I really dislike the stories where Spike is just a dumb animal and the issues with Twilight
Another very interesting chapter. I guess we'll have quite a bit to discuss in the Post-Fall forums during the next weeks.
That said, I find the title somewhat interesting. It recalls the season 1 finale, of course - The Best Night Ever. Now the title of the season 1 finale was ironic, of course. It wasn't the best night ever for them. However, in this case we can fairly assume that the title is meant in a completely un-ironic way...
But then again, I'm probably just overthinking things again. But it does raise an interesting question. Are the chapter titles of canon FoE stories chosen by the authors themselves, or does non_creepy_nickname choose the titles?
Well, kinda disappointed we only get a part ONE after two months of waiting, but it's better than nothing!
As I figured, we skip ahead past what happened at the end of last chapter and I had thought the reference with Daisy and Applejack, might mean she had turned red herself; but by Ginna's words later, I'm guessing not. Maybe a little sad to see Carrot Top resent Applejack for what she's done, but I did think it wasn't likely to go away once she heard the truth (but not the whole truth, with regards to why she chose to do so), perhaps.
I thought maybe we might see Spike at the Gala, but hadn't expected the other former Element bearers to be going up with AJ, Big Mac, and Gunne!
I had also thought Ginna might go too, despite the nature of her birth with his and that he hadn't taken her last time he went out of town with the Apples. While it did admittedly spoil a bit from the future of the Twilight Falls fic and from what I'd read in one or two non-canon Fall fics, I hadn't thought that'd be the case truthfully of Twilight betraying the ponies/mares of her town (as opposed to Rarity doing so, given if what Sunrise Splendor had said wasn't a lie). I have to assume that has to do with Spike either getting free or said red Element bearer that was already among them before Ponyville's capture helping the conversion, but I'll have to wait to see, whenever that part(s) comes out.And as Aristagtle said in his comment, I did notice how this indeed references the Gala episode from Season 1 (though he was wrong: even if it wasn't fun MOST of the night, they did have fun hanging out with each other and did call it "the best night ever" at Donut Joe's shop), and I have had an inkling/worry that something bad might happen for the Apple siblings at the Gala. But whether it'll be AJ mostly, Big Mac mostly, or a combo of the two's actions during the night, remains to be seen! I hoped I would be wrong in this regard, but as evidenced by the Pinkie Sense/doozies that she apparently still gets as opposed to new ones maybe in regard to the new order, it seems like something's gonna happen that either blows AJ's cover or dare I say it... ACTUALLY break her final resistance (either to actual red or purple)? I doubt it'd be Rainbow getting a red collar in Applejack's story, if we are still going to get a canon fic with Dash sometime. Either way, I have a strong feeling it's not gonna have a semi-happy ending for this, after all they went through.
Well, I doubt Applejack is going to get to explain herself to Rainbow this time if possible (if they even get any time paired together like back when AJ got her red collar), or that Pinkie's resistant half might show up again, but I'll wait for the next part(s) and see! As well as seeing what else happens during Applejack and Big Mac's first time at the gala since the caribou takeover, if there are definitely some other familiar characters appearing from this fic or the other ones.

