
Nice to touch base with these characters, if only briefly.
Really enjoy your work!
Because the 'casual' part is really what annoys her.
Don't need the 'As' in this sentence.
After PH, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
This sounds like the kind of phrase normally said right before assassinating somepony.
One more bullet in Chekhov's magazine.
Wow, what a son of a bitch.
Pissed-off spirits?
Teetotalers? In the post-apocalypse?
He was carrying mines, you idjit.
I don't recall if I've said this before but the legions give me a strong 40k vibe.
Good to catch up with all the people Scotch Tape's party have run into before. ;)
Aww, poor Lumi Hope the river takes him somewhere safe... or to Scotch and her group, which in all likeness is the opposite of safe :p
Have fun at EFNW^^
Was a little disappointed that the gang didnt show up but all was forgiven for the advancement of the story. What can i say, im a sucka for a good story and this is yet another good one...
Still waiting for Scotch and Pythia to make out
It's gonna happen. Even if they dont get together its gonna happen atleast once, i know you too well Somber to think otherwise
I'm afraid... what is causing these these regenerations and decays, who is this shaman, and what is Kyro up to... so many questions, but at some point we will know.
Waiting for scotch to get drunk on scotch.
If there's soil involved, it isn't really hydroponics, is it?...
Well, no wonder she has no respect for traditions or spirits. She might as well be a pony, when you get down to it. But of course she's striped so it's just a funny little character flaw instead of making her some kind of lesser life form. (Yeah, I have problems with zebra attitudes.)
This shaman didn't happen to have a young daughter...?
Innnteresting. Did Scotch's corn trade unintentionally buy Rice River a few extra weeks?
Well then! That answers a few questions.
Now I wonder if there's counterculture zebras using similar potions to turn their stripes all kinds of crazy colors...
...or white...
...to blend in with ponies...
Welcome to the Hundred-Hectare Swamp. It's a very blustery day.
Oh man, shits getting real all over the place. Can't wait to fully meet all these villians. Loving it all. Somber, keep peddling your word meth, I needs moah! Also where can I find this website or your writing you speak of?

TBF it seems like a bunch of ponies had/have pretty similar attitudes re: zebras. Granted, more along the lines of seeing you as separate or a threat if you’re striped, even if you were a loyal Equestrian/just kinda there in the Wasteland.
Well, with it not being just one thing, and pretty simple (or dyes like Shujaa’s), don’t see why not. Of course, at that point, why limit to just white (or black) to blend in, rather than change both black and white stripes to a third shade?
Spirits be goin' crazy.
I imagine that would spoil any mood.
Fuck yeah! (Pun intended) he just landed himself some pussy!
good job, doctor. Your good nature and complicated life have rewarded you with an equally convuluted and fucked up girl.
i bet she'd just been waiting for an excuse to do that.
either that, or she was just really horny.
XD this just killed me.
I'm really wondering why this natural disaster keeps reacurring.
it's baeutiful for one moment, and then it's like luck took a sling shot.
A massive, blessed +.
Then a massive, lethal -
And then everything ='s again.
So weirs. Strange. I wonder if one of these will encounter our dear green heroine?
Why do I feel like we just met the High Shaman who was supposed to 'blind the world'? Wonder how far up the antagonist chain he is. A mook like Riptide and Haimon. A middle man. Or something more.
And I also get the feeling these decay spells on that ship and previously near New Appleoosia are tests for something far larger...
Loving these chapters that focus on the other goings on in the story.
I'm getting a Walking Dead Negan vibe from Haimon, which totally fits the bill. Now won't be able to NOT imagine a zebrafied Jeffrey Dean Morgan. XD But damn it sucks that he killed Max.
So I feel like maybe there was something missing about Galen's injuries when the mob attacked him. The first time we meet Galen he said that he "doesn't bring life into the world". The first time I read that part and considered him rejecting the Carnillian's Tradition. I thought he was castrated, at worst, infertile, or celibate. Then the part about the Mob beat down came and I was surprised that they did everything to him BUT that. It makes sense to me that a Carnillian Proditor would be forcefully castrated to signify their defiance or unwillingness to produce life. But I guess it's only the act of killing that makes him Proditor.
Today in Homelands: A whole lot of Zebras get killed in gruesome ways. I think it’s time to start a brutally killed Zebra counter™.
I like these short breaks from our main cast to show what the other characters the group has encountered so far are up to. It allows the story to tell us more about characters we other wouldn’t see again for a long time and shows us that there are other important things happening during Scotch Tape’s journey.
Mahealani is back, which is great. We also learn more about Riptide’s backstory and it isn’t pretty. So some really bad spirit stuff happened inside the naval base. Either one of the insane crewmembers had sex with Riptide or something else made her pregnant. Not a pleasant thought. Maybe one of the reason why her daughter was so weird. So she may not just a censured shaman after all.
It also looks like Riptide has good intentions. Sad to see her being so ruthless about it. It’s even sadder that she took the wrong lessons from Littlepip’s journey.
Brutally killed Zebra counter: 0 (All things consider that was a quick and painless death by the stories standards)
So this chapter gives us a clear answer about whether or not Haimon actions can be compared to Blackjack. And unless there’s a chapter in Project Horizons were Blackjack interrogates a mother by torturing her children to death in front of her the answer is a clear No. No matter how noble his intentions may be Haimon is a monster because he made the decision to be one.
That said, theirs is someone who reminds me a bit of Blackjack: Galen. He stepped up and saved the lives of Desideria’s children. The mare who was responsible for the mob that took his eyes. And he did it in front of a bloodthirsty warlord who may have killed him on the spot. Then when the warlord “offered” him the positon of his personal doctor, Galen told him No because his patient needed him. Honestly, Galen is pure awesome and probably my favorite character in the whole story. Sorry Pythia.
Brutally killed Zebra counter: 2
So Kyros has access to mines? Did he made a deal with Riptide? Is he part of the conspiracy? And how does that monster fit into this?
Brutally killed Zebra counter: 20+
Okay, creepy shaman villain just murdered a whole bunch Green Legion members because they helped Scotch. Talk about being petty. So far almost every member of this little group of conspirators has committed or helped in at least one mass murder. At this point Riptide is looking like she’s the most reasonable one. Which is not a good thing.
I’ve got the feeling Lumi is going to join Scotch little group very soon. A blind, traumatized colt shaman looks like the perfect addition to the team.
Brutally killed Zebra counter: Probably around 40
The crazy G.E.C.K.-like effect strike again, with more causalities. First it only claimed the life of a small caravan. Now it took a whole ship. It also happens all over the world, with the first event taking place in Equestria and this one happening in the waters of the Zebra continent.
Total number of brutally killed Zebra in this chapter: Probably around 60.
Winner of the "Worst Way To Go"-award: Kivet. Being magically forced to stab your own organs is pretty horrifying. Especially if the one who does it to you is a sadist and makes sure you’ll suffer before you die.

The Sahanni are all smoking pot aren’t they?
