War would soon be upon Equestria, the Griffon revolution having left Griffonstone with an insatiable thirst for Equestrian blood. As a rising recruit, Spitfire just wanted to leave her mark and make her mother proud. But as war looms overhead, she would soon find out that unquestioning loyalty is not as noble as she thinks. Because after all, what goes up must come down in a raging inferno. Her name is Spitfire after all.

Hearts and Hooves Day is a sorry excuse for a holiday. Maybe it's the fact that most of her dates tend to get eaten by manticores, but Daring Do has long since given up on risen above any longing for romance.

But that doesn't mean she's not 100% okay with slinking into the Sugar Cloud Confectionery to hit up their sale on rainbow truffles. Hay no. This is her most important quest of the year.

Retirement. It was a tough subject for Spitfire. She knew she was about to retire soon, but she hadn' t notified Fleetfoot and Soarin of her decision. While trying to find a place to hide from some bullies, Fleetfoot finds a stolen dragon egg. A single thought goes through her mind: bring it home.

It's Spitfire's birthday and Soarin decides to take on the role of leader for a day while he has Rainbow Dash distract Spitfire with a test of skills between the two before the big surprise. Soarin, Fleetfoot, and the other wonderbolts must pull everything together before Spitfire returns, but can Rainbow Dash keep her away long enough?
