My guess is that the creature only goes after sound, and since Octavia wasn't making any, it was as though they couldn't even sense her. I wonder if that was plain as day and now I just look dumb.

Anyway, was a real interesting read, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter, Jay!

on note, da capo is intende as "you did it a lot of time, do it again from the beginning"; I would add just a little more detail about the fact she doing a "routine synphony" that she did a lot of times before
