Create a tantabus for Pearl, perhaps?
7521435 I have a lot of ideas I could work on. The hardest one is picking which one I like most.
Wow, I've never consider what could happen if a nation state used terrorism on it's own people to resist a rebelion. Normally it's the other way around. Acts like this might lead to pegisi fearing the MLF due to what might be done to them to keep them out of Twilights hooves. Making everypony hate the MLF for 'Forcing' these attacks on them. It has worked in some parts of the world. If they weren't here none if this would have happened. Many ponies just want to live.
7521596 Writing this chapter did really make me wonder if I'm actually a complete arsehole at my core. Usually I'm a rather nice person, but then I think of stuff like this and begin to wonder. Admittedly the angle you came up with was the last I thought of. I just had Pearl messing with them in ways designed to hurt psychologically as much as physically, coz she's a bitch and that's how she rolls. Have a for being such a smart cookie.
7521596 It's not as normally the other way around as you might think. Any instance of over-the-top repression is animated by basically the same instinct.
I wonder why Neither Trixie or Luna have though of a way around the anti-magic armor. I mean the ponies who where it still have to breath and see so AOE affects might just still work. Still this was still a failure on Maretonia's part cause they can no longer keep the rain going. It would have been a better idea to pull the pegisi back to prance for the most part even they had to slow rain production.

True, and in a less modern world likely more so. Those revolting peasants need to be taught a lesson.
Pearl's removing the will to fight by making the cost of fighting higher than a moral foe wants to pay in the hopes it will kill the rebellion without facing them on the field. Smart since unlike just about every human rebellion the MLF has mostly won those with air and magical power.

I'm also kinda reminded about how north Korea punishes the families of defectors for three generations. No one dares not tow the party line or risk leaving.
Finally! I've only been able to grow dirty frenchman goatees, that's a MANs moustache!
Twilight had a easy solution to deal with Pearl. Go go for her kids.
7525664 The kids are in High Rock, so not easy at all. Besides, I really don't think that's something Twilight would do.
7526926 Twilight no, Trixie maybe. And after what Pearl just did? It's a viable tactic. And she got in once...
... The climactic incompetence Twilight keeps exhibiting is becoming irksome. I empathize more with Trixie than her at this point. Wanna kill pearl? When she's monologuing, teleport the stupid dirt from under her to above her head, then use magic to compress it for a good five minutes, or better yet, drag a really heavy-ass rock on top and use THAT to hold her down so she doesn't risk somehow touching something touching the armor.. She'll suffocate, immobile, impotent, in a tomb of metal.
Twilight's morals held her back from killing Pearl, she had a lot of moments where she can kill Pearl but she didn't take it. She didn't wanna be cold-blooded and that was her mistake. When in war, everything goes out of whack, you need to act fast and act decisively which Twilight failed to do in this instance. If Trixie has wings and follows her she would kill Pearl the moment she pops her shithead out.
At this point, Twilight should begin reevaluating her tactics. Her morals are holding her back that needs to be fixed. War is when you take off your gloves and slap your opponent the hardest so they don't have the capability to hurt others(or limit the capability to hurt others). Twilight, give Luna the green light to create those bombs and find something practical for those tanks, civilian casualties is guaranteed but can be minimise. For instance, you can use the bombs on the city wall to breach it instead of lobbing explosives into the city itself. Anything that can kill the enemy faster before they torture more of the population the better.