Well, Spike WAS corrupted in this universe to a horny teenager/adult AND a greedy dragon, so it's not a surprise. And issues with Twilight meaning what happened to her here, I assume; Twilight is my favorite and I prefer her canon self to this one by the sounds of it, but it is what it is. Of course, I imagine you're not new to this and/or referring JUST to this series (with Spike, at least). I doubt it'd help if I said I may have impulsively started my own (non-canon likely) Fall story involving Twilight, though Spike won't be a big part of it aside from the beginning and maybe end. Assuming I keep at it... with the new knowledge of what is to come in her fic, provided I remember.
All the mentions of the resistance toward the start of this chapter, and Pinkie's Pinkie Sense going off toward the end have me hoping that this will be the night that the Resistance preforms attacks on Canterlot. You know, bombings, slave freeing, Caribou slaughtering, having found some method to attack them regardless of their magical resistance.
I'm really still holding out hope that there will be at least -one- moment in this Fic where we see the arrogance of the Caribou leave them in a position of vulnerability for one damned second, and that would be -perfect- as it doesn't have too topple them, but it would show that they're not invincible.
6459531
Huh? I don't understand this line of reasoning. If anything, the way they were born is the perfect reason for Gunne not to take her with him. The other caribou see her as a curse precisely because of her birth. We know that it's reason enough for them to be particularly cruel and abusive towards her. Dainn protects Gunne, but I really doubt this protection extends to his sister as well when push comes to shove. Gunne is mostly concerned for his sister's safety, so the Gala is probably the last place in Equestria he would want to take her to. As much as I want to see more of Ginna, taking her with him would have made no sense.
6459647
Eh true, but I hadn't looked over the last chapter again quickly before reading this one to recall anything I probably forgot from the time frame between chapters (I have opened this a few times since then, but didn't re-read the whole chapter or anything, just a couple parts ). Like about taking Ginna or not, even if guests invited to this new Grand Galloping Gala don't have to bring a slave with them I imagine, but they probably can/do. I mean, I recalled the reputation they had and what I said before, but eh, I didn't know what he'd do despite his care for his sister. I'll cross that out now, then.
6459678
Now I'm confused...
Oh my God, how much more obvious can the guy be?
He's flirting with you, Mac! Open your eyes, you dunce!
6459941
Yes, it's obvious now that you were right about Gunne being interested in Big Mac.
But that aside, the following lines also have a few interesting implications for caribou society in general. And I think they also seem to reveal something else about Gunne and his preferences, if only ex negativo.
6459941
Applejack considered the potential risk of Big Mac getting switched in her internal monologue.
Foreshadowing?
Wouldn't it just -be- like the Caribou for Gunne to have used Mac to tame his sister, then considered him to have fulfilled his purpose, and decide to use his relationship with King Daine to convince the monarch that Mac would be better both switched, and put in Gunne's personal "care"?
I mean, we've seen them as duplicitous and backstabbing multiple times before, if Gunne truly is a good representative of his species then the idea that he's been attracted to Mac but wants too make him his Mare and will only do so once he's wrung every ounce of use out of him for his own advancement isn't so far-fetched. After all, I doubt Daine is dumb enough to believe that Mac spontaneously accepted their way of life and trained his sister to Red-Collar status, I'd say he -knows- very well that Gunne was the principal motivator behind it and just doesn't really mind because Gunne is his bro. That would definitely be a point in Gunne's favor, and we we all know that pleasing his king is his top priority from his own statements on the matter.
Besides all that, this series of chapters is called "The worst night ever" so.....
6460165
Actually, I wonder if Gunne is even interested in mares in the first place. Quite a few of his lines seem to suggest something else.
6460241
Well, I never thought about this before or believed that Gunne could be INTO Mac. Admittedly, I know we've never seen Gunne on-screen directly fucking his sister, at most he touched her privates while watching AJ's apology back in Chapter 4 and made her bounce on a toy without stopping next chapter. But it never screamed to me "gay!" for whatever reason, as I just figured it was a platonic friendship between Gunne and Mac, plus being kept under implication for the reason of keeping incest outta this story. Even if it still was/is without fucking, with the ownership perhaps and the touching I mentioned before. But he did say AJ wasn't his "type", though I dunno if Mac'll learn this at the Gala, IF this is true that Gunne's more gay than bi. Funny enough that this is the story I've most followed of the several that're uploaded and are multi-chapter, yet I didn't notice that Gunne might be gay, for shame!
6460165
You make good points, but what IF Gunne is actually gay and not bi? Then, while that might make Mac his, it would kill his desire perhaps to have sex with the stallion he might be hung on. As I said above, he's not engaged in anything TOO hardcore with his several appearances on-screen with a female and I thought it was just all being kept off-screen to keep too much incest outta the fic (in regards to Ginna) and/or focus on the characters the story centers around. Unless there's a way to blank Mac but keep him male, if that was Gunne's aim: for himself to be with Mac by helping out for a while, only to stab him in the back and take advantage of that to turn him into a loyal follower of the regime or something akin to that effect. Probably not, but heck if I know, since this is all news to me; I honestly never thought about all this before that Gunne might fancy guys! Also, what if Gunne's note is a coded message to any watchers at the Gala to out the two of them as being against the regime or at least, STILL not going with the majority of things, despite their recent actions? If the caribou men are even that smart, Gunne in particular.
6460314
Well, he doesn't have to be gay. Gunne himself mentions the possibility of bisexuality, and how common it is among his people. I actually believe he does have sex with his sister regularly, and also enjoys it. I also believe that he is interested in Big Mac (as strongly suggested by this chapter).
Also, when it comes to the question of how many different persons Gunne had sex with in his life so far, I somewhat suspect that he had exactly one other partner aside from his sister so far. Of course, so far we have seen him show interest only in Ginna and Big Mac. But if my suspicion about his other partner was true, I think we would be able to see a pattern. One that really makes Gunne stand out among all caribou in canon.
Unfortunately, I don't have any real evidence for my suspicion. Call it a hunch.
I'm on the edge of my seat. I love Schorl's writing so much that I don't want the story to end. But its almost over. I fear for big Mac, I fear for Apple Jack. I fear my weak human heart wont be able to take the big finial chapter.
6460343
AFAIK Schorl has already confirmed that she'll write more FoE stuff after Bruised Apples.
Let's see, 'best night ever' was ironic in that the mane six actually had the worst night ever. This is titled 'worst night ever' so that means that something will happen so that they will have the best night ever. Maybe.
to clarify what I said earlier, my issue is black collars having some difficulty believing that red collars like Twilight are brainwashed, Especially with what happened to almost all the stallions.
I also dislike the way this makes being a red collar basically mean a mare that won't fight back, when it seems like it was designed to mean willing slave
of course Schorl's ETS series kind of shows preference for the breaking part of this while my preference is for the mind control
You know, I'm kinda curious to see just what Pinkie's Pinkie Sense is predicting, being FoE, things are bound to go wrong for somepony so, call it morbid curiosity. I'm curious to see where this goes.

It doesn't even have to be a real trap. It might as well be a test. Gunne still seems to believe MacIntosh will come to understand the truth of the Caribou way, unless that's all an act. This could be the last test for both Applejack and Big MacIntosh.
Gunne lures Mac away just as AJ has to do her speech. If she fails to deliver... well, her collar and perhaps his manhood will then be void.
6460320
6460314
Well, perhaps Gunne, out of a personal attraction, has been trying to lead Big MacIntosh into a proper "masterful" direction all along to see if any of it will take. And if it doesn't take, well, he'll do what needs to be done, even if it's regrettable.
6460372
Well, the last time around, their worst night turned into the best night because they had their friends to spend it with.
So, if this is a reversal, it'll turn into the worst night because AJ's former friends are around to "help".
Everytime Twilight shows up I get really tense, I just want her to say, "I've been brainwashed," or, "I've been hypnotised," then it'll all be good, because the idea of my favorite character succumbing to this thing willingly makes me feel uncomfertable.
Again, a testament to how good of a writer you are, when readers feel feelings towards the world and charscters, not the decisions of the writer.

And I don't know why
I wonder how Gunne would feel if he have to watch his sister get gangrape by 50 dude's.
