Wow what a great start to season 8 but Neighsay though.....dang what a racist! (He's just lucky Luna wasn't in this episode!)

When first I saw School Daze (the Season 8 premiere), I thought, "who the buck is the Equestrian Education Administration" and why do they have so much power?" Rewatching it now almost three years later, I find myself thinking the exact same thing.
Well, I think with the release of Chapter Seven and the generally pleasant reaction to it, it might be a good idea to elaborate upon my portrayal of one of the characters to make their Quiververse debut in the story - specifically, Chancellor Neighsay.
Okay, here I'm just going to take a stab at the new season premiere and share some theories and thoughts I have. Just short little ramblings.
The new students of the School. I wonder, are they being set up to be the new Mane Six and CMCs? I mean, before you rant and rave at me, hear me out.
"Gee Chancellor, what are we going to do tonight?"
"The same thing we do every night Pinkie. TRY TO TAKE OVER EQUESTRIA... (via its educational system)"
They're Pinkie and the Neigh,
YEs Pinkie and the Neigh.
One is a genius, the other's insane.
They have equine looks.
They do things by the book.
Where's Dinky?
It's Pinkie and the Neigh, Neigh, Neigh, Neigh, Neigh.
Hello Everyone, today's Announcement is the group for Neighsay and Tempest shipping. Here is a link to go to the group of "Tempest X Neighsay"
I found this by dumb luck the other day and I'm still laughing about it.
It's a little-known fact that after stepping down as head of the EEA, Chancellor Neighsay decided to try and pursue a new career. One of his first attempts was to try and break into acting, with rather mixed success.
Everyone... I don't know what to say.
0/10 - AWFUL (unsalvageable, never should have been made, wouldn't recommend to anyone)
1/10 - HORRIBLE/BORING (tedious, hurts to watch, a bore, no reason to watch him/her, whatever positive things about him/her are tiny and not enough)
2/10 - VERY BAD (slightly less terrible, maybe there were one or two things you liked kept him/her from being a 1 but still very painful)
A few days ago, I was rewatching "School Daze" to give the episode some more thoughts, because there is quite a lot to see in it and a lot that invites you to deeply think about it. One sentence in particular stuck out to me:
"Everypony should be prepared to defend our way of life."
I'm hoping it'll at least be decent. And there's something I should get off my chest.
Before today, I did have plans to write a sequel to my fic Rinse And Repeat called That's Not Much Better. I was hoping to write it before the season premiere date but just never got round to it. That, and I think my villain ranking blogs have said enough about all the villains.
It's a battle of wills in my new one-shot story, now published for all to read!
Grading Scale:
A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
1. Chancellor Neighsay - His racist and disrespectful remarks about non-ponies and his belief that they cannot attend school because of their species make my blood boil. Even though he realized the error of his ways, I simply cannot forgive him for the absolute bigotry that he has displayed.
Friendship is Magic review by Obake
(Spoilers!)
I agree with what this episode is trying to teach. Which is why it is so frustrating that its handle of a real world issue is so clumsy.
Flim and Flam open their own school of friendship in Las Pegasus. Because it only accepts ponies as students, it receives accreditation from Chancellor Neighsay, to Twilight's chagrin. Much worse, she and Rarity find that Starswirled the Bearded is one of the school's students (yes, really.)
The season finale has arrived..... And, wow, was this an INTENSE Finale! I hardly know where to begin..... Cozy Glow turning out as a villain and as plain evil, Chancellor Neighsay turning out as the lesser evil and even getting overthrown by Cozy Glow, Cozy Glow's brilliant and flawless plan where she thought on absolutely everything, how she got everypony on her side by simply acting charming, nice and adorable, Tirek as evil mentor pulling the strings from the background, the initial
Yesterday, I had something happen to me that got me thinking, about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and about the reception it gets in the fandom and I decided to talk a bit about it. Afterthoughts on the Finale will still come next week, but today, I want to talk about something else.
