When a darkness from Celestia and Luna's past returns, it possibly threatens to blanket not only all of Equestria, but the entirety of the world in war. Twilight Sparkle and her friends are charged with overcoming a threat unlike any other the girls have faced. They must come to grips with startling discoveries, incredible challenges, and difficult decisions that could lead to the complete upheaval of everything they love and hold dear.

However, not all is black and white, no matter how much the six mares might wish it were - for in a world full of grey sides, where long thought truths are shown to be clever lies, the girls will have to ask of themselves how much would they be willing to lose, to sacrifice, to protect the ones they love.
