Discord starts granting wishes.
Twilight's job at maintaining peace becomes far more uncertain in the morality department.
Toby, local human, and Rainbow Dash often spend a quiet Friday evening getting pleasantly sozzled because why not? It's a nice thing to do on a Friday evening sometimes, some friendly drunkeness between friends.
Of course, getting sozzled can sometimes impact one's decision-making abilities, and lead to certain decisions being made that normally wouldn't and probably shouldn't.
This is probably one of those times.
They say only fools are heroes since one never knows when a bad guy might come along and offer a sadistic choice. We all know in the main (or mane, I should say) timeline, Twilight gave into Tirek's demands and unlocked the Rainbow Power that banished Tirek back into the fiery pits of Tartarus and restored all the magic of Equestria. But what if, knowing how much magic she has inside of her and with the insistence of her friends, she instead refused Tirek's offer?

Most ponies do not want to be replaced by a changeling.
Most ponies find that prospect, frankly, rather unnerving.
Most ponies want to be something other than changeling food.
Most ponies who feed changelings willingly, though few, still want a normal life.
Most ponies would rather not spend the rest of their lives suspended in a cocoon.
Most.
Cover art uses atnezau's cocoon vectors, GeneralZoi's creator, and MLP:FiM screencaps.

Twilight Sparkle's life is going just fine. Sure, she only barely scraped through school. Sure, her job is boring busywork. Sure, she has no prospects for growth, no social life, and no real interests. But it's all going just fine, until a strange mare named Starlight Glimmer comes along and starts asking questions she can't answer. Things like why did Nightmare Moon never wake up, and are you happy? But the answers don't matter when you've got a perfectly normal life in Canterlot.
Thank you to ChrisRainicorn (Tumblr // FIMfic) for the cover art, the prereading, and the hype and motivation. It meant everything in finishing this fic and I really can't believe it's done.
I hope you all enjoy!
Once a month, Twilight Sparkle and her longtime mentor, Princess Celestia – and her younger sister, Princess Luna – meet together for a friendly visit over tea and scones.
Normally, this is a nice, relaxing time to converse and discuss anything and everything on their minds while indulging in time spent between often long-distance friends.
This is not one of those relaxing get-togethers; obvious just by Princess Celestia's late arrival to the table, things go south very, very quickly...
Stupid idea I had months ago, been having the urge to shift gears and write some random things – and now I'm free to do that.
How far would you go for the perfect Hearth's Warming gift?
If you're Trixie... too far.

The dust has settled after the Apple Bloom and her friends admitted they were Anon-a-miss. All of Sunset's friends welcomed her back with open arms and she had the best holidays of her life, but... something isn't sitting right.
Her friends only turned on her once. Everything should just go back to normal and Sunset should be able to forget this ever happened, but she can't. Despite the wonderful ending, the thought still lingers: how is she ever supposed to trust them again?
It's not so easy, being reunited after a thousand years apart. The crown isn't the only thing that needs to be mended.
Set just after Season 1, Episode 2 of Friendship is Magic.
With musical inspiration from Midnight Lament by Aurellah.
Editing by Miss Direction.
