Beta-17

E

The planet on which Twilight and her friends live, do they have space? And why does a solar system have a sun that revolves around a planet? And furthermore, why does the planet rely on a magic horse to make the sun and move? Well here's my theory in the form of a story, powered by the immortal words of Jeff Goldblum, no not "Must go faster" the other one. "Nature finds a way"

Very well written.

This story brings up some very interesting points. The only fallacy I noted is that Equus could well be in a completely different universe and so it could be that none of the physics seen on Earth are applicable.

5333020 If you're bringing up different universes than your supporting the multiverse theory which means you're fallacy exists only on certain universes and this very theory is no longer theory while also being a theory.

Multiverse equals Schrödinger

5333250 That was the exact point I was bringing up :P There's a universe where physics are similar, there's one where physics are out of the question (which is likely considering Pinkie Pie), there's one where humans and ponies co-exist peacefully, there's one where we're all fictional and ponies are watching us on a TV show in real life, there's one where we're all ruled over by someone's crappy OC, there's one where all bad OCs are shot on the spot (which I'd love to visit), there's one where the Mane 6 are all stallions, there's one where you and I are fending off hoards of zombies alongside said Mane 6 and the CMC, there's one where both of the previous universes are combined, there's one where you read a comment about multiple universes on FiMFiction in a conversation started by an all-singing, all-dancing nerd, there's one where... I think you get the point. :twistnerd:

Also, if you're going to go that way, Schrödinger's cat has nothing to do with this: the cat conundrum is over in the quantum mechanics area of confusing things we leave to the sciencey people.

EDIT: While I'm here, I'm just going to point out that the title, cover art and theme of this story all remind me of this song:

5334062 Than it seems we're in agreement and I was using
Schrödinger, not as a reference to the experiment, but to describe something that both exists and does not exist at the same time.

5334432 Ooooh, that makes sense now. I'm glad we could understand each other.

I still wanna visit the shoot-bad-OCs universe though.

5334649 You know what I just realised? There's technically a universe in which I am actually teleported to Equestria, and that's my excuse for writing a self-insert, thanks, bye.

5335097 Your welcome... I guess. Think it out first, keep the end in mind, don't add to the bad OC list, and just because being a Mary Sue is subjective does not excuse yourself for being a Mary Sue. Also don't be afraid to use the writing guide provided by ezn I recommend it to everyone, it can only do you some good.

5335202 Did I not make it obvious enough that I was being facetious? Maybe I should have used RoTaTiNg cApS and horribly grammars too.

5335216 last time I thought someone was kidding I ended up waking up in Nevada. Excuse me for taking things seriously.

5335354 Ooooo-kay. Not sure I wanna hear that story.

5337666 You don't. On plus side, had a great two weeks in Las Vegas. At least when I wasn't losing at the slots. Our blackjack. Or poker... I should really stay away from casinos.

5338821 Oh, so that's how they afford all the lights and stuff.

5340262 Of course. Plus the pools, buffet, merchandise, and to build superstructures like the stratosphere. Tallest hotel in the world. That's not to say I didn't see any of the other ways they keep the lights on in the City of Sin.

5340568 I conclude that the whole place is secretly funding the Illuminati.

Why? Because I said so. I'm an Illuminati conspiracist, this is how I roll.

5343729 I think that makes too much sense to work. The City of Sin funding the illuminati. I think they're stationed some where else. Maybe China, they'd have to deal with a lot less laws than over here.

5344098 OPEN YOUR EYES, SHEEPLE! :P

Am I the only one who finds it Weird("Al" Yankovic) that epicn00b and Broovian15 have carried out a whole conversation in this comment section?

5344716 By the way I had a racist joke for that but couldn't post it earlier. Exactly, they'd never have to worry about that in China
Read it if you want but I'd you do you can't say I'm a racist I blocked it out and it lacks derogatories.

First, PMs.
Second, I don't get it.

Ooh, hold on a second:

Our planet of Equus doesn’t spin, and therefore without Princess Luna and Celestia to raise the sun and moon one side of Equus would be in eternal night, and the other would be in eternal night.

They're both in eternal night? :rainbowhuh:

5403677 That's just a typo.

5405214 That was the idea.

5340568

That's not to say I didn't see any of the other ways they keep the lights on in the City of Sin.

... I only just got that.

aside from some minor typos, this was an interesting tidbit. I always do enjoy it when writers such as yourself can take cues from science or history and make Equus seem like a legit place out there.

There was another story that I can't remember the name of where Discord caused a tidal lock which is why Celestia and Luna do what they do, but if you want to get technical they don't (in this other story) actually raise and lower the sun and moon, they guide them and it's just easier to call it "raising and lowering" than having to explain the incredibly sciency stuff to the common pony (no offense to ponies mind you).
